Nehalem Bay is an easy entry level with enough wildlife to keep the "oohs" a coming. Harbor Seals, Bald Eagles, Cranes, and several other birds (I can't remember their names-oops) What a great way to spend a morning. In fact, it was the highlight of the entire trip. We all agreed we should've booked more trips for the week. Guess we'll just have to visit again. Not that Josh isn't absolutely charming all on his own, but bringing his wiener dog along, made us all have hearts in our eyes. Great Job in helping us create some fantastic memories.

Although it was foggy and overcast, we tooled around and had some fantastic Grey whale spotting... lots of spouts and surface dives from 2-3 Greys. One even spouted withhin 10' of the boat. Nice amount of passengers with ample seats for those who needed to sit (some outfits jam them in). The usual assortment of vacationing families with kiddos. Comfy cabin seating if you wanted wand a head if you felt the need. Ocean had 3-6' swells which the captain navigated with expertise. Captain took us to Whale Harbor for some Bald Eagle spotting. Highly recomend!

There were plenty of parking in the lot and you walking the market store, the crabbing docks and some campsites on the walk to the outdoor restaurant part (also lots of fun photo ops too!) The menu prices were reasonable and displayed right at the ordering/cooking station. You tell them what you want and then you take the metal plaque inside to pay. We got 1 Dungeness crab (cleaned), 1 lb of clams, and 1 dozen oysters all steamed to try. Please do note all the accompaniments were sold separately such as butter, garlic, cocktail sauce, and lemons. They also had a microwave station for you to melt the butter along with all the tools you'll need for your yummy tray of fresh seafood. Eating crab is a labor of love but it was totally worth it! The crab meat was juicy and sweet, while the clams and oysters were briny and salty. If you want raw oysters you have to shuck them yourself due to cross contamination prevention. But the steamed oysters were actually so good too! Service was quick and friendly with everyone working hard cleaning, steaming, and dishing out orders. It's nice to have the hand washing stations and bathroom close to rinse off the stickiness from our seafood feast. Definitely recommend coming here to get your fresh seafood on if you are in the Rockaway Beach area!

We called and were able to easily make a reservation in advance, with tips on when would be best to start our little adventure but also mentioning the flexibility of when we could show up. This was our very first time crabbing but they made it so easy for us to be successful. Jim was helpful and friendly, and Brody (I think that's his name?) explained everything about the boat and how to crab clearly enough for us beginners to understand. And the prices can't be beat either, more than fair for everything you're provided with! We loved how friendly everyone we came in contact with was and the total ease of the whole excursion. We found Dave sort of by accident and am I glad we did! From the get go I could see Dave was prepared, organized, and ready to catch Chinook.
