We met Mark and the other four fishermen joining us, at crack of dawn. Launched through the surf out to the ocean straight to the crab pots. Got our limit of crab and then on to fishing. We caught Ling Cod, Rock Fish and Cabezon. Mark and his wife Linda are all about the customers experience, we all meet back at Mark's house where we learn how to ready the crabs for steaming, while the crabs steam Mark and Markus fillet the fish and Linda vacuum sealed the fillets. After that we feasted on warm steamed crab and had even more to take home! Highly recommend Pacific City Fishing for a great experience.

Although it was foggy and overcast, we tooled around and had some fantastic Grey whale spotting... lots of spouts and surface dives from 2-3 Greys. One even spouted withhin 10' of the boat. Nice amount of passengers with ample seats for those who needed to sit (some outfits jam them in). The usual assortment of vacationing families with kiddos. Comfy cabin seating if you wanted wand a head if you felt the need. Ocean had 3-6' swells which the captain navigated with expertise. Captain took us to Whale Harbor for some Bald Eagle spotting. We took a Dungeness crabbing tour through the charter service on the Spindrift. The captain and…read moremate were both very friendly and we chatted quite a bit with the mate while we were pulling up crab. The charter was supposed to be 90 minutes, but it turned out to be 150 minutes. We pulled up 13 or 14 pots in 60-100' waters. Three of the guests helped deal with the pots. One had a hook and pulled the bouy into the boat. The second pulled in the line for the pot and the third helped the mate get the pot into the boat. Over the course of the 2 1/2 hours, we caught 114 male legal crabs. When we returned, each guest got eight Dungeness crabs. So for us that meant 16 crabs. You had a choice of having them cook the crab for you or take it home and cook it yourself. We chose the second option. It was a beautiful day, but there were 3 to 5 foot swells. So if you have problems with seasickness, take some medication before you go out. It's worth mentioning that on top of the cost of the charter, each guest must buy a crabbing license from the state of Oregon for $37 out of state.

We were so glad to stop by here for our last dinner of our Rockaway beach family vacation! This…read moreplace has it all! Camping, crabbing, market, and restaurant. There were plenty of parking in the lot and you walking the market store, the crabbing docks and some campsites on the walk to the outdoor restaurant part (also lots of fun photo ops too!) The menu prices were reasonable and displayed right at the ordering/cooking station. You tell them what you want and then you take the metal plaque inside to pay. We got 1 Dungeness crab (cleaned), 1 lb of clams, and 1 dozen oysters all steamed to try. Please do note all the accompaniments were sold separately such as butter, garlic, cocktail sauce, and lemons. They also had a microwave station for you to melt the butter along with all the tools you'll need for your yummy tray of fresh seafood. Eating crab is a labor of love but it was totally worth it! The crab meat was juicy and sweet, while the clams and oysters were briny and salty. If you want raw oysters you have to shuck them yourself due to cross contamination prevention. But the steamed oysters were actually so good too! Service was quick and friendly with everyone working hard cleaning, steaming, and dishing out orders. It's nice to have the hand washing stations and bathroom close to rinse off the stickiness from our seafood feast. Definitely recommend coming here to get your fresh seafood on if you are in the Rockaway Beach area!
