Rock Fish
Derek R.

Jack and Dylan made sure everyone had a great time! Left the dock at 1:00 and hit our limit for Rock Fish at 2:38. Definite five star day.

We had the privilege to bring 45 farmers from the east coast and wanted to show them Newport and give the experience of crabbing for Dungeness crab. We rented two boats for a 3 hour excursion on 7-26-22 and again with another 45 farmers on 8-2-2022. The staff at the Newport Marina and crew of Yaquina Bay Charters were beyond wonderful, welcoming and provided the most amazing experience for everyone! The boats are so clean, the captain's and deckhands go out of their way to make sure everyone is having a wonderful time. Our company KWS Seeds, LLC strongly recommend you use this company whenever the opportunity presents itself. They are awesome!

Great experience for novice and seasoned fisher. Fisheries the Crackerjack. If you go Captain Anne will make sure you have a great time. Great experience, recommended booking with them. Will definitely book another trip in the future

Captain Shannon and Robert were outstanding! Seven friends and I booked an all-day tuna trip; but due to the tuna being too far from shore, we converted the tuna trip into a half-day rock fishing trip with crabbing. On the boat we had 16 people fishing with the captain and faithful deckhand (I feel the need to break out in song about a 3-hour cruise - but alas, I can hardly sing). Captain S. got us into fish quickly but the catching soon fell off. The Captain was not afraid to move locations until he got us into a great spot and virtually everyone "limited out". Crabbing was also splendid with everyone on the boat catching his/her limit. Once docked a separate outfit cooked and cleaned the crab for only $1 per crab and cleaned and filleted the fish for a very reasonable rate. All in all it was a great day and well deserving of 5 stars. As a side, remember to take precautions for seasickness and bring cash for the fillet service and to tip you captain and deckhand!

Our party of 7 joined Captain Shannon & his deckhand and we had an amazing time. They were both patient with instruction & we caught plenty of fish, a nice variety of them too. We all dropped crab pots & went home with 5 crabs each. I highly recommend these guys for your trip!

Had an awesome 1/2 day trip with Captain Jack and Ann. We did the bottom and crab trip and went out on the Crackerjack. My wife was getting over the flu so she didn't get to do much fishing but she was jazzed to see everyone having a great time. There was a little boy (maybe 9) who was slaying it. My wife Ali got a kick out of his little voice hollering "Fish On." We got the safety briefing and then Ann (deck hand) finished prepping the 16 crab pots and then we were off. Once outside the protection of the jetty, the water was churning up 8-125 foot rollers and people started to turn green, my wife included. She is such a trooper. I'm a fortunate man. The water temp dropped quite significantly which had Capt Jack chasing the school of fish. It was an absolutely gorgeous day and we had the pleasure of meeting some good people. When all is said and done I caught 14 Fish with 5 that were keepers. I had a great day and will definitely go for another fishing charter with this outfit. Capt Jack is a true character and is quite engaging with all the fishermen and offered tips to increase likelihood of boating more fish. Ann was the Deckhand and she has a Super chill vibe about her but is super knowable in her craft. Could be because she is studying oceanography at Humboldt. Thanks for a great trip Yaquina Bay Charter. Ali and I are excited for another day of fishing with you guys.

About a 1/2 mile from shore in the fog bank.

My wife and I went out yesterday(7/29/21) on a half day, near shore rockfish and ling cod fishing trip. We had an absolute blast! Captain Shannon and Deck Hand Justin did a great job putting us on the fish. My wife and I both got our limits of rockfish and crab. The seas were a bit choppy toward the end of the trip, but well worth the results. Would definitely recommend this company to anyone and I will definitely be a returning customer.

Nice big crab in the crab pot

After being skunked on my last 2 fishing trips in California, I am very pleased with my trip on the Gracie K. Capt. Shannon and the mate, Cole, were courteous and helpful the entire trip. They allowed us to do just enough work to allow us to say WE caught the fish. We caught our limit early and went back ahead of the weather. Also got 5 huge crab. When we docked there was a independent lady that cleaned and filleted all our fish and cooked and cleaned all the crab. She asked for 11 bucks and I gave her 20. That's a deal to not have to deal with that mess. I've been on enough to bad fishing trips to know a good company when I see it. This is a well run outfit. I was so pleased that I asked when I could book my next trip. Thanks

Can't wait until we can go again! We went in the middle of August as a last minute trip before school started. Our youngest was 7 and the oldest 11. Just make sure to take the motion sickness medicine first! We all did but the 7 year old. He spent a fair amount of time throwing up. Also, dress warm. We all limited out on crab and we caught several rockfish as well and even two lingcods. Oh, and by the way, the rest of the family are, but I am NOT a fisherman! I loved it.

Jack and Anne were awesome. Both very friendly. I would definitely book another trip with them. I limited out on fish pretty fast we also limited out on crab so that was worth the trip in its self. The boat was clean and Jack was great on the water. Anne busted her butt!

We chose Yaquina Bay Charters for my birthday fishing trip on 4/28/17. We had an excellent time. The staff were all friendly and knowledgeable. Capt Shannon and First Mate Robert were very helpful. The whole boat limited on Rockfish and I caught a very large Lincod! Best charter experience to date.

They will tell you where to go. The boats are your standard 14'.5' aluminum boat with a 9 HP outboard on it. The motor ran great, it was also new for the season. You need to leave your card as a deposit. I'm not crazy about doing that, but not a big deal. They guy working there was very nice and helpful. The store is pretty small, but has plenty of snacks and drinks as well as fishing supplies and bait, live and refrigerated. I'm not leaving a five star for one reason, they require you to clean the boat when you get back. I was beat from pulling pots and really not in the mood to wash down a boat. They have a hose, so you basically wash everything down to the back and then use a pail to remove the water. The positive is they had the hose right there on the dock next to the boat. I brought my own pots so it was nice to wash them down there instead of later. Big plus for me.

It turned out to be a beautiful day at the beach to top it all off. You pay in the store and they do charge an extra percent if you're paying with a card (don't remember how much) which is a tad annoying but you get over it. Then it's time to head to the boat and meet the extremely friendly and funny crew to head out to sea. The way the crabbing works is that they set pots in the morning and then whichever boat you're on, you pick up a string of pots along the way. Pot after pot the crab were overflowing and everyone has to help! Watch out for the claws, those crabs aren't playing around. We had great luck and caught a TON of crabs. I highly recommend having the crabs cooked & cleaned onsite. We paid under $20 for 34+ crabs. We had crab for weeks! Cost is reasonable, $55 per adult and seemed pretty kid friendly above the age of 5 or so. Will definitely do again!

This was the kids first time fishing on a boat and the crew were amazing with the kiddos by patiently teaching them the techniques of fishing and were genuinely enthusiastic whenever they caught a fish. Half way into the trip the captain noticed that Salmon were running and changed gears to start trolling. Within a few minutes we caught our first Coho and when all was done ended up with 4 keepers while 4 more had to be released due to them being native species! This meant that we ended up staying out longer than anticipated but the captain didn't mind at all as long as the fishing was good and the passengers were having a good time. The crew at Infinity Charters clearly love fishing and pride themselves on providing a great experience for their customers. I recommend them wholeheartedly and will certainly book another trip if we find ourselves in the Newport area!

The fee is $7/day and is only sold in day long increments (always expiring at midnight) unless you buy a $75 yearly permit. Since this fee is applied to all of the Public port parking at the south beach facility this means it applies to parking by the fishing pier, the non-motorized boat launch area, or anywhere else that you might park to go out on a boat or simply park for a few minutes to walk around. The fee is payable via app on a smart phone as well as one pay kiosk. But while the area is festooned with signs for smartphone payment, from the company that collects the fees, there is no signage to direct you to that kiosk. It's way over on the north end by the boat ramp, and not apparent or visible from most of the parking areas. I feel this fee is exorbitant, unnecessary, and generally implemented in an unfriendly manner for the visiting citizen or tourist.
