We got up to the entera de and paid $7 to park and walk around a whole preserved Oregon park! It was so worth it because there were very few people there (compared to any other beach we've been to north of Tillamook). We drove around, parked, and walked on some of the trails to start out. We went over to the lighthouse that's kind of stunning because it's been kept up so well. Once we got over there, I realized MY FAMILY BROUGHT ME HERE GROWING UP UNTIL I WAS OLDER!!! I got emotional and my fiancé was just so excited to be apart of where I used to travel to in the summers. The steps to get down to Cobble Beach are kind of steep - but not too bad. Probably around 200 steps to get all the way down to the charcoal stones that line the beach. If you want sand, don't come to this part of the peninsula; this cobble stone coastline is meant for people who just want to be with the sounds of nature; by that I mean sit on some of the smoothed over rocks and just LISTEN!! The stones cascade together creating an amazing sound that just humbled us. We sat on the bottom of the stairs (there's a small ledge that's right at the base kind of hidden) and just watched the waves and listened to the cobble stone clatter. There were a few seals hunting at that time right were we were sitting and they kept checking out the few people that were down on the beach. We were here for around 2 hours, and I wish we didn't have to rush up to tillamook because I would've stayed here probably until sunset. Hands down beautiful, and we are going to be back within the next month or so

It doesn't get much more coastal than this region…read more We were really fortunate to visit the Oregon Coast in November on a clear Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Nothing but sunshine greeted us. No rain, fog or clouds dampened our road trip. The weather this week where we visited: Coos Bay, Florence, Newport, Yachats, Depoe Bay forecasted rain and wind with even a gale warning in some parts. The Oregon Coast is so beautiful! Thor's Well in Yachats at high tide was amazing to see. At low tide we saw some brave folks walk down towards the edge of that gaping hole. In Florence we descended down 208-ft in an elevator to the Sea Lion Caves... we didn't get a chance to see any sea lions at the time but the cave was cool to see. In Newport was where we saw sea lions bask and roll about at the docks just below Clearwater Restaurant and Port Dock One in Historic Bayfront. FREE! No matter the season, the Oregon Coast is a rejuvenating getaway. We enjoyed visiting the coastal cities, admiring lighthouses, making footprints in the sand, dining on the coast, checking out unique souvenir shops, seeing miles and miles of public coastline that continue to be free and public... captivated by the beauty of the mighty Pacific Ocean. This section of the park is belong to the Neptune State Park. It located at mile marker 169 of…read morePacific Coast Highway 101. It has pull out circular driveway which made parking easy. The best part of the area to visit is to walk down cross sandy ditch towards the rock if you can reach it. On the far side of the rock you can see some seal take refuge there. They are stretching out their body for sun tan. It is to see what they doing on the rock. The most interesting of the park is walk on the rock and see the trap water that have sea life in it. This happens on the low tide and all this shallow sea life still attach to the rock. Some of them just move in to the trap pool of the rock. We saw a lot of green anemones and star fish. The come in different shape and color. I like to touch the tentacles of the anemone. They are suck to finger. Some of the sea crab trap in it and become their meal.

I've never seen so many starfish in one place - from bright orange ones to giant, dark purple…read moreones!! In one particular spot where the tide rushes in between two rock walls, I lost count at 12 all in a row!! And tons and tons of anemones too! The tide pools here are just incredible!! Bob Creek Wayside is one of four little beach pull offs inside the Neptune State Scenic Area along the 101 in Oregon's central coast. The beach is very small at low tide, and to get to it you have to navigate a large field full of small-to-large pebbles/rocks and large pieces of driftwood. At high tide I'm sure the beach disappears. But low tide is the best time here anyway bc the tide pools are what you want to see! Once you get past the rock field, off to the right you'll find Bob Creek rushing fast down from the cliffs and into the ocean. There are some tide pools around here but they're small and very slippery so be careful! And to the left you'll find a small waterfall flowing into another small creek leading to a maze of rock walls where you'll find the countless starfish and tide pools full of anemones, snails, and tons of other creatures. It's very rocky and can be slippery. And even at low tide, small waves are coming in and out - so I highly recommend decent, sturdy water shoes and roll your pant legs up if you want to find all the starfish. I got wet up to my knees at one point. At this pull off, there's a small to medium sized paved parking lot and information signs. There are a few picnic tables and benches. There are no bathrooms here - but lots of bathrooms very nearby at all the other stops and pull offs. The parking lot is handicap accessible- but not the beach or tide pools. The picnic tables and benches are in the grass just next to the parking lot.

I read online that Bob Creek was a great place to do some tide pooling, so my husband, son, and I…read morevisited last week. The hike down to the beach is short and easy. We were there a few hours before low tide, but there was still great tide pool viewing. We saw several anemones, a few orange starfish, a red rock crab, hermit crabs, and snails. Most of the rocks were dry and not slippery, but we were very cautious and did not go near the edge. The right side of the beach is where Bob Creek runs down onto the shore. There were several other people there viewing the wildlife, but there was plenty of parking. While we were there, we saw a sea lion come onto the shore. Unfortunately, he was skinny, and his ribs were visible. I reported seeing him to the wildlife rescue, I hope that they were able to help him. Rating from F to A+++, I give it an A+++.

I personally don't see anything but it was a nice stop for the kids to walk, stretch their legs, and see the tide pools. I sat down on the bench and surprisingly found reception there. The trails are all paved to the chair but then there is a sharp decline towards the water. It was a windy cold day so we didn't stay very long. We went in mid July and the blackberries were starting to come out so this would be a fun area to explore. We got a few blackberries but they were mostly tart.

Instead of going up to the Cape…read morePerpetua Visitors Center, we stopped at the small lot by the information placards and wooden bridge right off the highway. The parking area can only hold about 4 vehicles. It's about a half mile to spouting horn from the little parking area. The trail is a loop and takes you right back to the bridge. There are plenty of photo opportunities along the trail. The trail is paved and well-maintained. There are no restrooms along this trail. If you need a restroom, you will need to go up to the the visitors center. Come during high tide for the most dramatic spouts and splashes. Highly recommend.

This is a beautiful short walk that goes from the beach parking lot to the lighthouse. I've gone…read morehere several times and it's always gorgeous, even when it's foggy and raining. There are wild blackberries that grow along the path that you can snack on or take home with you if you go at the right time of the year, which is an added plus! The bathrooms by the beach parking lot are rough. They are not for the faint of heart or faint of nose. You're better off holding it until you can get to downtown Florence and use the public bathrooms there.

The Hobbit Trail would make JRR Tolkien proud. The trailhead is a subtle affair and easily found…read moremainly due to the other cars parked at the trailhead. Parking is available on both sides of the highway, but remember, it's hwy 101 and traffic can be heavy. Because there is so much vehicle traffic as well as hikers coming and going, there are enough eyes there to make you feel okay about leaving your car there locked up. The trail itself starts out fairly smooth with gentle ups and downs, but get a bit more aggressive as you continue. A walking stick of some sort really comes in handy on a few of the steps and turns. As you progress towards the coast the forest starts to get thicker and darker like Mirkwood. The rays of diffuse sunlight scattered by drifting mists definitely lends a mystical element to the surroundings. Some of the trees are so twisted and gnarled that you might almost expect Treebeard or another Ent to come pacing past you. We did come across a gnome that was cleverly hidden by someone. After about a mile the trail reaches the end where the last section gets a bit steeper with plenty of roots to avoid. This is a very well used trail and there are a lot of very friendly hikers going both directions. The trail then opens onto a very large beautiful flat sandy beach with a cliff wall to your immediate south and a long flat sandy beach to the north. We found our first sandfall! A waterfall but it was sand, not water. Sand from the hillside above the cliffs was just pouring and cascading over the rocky edge. I posted a brief video of one with this review. All in all it was a good hike for a guy with a bum knee, anything worse than that should probably not try the whole trail. Mainly because a couple places had steps in and around roots that were probably around 1 to 2 foot steps. If you do push on to the bottom, the beach is worth it. Lots of very friendly smiling people and an awful lot of very well behaved dogs. I think the magic in this is that it was all so clean. The hike back out was easier than I had anticipated but there is no ADA assistance.
