In the spring of 2025, my husband, Jamie, needed to have his gallbladder removed after experiencing persistent problems and inflammation. His surgery was initially scheduled for about a month later, but when his symptoms continued to worsen, we contacted Dr. Nguyen. After discussing what Jamie was experiencing, we decided it was best not to wait--and it was a good thing we didn't. Dr. Nguyen performed the surgery the very next day at Good Samaritan Hospital. Dr. Nguyen is not only an expert in his field, but he also has an exceptional bedside manner. He was attentive, reassuring, and continued to follow up after the procedure. Jamie recovered wonderfully. Fast-forward to September 2026, when Jamie developed severe abdominal pain and went to the emergency room at El Camino Hospital. Testing revealed appendicitis, and we were so relieved to discover that Dr. Nguyen was there and would once again be performing his surgery. Jamie has endured several serious health challenges over the past few years, including vestibular migraines and open-heart surgery at Stanford for an aortic aneurysm, which required part of his aorta to be replaced. Needless to say, he has been through a lot. Seeing Dr. Nguyen immediately lifted his spirits because he knew he would literally be in the best hands. Jamie is currently recovering in the hospital, where he is being monitored because of his medical history, but the surgery went extremely well, and we are confident he will have another smooth recovery. After consulting with Dr. Wynn and him checking me out; he was not confident that a hernia was my problem so he ordered a CAT scan with contrast. "Because of my past procedures" After getting the results back he informed me that I did not have a hernia and that the cause most likely is from scar tissue. Apparently this program uses a name that has evolved from a company which offered a vitamin based supplement diet. I had never heard of it. From what I can tell this program has evolved and adapted to include the vitamin method, as before, along with the more recent use of a compounded Semaglutide regimen. When I scheduled a consult, I had no idea what they offered. I did know they, if applicable to the patient, offer the Semaglutide injections. I also know that in my lifetime, I had read, researched, and tried, just about every new thing, fad or well-marketed swindle that came my way re: losing, managing, maintaining weight. I have never stopped yo-yoing. I know about boutique-style "medical" spas (aka injection clinics) that offer facials, etc with their pokes. I know about autonomous online doctor methods that send you the injectables to administer yourself and say "good luck" ... and then there's all kinds of other methods which range vastly in between. I'm in my 50's and it's getting easier to accept assistance and support in life. Ex for weightloss: I need reminding of the importance to do my part in this journey to get to healthier me. I do appreciate and accept the counseling part of their program during weekly's because I also needed weekly accountability to check in. I needed to be told to take essential vitamins (and then have someone just hand me them- amazing). And I needed someone to ask me "any hiccups? New side effects? Cravings" (or the like). I love this, if, for any reason than to know they are jotting my answers in my file and that info is a good reference to bounce from for the following week's weigh-in.
