Three years ago I went to Dr Syverian and lost 40 pounds over 6 months. I was told medication would stop working and it did. Got some other medication to help with appetite, but didn't help me. I would say you definitely should do some exercise to keep your arms and butt somewhat formed! Also need to know take some supplement and protein due to hair loss. I was very happy as it helped with my diabetes. Three years later I gained half of the weight that I had lost. I'm back on Phentermine and is working. I have increased my protein intake and exercise to not have the same issue. I've lost 16 pounds and very happy. I hope to lose 10 more pounds. This time at the end I will be more careful and get more exercise. This has been my experience. I feel so much better health wise and mentally. I forgot one thing. Phentermine might be little strong at first. You might have to cut the pill in half for a about a week till you get used to it. I was referred to this clinic by my personal trainer and I had high expectations. I called and made an appointment specifically with Dr Syverain as my trainer knows him and wanted me to meet with him. Upon arrival, only a physician assistant came to see me to hand out a list of what to eat, what not to eat and provide pricing to their different programs. There was no personal assessment and also no opportunity of speaking to the doctor to discuss the impact of the appetite suppressants on my health personally. The assistant simply didn't have the depth of knowledge I was hoping for to assess my needs personally or provide answers to my questions. So how could I make an informed decision? I guess it wasn't worth the doctors time to come to the appointment, to make an assessment and sent in a person just to waste my time. Very disappointed! read more

I started my treatment with Dr Syverain in 2008. I had gained 40 lbs after graduating from college and after I saw an over weight friend going to Dr Syverain and losing weight I decided to give it a try. It was a slow process at the begining and in 6-7 months I lost about 20 lbs, taking the diet pills and eating healthy. No alcohol the entire time and I also kept the no carb diet more than the first two weeks that I was directed. It was difficult but when you see results it's inspiring. My down fall is that I did not go to the gym, so if you go to the gym you see better and faster results. It was at 25 lbs that I stopped losing weight, I had plateaued and I would not lose weight. So I stopped the diet and pills and went off for a couple of months. Gained about 5 lbs and after giving my body a break I started again. This time I stayed with it and I lost another 25 lbs over 6 months and I did about an hour of cardio 3-4 times a week. from mid 2009 and 2010 I was in great shape, I ate healthy during the week and only on weekends I'd eat my favorite food in smaller portions and minimal alcohol intake. I would weigh myself every day and as soon as I'd see any changes I'd monitor my food to make sure I don't gain weight. I'll be honest with you, 4 years has passed since I started the weight loss thing and it's a work in progress. Dr Syverain is not a miracle worker, you have to change your life style and if you think you can take a magic pill and lose weight you are wrong. You may lose some weight but you have to maintain the healthy life style to keep the weight off. I have gained 15 lbs since late 2011 as I have been let go of my routine due to life stresses and I need to go back to Dr Syverain before the weight gain becomes out of control. as you know it is very easy to gain weight, especially as you age and much harder to lose it as well. I have been to both San Jose and Redwood City offices and have always had a pleasant experience with the staff and Dr himself. On numerous ocassions I have gone to Dr Syverain's office for other health issues and they have always accomodated me. The price for the pills and shots are not cheap but I do not regret spending this money. read more

Normal customer service. I went in for an immigration exam and the girl was pretty clear on the whole procedure and they printed out the forms for me as well which was nice of them as not all places do that for you. I suggest you bring your own forms done prior just to be more efficient but you don't have to. Day of the exam was quick took an hour max, mainly me filling out the pages took about 15 to 20 minutes. Only thing I was a bit apprehensive about was receiving the tests results and picking up the final forms. I ended up calling to ask a week later as my lawyers were getting impatient on the time the results were taking. They told me they were ready. When I got them, the blood work results showed they had been faxed a couple days prior which made me wonder if they had received my results that long ago and just didn't call me. Edit: I changed my review rating because Dr.Syverain was kind enough to reach out to me and apologize for the wait time and what happened with me results. He was a very sincere man and assured me he will speak with his staff to improve communication. I recommend his practice as he is a person that truly cares about his business. read more

I've been to other weight close clinic, they all charge way more than they need to and constantly try to get you to buy other things. Not at this place though. They have the best prices I've seen and they don't try to get you to buy things you aren't interested in. I go in during the week and its never too busy, I get seen very quickly and the appt takes no time at all. The girls in there that see you (take your blood pressure and things like that) are all so sweet and nice, very friendly. I just got back from another visit there and as always the experience was great. I've recommended quite a few people to this place and they weren't disappointed. OMG... They are such a rip off. Healow app is where I found them and the app ask all about your insurance and what kind of coverage you have. I went there all the way from Los Altos and they said we only take CASH!!!!! I told them that the website where I made the appointment didn't say anything about not taking Insurance and Dr. Syverain didn't accept their own mistake and said either you pay $175 CASH to get your mom visited or goodbye. Even the laptop there was from World War 2.....they even didn't know where it said cash only on their website. If I want to pay $175 I will go to some well known doctor not him!!!!! I should start off by saying I lost 10lbs in a month so the program does work. The place gets 3 stars for these reasons: 1. Absolute longest waiting time I have ever experienced. Basically make you wait over 1.5 hrs. 2. You don't see the doctor. You either meet a PA or Nurse practitioner. 3. Hidden costs, be prepared to shell out over $300 on your first visit. 4. $100 EKG that isn't covered by insurance or the staff has no clue how insurance systems work. 5. Drugs are doled out of a cubby room by someone who isn't a pharmacist. Any contraindications with other meds you're taking aren't discussed. 6. Weightloss program is essentially watching a DVD for 30min by dr. Syverian. Totally unprofessional video that made me cringe. That being said, I lost weight and if that's the goal then great. Drove 40 minutes there for a "complimentary" consultation that I booked online, walked out pissed off. Get there, greeted right away, filled out paperwork, sat for less than 5 minutes. As I walked back, I was informed that there's a $100 consultation fee. That was a surprise to me. The lady asked, "No one up front told you?" Well, quite frankly, no. She steps away and comes back, saying "it's basically complimentary because the $100 fee will go towards my procedure today should I choose to do it." Umm. Excuse me? Complimentary is complimentary...not a hidden non-refundable fee that goes towards my consultation/procedure if I even choose to have it done. Just be honest up front! I walked out, saying this wasn't getting off to a good start and there's been two other places I've been to that didn't charge for a complimentary consultation. There's so many options for the procedure I want out there that I wanted to be confident on what was best for me. Ugh. Wasted my morning getting here.
