Considering I needed 12 new batteries for the house and engines, there's huge price disparities in my options. They came out on time as promised. Text messages to let you know every step of the way. Upfront pricing so you know what to expect. While I'm hoping they can find a way to have a Cummins certified mechanic on board, Old Town Marine is clearly number one go to in the Keys. Couldn't be happier to have found Old Town Marine.

Then after taking the job, they decided that they could not do the fiberglass work. So, I agreed that they would do the 300 hr. service on both engines. Next, after several weeks and spending a day trying to put the lower back on in Starboard engine, they told me I needed a new one. And that an overhauled one would be about $1,800. I agreed to pay and asked them to order one. Then the mechanic took a 2 week vacation, and all work stopped. I could not get through to the service manager either, for several days. Next they told me to buy a lower unit (that they found on e-Bay) and they would install it. (There are a lot more bad details that I am skipping over.) Long story made short: after 3 + months and over $18,000 in charges - we got the boat back into the water. With more problems than we had before. The throttle/shift controls were so stiff you could barely operate the boat. They said we needed new cables. We checked the cables. That was not the problem. The new trim units they installed constantly leaked too. Finally I took the boat to another, reputable service company. The "new" lower unit was coming apart because the overhaul was done incorrectly. The "new" shift shaft was bent on their installation, which caused the control problems. So I spend $9,000 more to repair the damage done by this outfit!

It was so bad, I don't wish to have anyone else use their services! See below! Key Marine Service... CONSUMER ALERT I wanted to share an experience we had with Key Marine Service in hopes that no one else has to go through the same issues. We hired them to install a generator on our Cat. They assured us they had done this several times before and it would be no problem. A monin later and several problems, over 6 thousand dollars spent on the install and our generator was still not operational. The boat was a mess because of the work and traffic and we were over it. Here is what Harbor Marine Electric found when they came to the boat to inspect and correct the issues: Inspect generator install. Covered and awaiting parts order. We ended up hiring Harbor Marine Electric to come in and correct everything that was wrong and dangerous. Tyrone and his team did an outstanding job fixing the mess that was handed to them. Even with ordering new injectors they had everything straightened up in 4 days. It cost me over $4,000 to have Key Marine Services messed cleaned up and made right. What was Key Marine Service response? They were sorry, gave me $1,000 refund and $1,000 towards any other future services, like I'd ever let them near my boat again. Josh told me he was sorry they couldn't do more. Sorry?? They could have done more, they could have stood behind their poor performance and picked up the bill, but they didn't. If you're considering using Key Marine Service you really need to think long and hard. They choose to put my wife, me and my boat at risk and chose to not stand behind their performance. Rodney even recommended a product and color-matched a grey that perfectly complements my hull. The end result exceeded my expectations -- the boat looks even better than before. Bunch of guys got on my boat, 55'r, and decided that for my boat to fit in there hoist my rigging needed to be disconnected, to lift it out. The guy from Harbor Marine asked what I needed, told him my bilge pumps stopped working and I have a list of things I wanted done. He asked me if I had a budget and I should had said not yet, instead I said $100k. I grab a hotel room down the street and came back the next day to see that indeed they were pumped out 1 bilge into a 55gal drum, cool. Tried to talk to Tyrone the owner of Harbor, he's busy, come back tomorrow. Came back the following day and nothing had changed from yesterday. The hose was in the same place, no one is on my boat. Again I tried to have a conversation and was told he's at lunch. I waited on my boat and went back to the office, nothing. The very next day, same everything. My wife decided to fly home and I moved onto my boat. We get an email from Robbie's saying we owed them approximately $380. No big deal, just pay it honey, wonder what that was for, do they bill weekly rent. In the meantime, Harbor wants to talk finally and they hand me a quote for $117, 000. They ran with the most expensive items and glazed over some items I wanted. They completely ignored specific requests. There's no way I'm paying this amount. I went back to the Internet and I priced everything on their list and found out that they were charging me 22% in some cases over retail and then a couple items 33% over retail. Back to the bilge issue, Unannounced to me or my wife, they submitted a bill to Robbies Marina for $3800. And that we were responsible for 10% over that to go to Robbies Marina to the tune to $380. Harbor Marine did not give me an invoice or anything at the time. I guess they figured that if they were going to charge me that amount of money to pump out one bilge and leave the other bilge full, let's not say anything until we present this quote. In that quote, at my request, I wanted a solar arch put on the back of my boat. In conversation, they said it would be approximately $10-$12,000. My response, is that installed, of course. After the quote was denied, the solar arch jumped from $12,000-$18,000 and that would not cover installation. At this point, our relationship is turning into an adversarial one. It was all about extracting as much as they could get. Come time to leave Robbie's Marina they refuse to make my boat whole again, suggested I call a rigger to reconnect my standing rigging.
