First of all, it's very rare that I go to the trouble of writing reviews, and they're only for when I've had a great and positive experience. I never negative reviews at all because I believe that if a business or a person continues to NOT do right by their customers, it'll catch up to them sooner or later. I'm writing this negative review of Cornelius Dry Cleaners because I just had a very horrible experience with them, which left me feeling as if I had deliberately been taken and taken advantage of. Before I get into it, a little background context: I started going to CDC a few years ago. Right away, I was up against a communications hurdle because in fact, her English is very broken and limited, and it was difficult to communicate my alteration needs; even so, I wanted to support this small family business so on the occasions when I need something altered, I would go there. Each time, I was less than satisfied, because somehow it was never done as I had asked, but I would 'live with it'. NO MORE. Recently, I took in a skirt that needed to be taken in at the waistline, and I had gone to great trouble to pin it exactly where it needed to be taken in and where the darts needed to be placed. She asked if I wanted it dry-cleaned I declined (it didn't need it) and made sure to clarify to her that it only needed the alteration done, whereupon she told me it would be ready in a week. I went in today and picked up my skirt, brought it home, took it out of the plastic and removed the pins holding it to the hanger and tried it on, all the while noticing that the waistline seemed just as large as ever. I then looked at the inside of the skirt (it was a lined skirt) and there was no indication or evidence whatsoever that ANYTHING had been done! Knowing full well that it wasn't going to fit, I still put it on, and sure enough, the skirt still fell down around my hips! NOTHING had been altered at all! I was understandably upset; even so, I maintained a calm demeanor when I called Cornelius Dry Cleaners to find out why the skirt hadn't been altered, but all I got from the woman was that she couldn't understand me. After another attempt to explain why I was calling, and again being told that she didn't understand me I gave up and simply said that I would never again come in again, whereupon she laughed. Yes, that's right: SHE LAUGHED, so I knew then that she HAD understood me. Anyway, that's been MY experience, I wish y'all a better experience than I've had, but again, if it's alterations that you're needing to have done, DON'T go to Cornelius Dry Cleaners. I myself have determined that I will go somewhere else even if it's not conveniently located.
