I'm not one to typically leave reviews but I felt compelled to this time. I live in the area and have been to this salon many times - usually it turns out great which is why this review is still 4 stars. If I were to give this review solely based on today it would have been more like a 1 or 2 star review. My technician was kind and pleasant enough, but not only did she make me jump in pain twice she also left my nails looking so unfinished I had to go home and fix them up. She seemed either scatter brained or possibly new to the dip process, but either way I was very unenthused by the end. This will not make me never go back, but I will definitely be a lot more selective on my technicians next time. UPDATE: 8 days after getting these nails done, one of the nails snapped in half. I had noticed a crack/line running all the way across this nail only 3 days after getting them done but it didn't snap until now (see photo). Luckily this salon offers 10 day warranties so I will go back and have someone (not the original woman) fix it. UPDATE 2: It's now about 2 weeks after the initial dip set and yet another nail has snapped in the same way the first one did. At this point I'm dropping the stars to 3 and I will be going back in to have the set removed - end of story. This is ridiculous. read more

Quality has certainly decreased in the nail technicians. My last visit I have 5 open cuts from tech using the file on my skin and during the "sanding" portion of acrylics. There are a lot of shortcuts and bad attitudes. Today I had a pedicure and an acrylic nail fix. The massage with the pedicure was short and uneventful. Mostly just her fingers in my shinbones. After my pedicure she fixed my acrylic nail but there's now a heap of super glue underneath the nail and on my skin, she filed the nail too short compared to my other nails and she too cut me twice only working on 2 nails. I came in today for a regular manicure, gel removal from toes and a delux pedicure. Every time I come to this place I am treated with care and the work is beautiful. However, today I had to write a review because the person that did my pedicure was unbelievably wonderful! Everything he did was careful, he took his time, made sure it looked great before moving on, and had a nice personality on top! This salon gave me a terrible fungal infection of the right thumb nail. They also made me pay to have the dip removed, very unapologetic about the infection. I had to go to a doctor and was put on an oral anti fungal and antibiotic! Took forever to regrow my nail and I was lucky the doctor was able to save it. Likely they don't properly sterilize the tools....so gross. I have been getting my nails done for decades and this is the first time this has never happend before. read more

Came in for a gel pedicure. My master did an awesome job. She was very attentive, soft and very accurate. I enjoyed my massage in a chair while I was getting my toe banished done. ***EDIT: so apparently the lady at the front desk who made my appointment and checked me in LIED to me about my technician. I had made my appointment with Ivy but the lady who was paired with me was actually LEE! I Found this out when Ivy contacted me after she saw my review*** This was my first time coming here and I made an appointment to get gel nails plus the removal of old gel polish. When Ivy started working on my nails she used an electric filer to take EVERYTHING off (I thought this was a little weird cuz other nail technicians I've gone to usually use foil to soak the gel at some point, but I didn't think much of it). After my old gel polish was removed, she pulled out different materials and I didn't realize what she was doing till she dipped her brush into powder for acrylics. Turns out the lady who checked me in thought My natural nails were acrylic and told Ivy I wanted a gel fill. (I never mentioned anything about acrylics or fills, I just said regular gel). Fast forward 3 weeks later when I noticed that a lot of my nails had started cracking!!! (4 different nails totAl). And to make it worse, they weren't even cracking at the tip they were CRACKING IN THE MIDDLE OF MY FINGER (see attached photos). 2 of my nails ended up breaking off completely when I was doing normal things (like scratching my leg???). But they broke off too low to file down, so I have to wait for them to grow out a little to trim the broken pieces off. Never have my nails ever broken or cracked when I've had gel nail polish. NEVER, even with my long nails. And sure if 1 broke or cracked I would understand since my nails are long, but 4 at once??? That's unbelievable. I believe this only happened because the lady at the front and Ivy thought I had acrylics, so the nail filer she used was a lot more rough on my natural nails and weakened (possibly thinned) them. I'm sure this was just a unfortunate, bad case but this upset me so much that I had to write a review. **edit: especially now after being lied to about what technician I had, I DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL** read more

i have given this place a chance so many times and want to like coming here but my experiences here are inconsistent and this time was so disappointing... as soon as i arrived, i was rushed into picking a color before i was ready, causing me immediate discomfort. i felt as if it's so they can turn and burn and make as much money as possible. on my dip nails portion, the texture came out bumpy and my color came out completely different than the color i chose. i jumped from pain a couple times and ended with 3 knicks on my skin and at one point i saw my own blood on the nail file... i voiced my concerns about the color being wrong and l still paid $130 with nearly tears in my eyes because of how stressful that experience felt. overall just felt like a massive waste of time and money. They offered for me to come back and they could repaint over the dip but after spending almost 3 hours in there and that much money it doesn't feel like an enticing offer rather than just finding somewhere else that is more consistent update : these are the worst nails of my life :,) 10 days later im still upset read more

I've been going here for 6 years since moving to San Diego. At first the quality of the service was unmatched. My nails were always so on point, the best work, clean. Over the past two years I've seen a change. First, I've had multiple nails infections from the pedicurist cutting too deep. Not fun. My manicures have become trash. Every time they chip within days, huge cracks every time I do Dip. They also don't do any kind of cleaning of your actual nail or cuticle if you get dip which is $60 and then you have to pay extra to get old removed and cuticles. Just not worth the money for a half a** service. Not sure why the dip ccolor always chips and cracks now but I've read it could be due to old or cheap polish being used. I've watched them re-use tools. Gag. I've skip if I was you! Owners are nice which is what my stars are for! read more

I've been going to this nail spa on and off for a couple years. The only reason I go there is it's convenient to my home and parking. Certainly not for the customer service. I will not be returning after the last two times I've gone there spent well over $100 for gel fill manicure and pedicure, and a week after the polish started chipping, I went in to get it fixed. The owner was there he fixed it only one nail, the next day the other nail started chipping. He had a really bad attitude. I was trying to talk to him to find out how to prevent this from happening in the future he was very smug and dismissive, I will not be returning! Not worth the money or the aggravation. read more

Possibly the worst mani&pedi ever received. Pedi was done in less than 10 minutes with the lady literally plastering the thick nail polish all over the cuticle and wiping it off with acetone. She used the same method on my finger nails so I had to call the manager. Surprisingly, the manager was making excuses ... considering that I've gotten my nails done for over 10+ years. I really hate leaving bad reviews but don't go here unless you just need a quick fix that will peel off in few days. read more

I found out this place from a girl at a workout class. I called and was given an appointment the next day. To say that Diane made all my nail dreams come true would be an understatement. She's so talent and precise. I got a dip with design on all 10 nails, and it took about 2 hours from start to finish. I also broke one of my nails a week after getting them done while playing frisbee, but the salon was nice enough to fix it for free. I'll definitely be a regular customer here! read more

When I went to Professionail on Washington Street, for a pedicure I was given an available manicurists. My first impression was that she was new and inexperienced. That was OK with me until she cut my toe with nail clippers. My toe bled profusely. I stopped the pedicure. The staff put a bandage on my toe. I went home and cleaned and applied Polysporin to the cut. Be careful at Professionail. Ask for experienced nail specialist only. read more

I've been going here for over a year now and I used to love it!l Unfortunately, the last few times I've been the service was terrible. I got my nails done Friday evening and my nail broke on Saturday night. I came back Monday to get my nail fixed and they told me I had to pay an extra five dollars because their 10 day fix policy doesn't cover acrylics which isn't what they told me on the phone before I drove over there. The time before this they added extra charges on my bill without telling me before doing my nails. I hate to say it, but this salon has gone downhill and I will be going elsewhere. I have been coming to this location for over 10 years and now that Sarah (manager/owner) is not there it's slowly becoming a very disappointing experience. The tenured nail techs are good so if you get one of them you'll get a decent set. The new hires are not great. They often have to ask for help with basic designs and even the manager on duty has to step in to help. My manicures with them have been sub par and painful including bleeding. The vibe is now unprofessional with sloppy attire like sweats and oversized sweatshirts. Also, you can tell there is tension between the techs. Lines used to be out the door with a guaranteed nice product. That's not the case anymore. With being located in Mission Hills you would expect more. A lot of the good techs are leaving which makes sense. It's pretty sad. :( I'm giving them 2 stars because there are still some decent techs there. So if you get one of them you'll be okay. read more

After going here several times it's very hit or miss. Today my nail technician nicked my cuticles on THREE different fingers and they bled for a bit. It also hurt every time she applied alcohol to the nails too. She didn't even acknowledge the fact that she accidentally cut me or apologize. I got a dip set and her application was uneven and she had to go back and correct it. The color of the dip was also weird and uneven looking too. Additionally, most of the time I leave and my hands and forearms feel soft and smooth and today they felt sticky and gross when I left.
