I have been going to Em Nails Salon consistently since they opened and I truly can't recommend them enough. I get my nails and toes done every three weeks, and they have never let me down. The quality of their work is always amazing--my nails last, look beautiful, and they really pay attention to detail every single time. What I love most is how consistent they are, I always leave happy. The salon is clean, welcoming, and the staff is so friendly and professional. I came in for a simple French gel manicure and was really disappointed with both the quality and the service. By the very next day--after nothing more than a normal shower--the gel was already lifting, chipping, and even coming off from the sides of multiple nails. I returned the next day to have it fixed, which I shouldn't have had to do in the first place. Instead of taking accountability, I was told that maybe it was due to my nails being "too thin." That response was frustrating and unprofessional. A properly applied gel manicure should last at least 1-2 weeks, not fall apart within 24 hours. Having to come back the next day was a complete waste of my time--especially since I have an important event today and expected my nails to be done correctly the first time. Overall, this was a poor experience in both workmanship and customer service. I would not recommend this salon if you're looking for quality or reliability. read more

I am from OC and I come to SD pretty often. Every time I'm in town, I stop by this nail salon. It's become my go-to spot. The salon is so cozy and super cute with a soft pink theme that makes the space feel warm and relaxing. I usually get my nails done by Amy, and she's amazing. She has years of experience and it really shows in her work. She always gets the shape exactly how I like it, and her work is very clean and long-lasting (no lifting or breaking) This cat-eye set is totally my style and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. I was in town and needed my nails done badly before a work event. I found this spot on Yelp and called about an hour before closing to confirm if they could take me, and Emily herself answered the phone and let me know I could come in for a mani and pedi. Parking was rough and I had to circle around for a bit, but I eventually found a spot near the front. When I walked in, two nail techs were able to start right away. One of them did not speak much English, so the other tech helped communicate, which was not an issue at all. They were both friendly and did a great job. Pricing was fair for a gel mani and pedi, and Emily finished off my nails. She seemed a little shy and did not talk much, but overall the service was solid. I usually hope for a more relaxing vibe when I go into a nail salon, so something like a nice candle, calming music, or even being offered a beverage would really elevate the experience. It has been a couple of weeks since my visit and my gel nails still look great. I would definitely come back the next time I am in town. Just a heads up, the area does have some homeless nearby, so be mindful when parking and walking to the salon. Also, when you plan to tip, each nail tech has their own QR code for Zelle or Venmo, so be prepared to send tips individually. read more

Unfortunately, the polish is uneven and pooling (see attached), the exfoliation was minimal, and I was left with sharp edges on several nails causing discomfort. I let the gentleman know I wanted flowers and rainbow toes . I got the European gel pedicure, With white french tip and my total was $63. This is a fair price, and would've been cheaper if I had done the standard pedicure or not done gel- but I love how long gel lasts and the techs at ems always apply it beautifully! The leg massage and steamer is a nice plus. It's very calm at ems and they always have a movie or show playing in the back which I like. The parking is metered on the street but I never have an issue finding a spot, the furthest I've walked was around the block. 10/10, my go to when I'm in the area! read more

Welp! Today is another day. I am standing outside this establishment with parking I already paid for and no one is here. The place is locked and lights are off. I had a scheduled appointment at 10 am and no one sent anything indicating they would not be open today. I really love how they do my nails, but a lack of respect for their clients time is what I'm feeling today. The nail tech arrived as I was heading to my car and she was very apologetic and I learned that sometimes sh*t happens, we are all human. Called in the morning to make an appointment and was able to get an appointment the same day a few hours later. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by all the employees and asked to sit down. My nail tech immediately called me over and asked for inspo pics or color choices. Since I was getting ready to leave my Barbie themed bachelorette trip a few days later, I had about 10 inspo pics. I was able to walk in on a Friday morning at 10:30am and be seated right away without an appt. The place is well located and is clean. The person who did my "Deluxe" pedi spent the time chatting with the tech next to her and seemed distracted by being both the receptionist and doing my service. The water was cold, the callous removal was painful and not thorough, the massage was half assed for a total of 5 minutes. After she painted my nails she just disappeared to the back of the salon. Another tech doing a mani noticed me looking for her and called her so that I could pay and leave. The techs doing manicures seemed more professional. read more
