I was waiting in the chair next to the door, which was right under a plant. very odd placement and awkward. $50 for gel, it was an alright experience, but i did have higher expectations. I came to Noir Haus Nails with my nails in crisis, they were super short, splitting, breaking in the middle - really painful. Gaia diligently worked my nails into beauties! I was excited to try out this little mail salon because it is so close to my house. I made an appointment and was seen right away. I believe my nail technician name was Jacqueline. She was super cool and I loved my nails. I went pretty basic with just a gel color and an accent nail. The decor is fun and they even have some wine. It is east village so there was a crazy man who came to the door but they got him to move along fast which was nice. So that was great. I would totally go again. read more

Over priced hard to get an appointment only one person does pedicures - not a relaxing comfy chair or environment

So I was walking my dog and I noticed this new nail salon in the neighborhood. How convenient! (If you live in East Village since you don't have to drive). For others, it may not be worth it because we all know how parking is downtown. I decided to look at their IG first and noticed that they specialize in Apres Gel-X which is rare to see in San Diego. They also do gel overlays and use quality products. The nail techs that they have also have their IG accounts on the business page so you can see which nail tech would be best suited for you. It's so easy to book on the website and to see the price averages. I got the noir haus pedi and the gel overlay with gel polish on my nails. I got there and it was great. They offered me a beverage (wine, tea or water) and waited about 5 min to start my pedicure. Pedicure took about an hour and it was lovely (Vann was my tech). However I came into the appointment thinking that they would do my hands and feet at the same time, they did not. Good thing I had the whole day off so I had time to kill. If you don't have time, I suggest calling and ensuring that you get all services done at once. Or just book a pedi or manicure at separate days because I spent over 3 HOURS there and the small space isn't well equipped to handle 2 techs by the pedicure stations. I felt so bad for the other ladies who also had to wait. After my pedicure, I had to wait 30 min for my manicure because the tech doing my nails was still working on a client. Took at least 30 min for my acrylic removal ($15 charge that wasn't quoted before). Took over an hour for the gel overlay and gel polish process. Frustrated, I was so ready to be out of there. So with tip, it came to ~$144. To make matters worse, my nails chipped in 2 days. Their saving grace is that they fixed my nails for free. If it wasn't convenient for me, I wouldn't go back. They also didn't have a lot of my initial polish color choices since they are still new and working on their inventory. However, I will go back because they have good customer service at the end of the day and they are dog friendly. I also want to try their Apres Gel-X. Will update soon. It's a great addition to East Village and San Diego for sure. They just have to work out some kinks that come as a small business that just opened. read more

Took gel nails off for a little break. Needed a basic manicure. I usually go to LV NAILS, but was closer to this place and i figured would try it. Call went like this "Hello" "Hi my name is Kim and wondering if you could make time for me before closing for a BASIC maincure, just took gel nails off and really need one. " .Her (pausing) : i guess so but was just locking up, can you be here in 15 minutas? Me; Yes I then ran to get there in 15 minutes thinking i was holding her from leaving. Nope she was doing another persons nails and then Her; i will be about 10 min linger I was totally fine with waiting. Then i happen to ask her if she had a nail store thing base coat. She said "no, ohhhh you want a plain manicure. I don't do those. I asked if she could just do the most basic, didn't even need polish. At this point I needed hands to be presentable for next day. Her: You mean clean up nails? Me : a plain manicure, like i asked when called Her: No i ONLY do gel manicures. I don't clean up the nails and cuticle. A nail place that doesn't do manicures!!! Who would go to a nail salon that can't do the most basic service?! I ran down to the ladies at LV nails If i wanted just gel nail polish, I could use UV light and gel nail polish i have at home. At my regular nail salon I usually get the works every two weeks. Gel tips and gel pedicure. They lost out on a great client, maybe it was because the regular manicures are a waste of her time. ODD place. There are many other nail salons with in blocks including the one i highly recommend Want to add, because I ran there and she told me over the phone she could take me, why not make an exception? I've been looking for a new place closer to home and decided to check this place out. I've been here a few times, specifically with Cathy and the service is great. The place itself is small but very cute, love that you can schedule online ahead of time. Every time I go they are ready for me and I am not waiting in front of someone else- this is the main reason I was looking for a new place, where they were going to take me on the time we agreed upon. Prices are reasonable compared to other salons and the work they do is awesome. I only go for a simple gel mani but at other places where its packed and they are in a rush they can definitely do a sloppy job. Not only is Dara very friendly but she is meticulous in her attention to detail which I truly appreciate in a nail technician. I did not book for nail art but luckily she had time to accommodate my request. I paid $95 for the nails themselves which I feel is fair considering other salons make you pay separately for nail enhancements + manicure whereas the manicure is included in the price here. Super rude staff. I made an appointment over the phone, but when I walked in I was told I never made the appointment. I was grilled about which salon I called and what number I called in front of the entire salon. At that point I should have left, but they finally confirmed I had an appointment. Jacqueline did my nails both times was excellent! My biggest issue is they need more regular polish colors. I got gel polish on my hands and regular on my toes, which is typical. I am beyond excited to have found this place. I've lived in downtown San Diego for 6 years and have yet to find a nail salon that I like. I live in East Village, where there are surprisingly no nail salons...so to have one finally walking distance is amazing! I'm a Spa Director in a luxury hotel, so you should trust me when I say this place is the best! I found Noir Haus through Vagaro when I was searching for Apres nail extensions. If you don't know, Apres extensions are basically press on nails made of gel, that secure to your nail with gel. They help your natural nails grow. In fact, I switched to Apres after 10 years of acrylics and I was able to grow out my natural nails as long as I used to get my tips! My nails in the pic are my natural nails. I was only getting gel manicures at my spa, until I broke 2 nails clean off in wild laundry accident. My pointer and pinky finger broke clean off. Enter...Apres. I scheduled a soft gel manicure with Apres on my 2 broken nails and VOILÀ. My 2 broken nails are magically long, beautiful, and natural looking again. The best part, they will grow out to be the same length as the rest of nails and still be strong. Vanna was great. So sweet, a great conversationalist, and very knowledgeable in her craft. She's the owner and she decorated the space herself. Which seriously I cannot rave enough about! The decor is SO BEAUTIFUL! Nothing comparable in San Diego. So stylish and so chic. It's like, bohemian/glam, with lots of plants and gold accents. Tulum vibes all day. I believe my pedi nail tech was Dara, and my pedicure was the perfect. The experience was luxury. Perfectly shaped nails and perfect polish. They also serve complimentary tea and wine in the cutest little sparkly cups which was a huge plus for me! I think I may just have to forgo free nails services at work and indulge in vibey me time at Noir Haus from now on. One thing is for sure, I will absolutely be sending my guests seeking acrylic and other nail extensions services not offered at my spa here. read more

I really wanted to like this place. It's boutique, woman-owned, and I like supporting small businesses. However, I gave this nail joint three chances and each was a disappointment. Each time I have been made to wait over 20 minutes from my scheduled appointment to be seen. Right now I'm in the shop, still waiting to be seen for my 3:45pm appointment that was made last week. If you value your time and dislike it when your time is repeatedly wasted I'd highly recommend that, after reading this review, you save yourself some time and find a different nail salon in which to spend your money. read more

The girl who did my pedicure doesn't know how to work with regular nail polish. My pedicure is completely ruined. I had to repaint my toes again just now!!! The layers were so thick that you could actually see them. Even the marks from my sheets, since she painted SO THICK. The shape is off. Wow.. I want to support my community but not sloppy jobs.
