The great part was that there was no wait and we were able to walk in and get two pedicures, the bad part was that there were a bunch of mosquitoes around the nail place and we got bitten several times. Another con is that when we first got there the water was extremely cold and they turned it into the hot setting and let it get scolding hot to where I almost got burned because they weren't paying attention and their water level takes a while to get warm, I guess. Additionally, I think the part that we didn't like the most about our pedicure was the fact that her cuticles didn't get touched at all, which is the main part that is focused on when we get pedicures every few weeks at other places. would give zero stars if I could. I showed them an inspiration photo and asked beforehand whether they could recreate the design. They assured me they could, but the finished set looked nothing like what I requested. I really wish nail artists would be honest about their artistic capabilities instead of promising a design they cannot execute. I specifically requested square nails. The technician shaped my thumb first, showed it to me, and I approved it because it looked exactly how I wanted. However, once the set was finished, most of the other nails were coffin-shaped, which I specifically did not want. I could have overlooked the inconsistency in shape, but the design itself was completely different from the reference photo. I tried to convince myself that I could live with them, but I couldn't stand how they looked. About 10 minutes after leaving, I applied very little pressure to one nail and it popped off completely intact. The rest came off just as easily within seconds, leaving practically no product or damage on my natural nails. That indicates there was also a serious issue with the preparation or adhesion. A brand-new $100 set should not come off that easily. I also left a $10 tip, so I paid $110 total for nails that looked nothing like my reference and could not even stay attached. I'm extremely disappointed with both the design and the quality of the application. read more

I wanted to get my nails done in SD, as I didn't have time to get them done before I left. I found this one based on its decent reviews on Yelp. Service (4/5): Trina did a great job with this new "hybrid gel" (aka tap gel), that was able to build a length on my otherwise stubby nails. Apparently it will last 4 weeks....we will see. She lost a star from hitting my cuticle a couple times with the rotating nail file (I hate these)! From the other reviews, I thought I would be offered alcohol, but was offered a small bottle of water. Service was fast and efficient..she charged me $75 which included removal of my dip nails. Tip was paid via Venmo, cause who has cash these days? One hour, from start to finish and a short 1 min walk from the Grand Horton Hotel. Vibe: The place was clean and everyone was nice there. The service is good, my nails last a long time and often get confused for gel which is also great. Everyone is always welcoming and friendly. Even when busier, never had a problem with a walk in visit I've also had my eyebrows done here on many occasions and that is where i will give my biggest compliment. For my pedicure I selected option 1, I did not want the callus remover because it is Summertime and I like to be barefoot at pools, waterparks, etc. and having callus' provide an extra cushion to your feet. The lady would not leave me alone until I changed the package that was more expensive to remove my callus'. I let it go and figured she was just trying to help. It then came to me paying & I saw the sign that said tips are not allowed to be on credit or debit and that they must be in cash, venmo & I believe CashApp as well but I could be mistaken. I did not have cash & I do not have accounts for any paying service besides Zelle & Apple Pay. I paid for my service on my credit card and the lady then asked me "how are you going to tip??" I told her I do not have cash or any of those apps & she looked at me wondering what I was going to do, to tip her. I told her I had apple pay and wouldn't mind sending her money that way. She gave me her number and held her phone in her hand looking at her notifications and would not tell me goodbye until I had sent her a tip. It made me feel very uncomfortable and for that, I will not be returning. My gel acrylic fingernails started chipping immediately when I left and I do not feel as anyone should be bullied into getting a more expensive service if they do not want it or bullied into tipping. TIPS are earned, not given. I always tip when I get my nails done but at times when they do not accept tips through credit or debit any nail tech I have got to has not said a word. read more

I came to this salon 5 times. The actual salon atmosphere and lay out is nicer than 90 percent of other salons in the downtown area. The language barrier is worse here than anywhere else I've been. I've had two good sets of nails come out of this place out of 5 sets, I've never been happy with the pedicures. It's not relaxing. Good place to go if you're with a big group and you don't really care how your nails turn out. They serve champagne. read more

My friend and I went we walked in no appointment and got sat almost immediately which was good. they asked us both what we wanted and we both asked for square french tip, my friend had no issues but the lady doing my nails said she "couldn't do the square shape" because my nails were previously almond shape but they were grown out quite a bit all you'd have to do is file them down and they'd be square. she said she could do coffin shape and i said no i don't want that and i can't have that shape at work, so she says okay and then does square shape with no issues... she said she had to take the nails/acrylic i currently had on, off because one singular nail was lifting so i went with it. the service was good it was quick and i really like the out come of my nails. my friend and i go to pay and they forced us to tip before we left, we are the people to always leave tip anyways regardless but, forcing people to tip is ridiculous so we tipped a lot less than we would have for that. a few days after we got them done, they started lifting like crazy and chipping and the white part of the french tip was getting bubbles and stuff in it. i paid $70 something for these nails and the way they looked after just 4 days it looked like i had the on for weeks. would not recommend and definitely not going back. read more

I walked in and the acetone smells were so strong I almost walked out, but they opened the door for fresh air and it got a little better. I went during lunch and got seated right away. Two nail technicians helped (mani/pedi) and both were very friendly. It looks clean and is very well decorated. My nails turned out very nice. My husband went the next day for a mani/pedi and his finger nails didn't look as well filed as they could have been. This was an unexpected surprise! My friends and I walked into this place as we wanted to do an impromptu nail session during our girls weekend. They were able to take all of us despite being full. None of us minded the wait since they were willing to take us. There was water and mimosas for those that like alcohol. The one iffy thing was that my friend got a glass that needed to be cleaned but they brought her another and that was fine. They do cash and if you don't have cash, you can still pay via apple pay and if you want to tip your person specifically, you can ask for their Venmo. They were super nice to accommodate all of us though if you don't have all the time in the world, maybe an appointment would be better? I got a regular manicure which is hand massage, hot towel, then getting into actual manicure part. The cuticle care was pretty good. Normally, cuticle care is my least favorite because salons have a tendency to be rough but they were pretty gentle with it overall. What really inspired me to write this review is how well my manicure was applied! Normally, regular polish means my nails will chip within two days if not the day of but it has been almost a week and no chips at all! I'm impressed. I have saved this spot because the next time I make a trip to San Diego, this is going to be my spot if I want a little mani Pedi time. Since I came as a tourist, I can't really speak for the parking situation. That being said, it is San Diego downtown and with some streets closed, it can be difficult so I'd research parking ahead of time. Last time I came here I got a gel pedicure with the cat eye polish and they did a great job and it was just the normal additional $10 for gel. Came here today and I came in and I picked out another cat eye color for my toes and they immediately were like no you can only do that on your fingernails.
