Noodle and Dog goes against the grain by offering specialty hot dogs along a sleepy stretch of Queens Road in Sheung Wan. With only a couple of tallboy tables, Noodle and Dog operates more as a food stand than it does an actual restaurant. It's a quick process as much as it is a quick meal. The English only menu would suggest that it's non-local friendly, and I've really only seen this as an expat stop, which makes for an easy lunch option. I've downed a good number of meats in tube form and I'll happily admit I've never quite had hot dogs like these before. The classic Noodle Dog ($39) is stacked with arugula, purple onion, one's sausage, fried fish, sesame mayo, and the sausage. The Pekingnese ($39) throws an added spring onion, diced bell peppers, and tofu mayo. There are more premium dogs like the incredible AvocaDog ($69) with air dried goose liver sausage, guacamole, sun dried tomato, pea shoots, and cucumber or the Poseidon ($120) with shrimpcake with crab meat sauce and slabs of uni on top. Or if one wants no bun, there is a Stripped Dog ($20) with chopped hot dog and salad in a cup. There is no shortage of options, that's for sure. This place is more than just hot dogs, there are noodle dishes as well. Tomato Soup Noodle ($25) feels like an homage to the HK cafe version and the Cold Noodle ($20) has a Japanese feel to it. There is also Steamed Rice Rolls (aka 腸粉 - $15) that have a little hot sauce and peanut sauce, which is sure to garner some fandom. Speaking of fandom, they've got one in me. I've enjoyed sampling their hot dogs and hope Noodle and Dog will stick around to share the dog love with Sheung Wan and beyond.

I can sit here all day, except for my ambitious travel itinerary. My own grip is that the beer is rather pricey. A glass is about US$10, and a flight like US$23. Both were great examples of a modern, hoppy beer. They were super cold and refreshing, not cheap, (as you would expect) but totally worth it in my opinion. With its simple wooden tables and decoration, this is definitely like a craft beer bar you'd get in Europe. The music was pretty hit and miss (I mean Take That, really??) but it kinda made for a fun night.
