4 stars! One for each of the things that do it for me: cleanliness, food, price and "Will I come back?" No star for service. Ugh.
Mou Mou Club is a Japanese shabu-shabu buffet restaurant. It is mostly self-service and there is an assortment of vegetables and sides to go with your thinly sliced meats.
I had the Japanese Wagyu Beef All-You-Can-Eat set for HK$368+.
This set comes with free flow everything. Japanese Wagyu beef, all kinds of seafood, chicken, pork... everything. The other sets you can order limits the type of meat is available to you.
It took me almost 15 minutes to work this out with the waiter at the door, so forgive me if I want to share my HARD-EARNED knowledge!
So! For example:
For HK$368, you can have Japanese Wagyu Beef AND seafood and everything else.
For HK$298, its Australian Wagyu Beef, no Japanese Wagyu, no seafood and YES to everything else.
For HK$248, US Supreme Beef Short Rib, no Japanese Wagyu, no seafood, no Australian Wagyu and YES to everything else.
For HK$178, US Supreme Imported Beef, no Japanese Wagyu, no seafood, no Australian Wagyu, no US Supreme Beef Short Rib and YES to everything else.
For HK$158, US Imported Beef, no Japanese Wagyu, no seafood, no Australian Wagyu, no US Supreme Beef Short Rib, no US Supreme Imported Beef and YES to everything else.
For HK$18 more, you can have unlimited Asahi beer too.
There are 6 soup bases to choose from, and you get to choose 2. The pot is divided into 2 sections so you can cook your stuff in either one. The soup bases are: Seaweed Soup, Kimchi Soup, Katsuo Soup, Tomato Soup, Pork Base soup, Sweet Soy Soup.
I chose the Pork Base Soup and Sweet Soy Soup.
It's really up to you how you want to cook and eat. But for health and safety, please remember to use separate chopsticks for raw and cooked food. That means, use one set for putting in the raw meat, and eat with another set of chopsticks.
Also, erm, sorry to sound like a naggy mother: Let the soup boil up a little after you dump in a load of raw meat and vegetables, please?
I like the variety of meats and sides offered. I like the attentive service staff. There is a time limit of 90 minutes from when you sit down to eat. But when I ate here, there was no crowd waiting for my table, so I was not asked to leave.
I also like that you can get them to top-up your boiled down broth with extra soup (not just water).
Definitely will come back! read more
