If you are looking for a great printing shop with good people to deal with and someone that takes…read moretheir print quality seriously, make sure to give them a call. I used them to print some funeral memorial booklet for a relatives funeral. I bought and downloaded a design from Etsy and was going to try and print them at home, but was running behind trying to take care of other funeral plans. I was able to send them the design late in the day (5:30p) and was hoping I could have them to bring to the funeral home the following afternoon. Wayne the owner had them ready around 8:30a the next day. They came out beautiful, and much better than the card stock I was going to use with my home. Printer. Even the funeral director mentioned how nice they looked and asked me who printed them. I just met Wayne for the first time picking up my order so I hope he does not mind me sharing this. If you like to support local businesses that do great work and also support hard working people trying to make a living, consider checking them out. Wayne has been continuing to work through treatments and surgery for throat cancer. He is doing well, but any business you can send his way, would be supporting a small family business with a great heart. The printing quality will also be of the highest quality. I was so glad I found them. Supporting great local people who have their own business is one way to have a great community.

Everything I've seen come out of his shop has been great quality, and I'm big on "buy local." So much better to be able to meet face to face with the people putting together your product than ordering a mystery online and crossing your fingers it comes out okay!

Forest Lawn Funeral Home - JP Richardson, the Big Bopper, Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, Beaumont

Hollywood Cemetery in Beaumont is a peaceful place, but it takes a little patience to navigate…read morebecause the lots and sections aren't marked very much at all, so we wandered for a bit before the landscape finally opened up in that quiet southwest corner where we found what we were seeking, the final resting place of JP Richardson, the Big Bopper, a simple stone carrying the weight of a sad story and a life cut short too soon, and standing there you feel both the stillness of the grounds and the echo of a moment in American music that ended far too early. After that, you must stop and pay your respects at the grave of Mildred "Babe" Didrikson Zaharias. With more championships than I can list here, I'll just go with these two: - In 2008, ESPN ranked her the 10th Greatest North American Athlete of the century, the highest-ranked woman on their list. - She won two gold medals and one silver in track and field at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics, setting four world records and becoming the only athlete in history (male or female) to win individual Olympic medals in running, throwing, and jumping events. Keep in mind that this is an active cemetery so please be respectful of those who may be mourning a loss. [Review 346 of 2026 - 672 in Texas - 25533 overall]

Since then we have lain to rest her husband, Eugene Stratton Paxton, my grandfather, as well as great grandparents, step grandparents and an uncle. In 2018, we laid my stepfather to rest, but we used Broussard's for mortuary services. My mom handled these arrangements with my assistance. She was very impressed with the way Forest Lawn helped her through the selection and purchase of a double plot. She chose to pre-pay for her final arrangements and got a nice discount. Mom finally passed this past September and it was left to me to get it all set up and organized. I could not have done that without the exceptional assistance and guidance I received from Laci McClendon, one of the funeral directors. I would like to highly recommend her to anyone that reads this review. She was only a text message away, even on weekends and late nights. Everyone should be so lucky to have her at their side when going through the emotional distress that often accompanies the loss of loved ones.

    High Cross Monument

    High Cross Monument

After the passing of my sister, horrific grief, funeral service and continued pain and disbelief,…read morewe finally brought ourselves to move forward with the creation of a headstone. Money was no concern. We only wanted the best and something we could spend time at and showed our love for my sister and gave a glimpse into the type of person she was. I researched and found High Cross. My initial call was over 30 minutes long which involved the owner praising himself with all the work he had done around the world and the "awards" he had on his wall. I over looked this and made an appointment. With much hesitation (due to the circumstances and painful task), my younger sister, mother and I made it to the appointment. The owner began his speech about how highly acclaimed he was and showed us his awards in his office. We begin to discuss the options for monuments. He had an assistant, Derrick in the office with him who honestly carried the entire meeting. Derrick showed compassion and was very knowledgeable about the company and the work. It's unfortunate that Derrick doesn't handle all the business dealings. The owner was very confused on how to use the computer system and he wasn't clear on costs or options that were available to them. We decided on a bench and was shown (by the assistant) the stone examples. We told the owner what we would like in detail and he told us to give him two weeks to create a mock up and get prices on the stone. Three weeks go by and my sister places a call to the owner. She hung up shaken and in tears. The owner had no idea who she was couldn't recall the meeting. After she explains more, he remembers and tells her that he had paid up customers that take precedence, and that we did not have to use his services. We were never told money was needed up front to be considered a "paying customer". We were told a 25% downpayment would be paid once the mock up was done and edits made. He was extremely unsympathetic and quite vile. He tells her they do not do mock ups. ??? Strangely enough, he calls me the very next day acting like nothing had happened. He tells me that he has something drawn up and would like me to come in. I was dumbfounded and reminded him of the conversation he had with my sister. He told me she misunderstood and that he never told her to "use someone else". I told him there was no way we would use his services after the hurt he caused my sister. He then gives me the same attitude, then switches up and tries to reel me back in with his awards. I made it clear that he has taken one of the most horrible experiences in someone's life and led us to believe that this process had begun and we would have something beautiful made for us. Now here we sit searching for a company and reliving the experience of picking out something again. Please do not use this company. Please do not put yourself through this pain. No matter what the owner's response is to this review, just know my words are being typed as I cry and am truly hurt.
