Stopped in for a small home repair project. Larry asked how he could help us, right away, and showed us to the correct aisle. For the questions he couldn't answer he went to get a pro for that department. Ty was The Guy for plumbing and prepared us with all the parts needed. I worked in the garden from the beginning of May and everything was smooth sailing until Caelen Proctor brought over the management from Ponte Vedra. The new management are complete bullies who speak down to workers and disregard our concerns but have immediate excuses for their own bad behavior. We are barely warm bodies to them. They completely cut my hours weeks ago with no warning and then fired me yesterday for absolutely no reason at all. Horrible company to work for. Do not give them your business or money. 0/10 read more

As a former employee, this place is as toxic of a work environment as it gets. 3 months ago I turned in a report stating the details of the problems in the workplace and I haven't received a single response back. They are trying to silence me by waiting me out until I just give up. The management mistreats staff publicly on the employee radios for all to hear. I've tried to reach corporate but it just leads me back to this locations HR and they clearly aren't doing anything about it. If I were you I wouldn't support businesses who treat other human beings like they don't matter because their name tag doesn't say manager on it. I also would definitely not recommend working here. I went into the store this past Saturday for cactus soil. I searched the entire store, i asked one associate where i might find it...he simply pointed to an area and i told him i looked there it is all Christmas stuff now...his reply was well we must be out of it. I thought that was rude for not even walking over to see if it might be somewhere else! So i continued to look bc they clearly were selling cactus and succulents. I thought let me ask one more person. I asked this girl, Elyse or maybe Alyse. She was beyond refreshing and helpful! She looked in a couple spots and said let me run in the back and see if there was any back there. Here she came back w 2 options for me! I was impressed to say the least! Then she helped me with fertilizer options as i am trying to properate a new trimming. She definitely needs to be acknowledged for her professionalism and going the extra mile for me. Come to Ace Hardware To get some plumbing supplies for an issue with a pipe however we got sidetracked by all of the amazing plants they had! I cannot stress how amazing this plant section is there a plant I've never seen before in any other store in Jacksonville and there are aqua plants throughout the store. All the plants are super well taken care of and laid out and a really easy to find way however somethings do seem to be a little bit higher in price than I'm used to. After about an hour and a half spent in the plant section we finally got what we needed to fix the plumbing issue again everything was very easy to find and we even asked for help to make sure we were doing it right and the staff was very friendly and nice. Hopefully I don't have to come back for any more plumbing issues but I will definitely be back to browse the plants! read more

This joke of hardware store has turned into a circle replete with overpriced flea market crap crowding the register area, isles so packed with dime store junk you cannot make your way through. Wonder where NB fire Dept is? Morgan and Morgan - are you listening? Went to find some various fertilizers. Some inside, some outside clerks don't know where some of it was hidden, Inventory system not working. After I paid for a product and went to search it out, the employees admitted they were out. Finally, just asked for total refund. I wasted 20 at this circus. Went to Lowes - got 3 times the product I had chosen at this circus store, paid only $20 more (70 vs 50). Save yourself the time and agrégation - drive another 6 - 10 minutes and go to Lowes or Home Depot. Should you be stupid enough to buy the super high margin chairs or BBQs - you show what a sucker you are. BTW - they will change suppliers and leave you high and dry - did it to me a while ago. read more

I am leaving a 4 star review as a thank you to Eric S, the business manager, for reaching out and apologizing for loss prevention following too closely. I work at a large organic grocery store here at the beach and theft is occasionally a problem. I do understand and I hate how it affects us all. Please tell the 2 different guys I have seen there numerous times that as a young woman it is very uncomfortable to see the same man a couple rows away every time I look up but cannot make eye contact with me and has no merchandise. If I didn't know the men were loss prevention then I would think I was being followed by a predator. I love this ace and for a while I was coming here like 4 days in a row. They have the best section of herbs ( I mainly come here for gardening) and all kinds of nice pots and plants selection in general. The succulents and c his section is the best in the area top of other hardware stores. The employees are really nice and helpful as well! Sad experience in Ace today. Only rating a 3 due to the knowledgeable, professional lady helping us. Apparently most haven't been trained how to do their job or even assist their female colleagues when struggling with heavy plants. My husband helped. Got to the front of the line. A young man with longer dark brown hair served us. He asked us for the price of the plant. I said we didn't know. He said lift it up and turn it around. He stood there, watching us struggle while trying to contain our toddler. There was no price. My husband went back outside to search for it as he apparently didn't know how to find the price of a plant the store was selling. I asked him if there was a way they could check the price. After 5 minutes of my husband not returning he requested a price check from another employee. It is not the customers fault or responsibility something isn't priced. Maybe I've misunderstood Ace's selling point, decent customer service for a higher price. Today it was high price and we did their jobs for them. read more

A man named Terry, helped me find a live Christmas tree this morning and the perfect stand. It was the last stand of its kind and he called the manager to get me a discount. Then he carried all this stuff to check out, and loaded tree and stand in my car after figuring out how to get the back seats down. I'm 76 and I can't begin to tell you what a great experience this was. I have always had a good experience at Proctor Ace in Neptune Beach, never had a plant die or not had help; but Terry was exceptional. read more

I have always been a fan of proctor Ace hardware but today sealed the deal for me. Our family tradition was going to North Carolina mountains the day after thanksgiving, cutting our tree down, strapping it on our car and bringing it home to Florida. Our tradition changed this year and we were in need of getting a Christmas tree locally. I first went to a local beach Christmas tree lot and immediately left when I saw the prices on the Christmas tree had been marked up twice. On the plastic tag in big black marker was a price of $140 for a 5 ft tree. I decided Costco would be my next best choice. On my way I decided to just stop by Ace to see what they had. I mean who wants to leave the beach anyway? I was greeted by several Ace workers asking what could they help me with. I asked if they would help me tie a Christmas tree on my truck. This is when I met Justin. He said yes ma'am you find a tree you like and I'll help you get it home. He also opened a few trees in my size range that were not up and on display just to see if I liked them better than the ones out. Justin made sure I was very well taken care of and that I was his most important customer at that moment. Never did I feel rushed or like I was burdening him in any way. I am thankful to have Proctor Ace Hardware at the beach. Once again I was saved from the dreaded Jacksonville traffic by shopping local. Thank you Proctor Ace Hardware and Justin!! Your kindness matters. Oh and did I mention my beautiful 5 ft Christmas tree cost me $40. read more

It is so GREAT in so many ways....if I only need a few nails, screws.. or even just one- they have it- no need to buy packages you'll never use again. They had the exact rare size of fireplace grate I needed at a good price. Terrific help with making keys, fixing lamps.. they will make you an entire new screen for your window.... and when you measure wrong (and have to go back :( ) they fix it with a smile and in a timely manner. Fantastic customer service from people that really seem to care. When I checked out today, the cashier remembered my last name for my rewards card without even asking and I'm not in that often. i'm sorry mike o and lisa m have had bad experiences there but my experiences, since 1976 in several locations, have been nearly always positive. perhaps lisa or mike was returning items without receipts which can be trickier than with them. the owners and managers are not shady in anything i have ever seen and i know well some people who work there so have inside info. time and again the knowledgeable employees, managers and owner have taken large amounts of time to explain repair procedures and get parts, tools and supplies for me. unlike lowe's or home depot, when i request help in a department i actually get it. the big stores sometimes beat proctor ace on price or availability but just as often do not. for the products they sell, and more importantly for how to use those products, proctor ace is the standard for others to be measured by, imo. read more
