Paul is an honest straight shooter. He easily could have done some work on my 2006 Toyota but he found out it was just a battery issue. I highly recommend Pro-Tek. It's hard to find good mechanics let alone honest ones. read more

Great service, good communication, clear expectations! Will be our auto shop when in Palm Desert.

My Air Conditioning on my 1997 GMC pickup would not work on a hot Friday afternoon. I called four other repair shop and none of them could help me today, all said next week. Pro Tek said they could help me if I got there within 30 mins. I got there in 15 mins. They analyzed the reason it was not working, pumped in the freon. Found a crack in a hose washer and identified the sensor was malfunctioning, got parts and me out of there within 2 hours. Gave me a great price considering the high cost of freon and their team all pitched in to make my service was top notch. I would go back again and this is a recommendation for you to do the same. read more

They took excellent care of the car and even went above and beyond to do a few other task the car needed as far as cleanup and polishing my headlights with a top cleaner. Brian the mechanic did an overall outstanding service. read more

Called around for my mom because she needed an oil change for her car. First place I called quoted me almost $150. Second place quoted me about $100, but no availability until next week. Called Pro-Tek and they quoted me $62 dollars for both the oil and labor, and my mom got her oil change done within an hour of me calling. Pro-Tek gets my highest recommendation! Thank you so much. We'll definitely be back! read more

Paulino and his staff are down-to-earth, accomodating, responsive and just a joy to work with. I had a problem with my 23-year-old Mercedes Benz and while there were a few hurdles to overcome, we found a solution that fit the bill. No jerking a customer around, no saying one thing one day and then renegging, and I felt as though I was dealing with people who know what they are doing and don't try to con you. I would NEVER AGAIN, think of seeking out a fix for my car with anyone but Paulino at Pro-Tek Automotive. HONEST MECHANICS AT LAST!!! read more

Paulino responded fast on Yelp and manage to help me right away when I got to the shop. I thought it will take awhile to install my exhaust but actually took less than 1 hour . Thank you read more

Took my Mercedes GLE 350 in for it's 60k service. These guys were AWESOME! They only took one and a half days (the extra day was because of parts so not their fault) and much better pricing than the dealer (for same OEM parts). Would highly recommend for any of your mechanic needs. read more

Pro-Tek absolutely saved us! Our air conditioning on our Nissan Pathfinder went out about 30 miles before we arrived at our hotel in Palm Desert - in 120 degree heat, no less! I found Pro-Tek on Yelp and gave them a call the minute we got into town. Paulino was able to take my car in the same day, do the diagnostics and gave me several options. He was able to order the parts, repair the AC and have the car ready when we needed it. Paulino also worked on the weekend and gave us an extremely fair price. He was in constant communication and texted me with the progress and timeline. Pro-Tek itself is a new business - just opened in 2020 during the pandemic. But, their mechanics have been in the business for years and it definitely shows. We are forever grateful to Paulino and his crew - they truly delivered! read more

My mom challenger needed a tune up and I came to the right place very affordable and fast service. The worker went out of his way and charge my mom car battery also because it was low. I give them a 5 star very friendly highly recommend. read more

Called ahead to confirm my appointment and was told there shop was ready. Showed up, waited for a couple hours, and was told no one was going to show up. If you need to cancel that is one thing. But telling me to drive in because everything is ready when it isn't is a lie. It isn't a mistake or a someone couldn't make it in on time, it is a lie. read more

Arrived back in the valley to find one of our cars with a totally dead battery; I jump started it and drove it -- but it wouldn't hold a charge and had to be jumped every time I turned it off (and was exhibiting strange electrical behavior while I drove). Luckily, we found Pro-Tek through this Yelp listing, and gave them a call. Pro-Tek is a small, one-bay shop in an industrial park in Palm Desert, tucked in behind a big window tinting shop. It's run by a savvy young man, Paulino, who is pleasant and a clear communicator. He 'trouble-shot' our issue -- it really was just the battery, but he tested the entire electrical system, and cleaned/tightened a bunch of connections. He charged us for the replacement battery (and gave good advice there, too) and an hour of their time total -- a huge relief. Glad we found Pro-Tek, and we will be using them for all our repair needs in the future. read more

Brought my car over to pro-tek automotive today to take care of a coolant leak. While visiting my mother in Palm Desert the master warning light came on in her 2007 Toyota Prius. In addition, her air conditioning in the car failed to blow cold air. After reading many negative reviews on Yelp of the Toyota Dealer there I elected to look around for a local automotive repair shop. After reviewing shops on Yelp, I called around and Paul the owner of Pro-Tek Automotive answered the phone. I explained the issue and he recommended bringing the car in for a diagnostic check to see what the problem was. I dropped the car off at 9:30 AM and picked it up at about 4:30 PM the same day. Seems the problem was since the car is a hybrid the converter pump alternating between gas and electric went out and needed to be replaced. Fortunately, there were no leaks in the air conditioning system, and was recharged with freon. The bill was fair, repairs were efficient and effective, and Paul is an ASE-certified mechanic with several years of experience, which sold me on his abilities. If you are ever in Palm Desert and need a reliable qualified mechanic, call Paul at Pro-Tek Automotive. read more

apparently when your told to to drop the car before the end of the day to be worked on the next day before 5, i guess 4:15 was nor allowed within 8-5 smh read more

My car was over heating and I called on a Friday. They said I could bring it in that day. They figured out what was wrong, told me they could have the part in and have it ready for me that day. When I picked it up they showed me the broken part. Haven't had any trouble since. When I picked up my car I left my other car that needed a new water pump and brakes. It took them a little longer because they wanted to make sure everything was done right. Everything came out great and for a fair price. Definitely going back when I need a fix. read more

On our way through town and AC was just blowing hot air. Pro-tek was able to get us in ASAP and worked quickly to fix our AC (Needed a freon flush and refill). We were able to wait in their clean, air conditioned office and were back on the road in 1.5 hours, with a cold AC! read more

I seldom write negative views, most new businesses are picked based on Yelp and/or other ratings. On 12/5/21 contacted Pro-Tek Automotive re: loose bumper hitch that I wanted looked at and tightened up. An appointment was set for 12/8 at 3:00. Arrived at 2:45 and was told no one was available to complete repair. Received follow up apology and set second appointment for 12/10 at 1:00. Young man jacked rear of car but could not make necessary adjustments w/o car on hoist. Another vehicle occupied the hoist. No repair today. Left name and phone number and third appointment was scheduled for Saturday, 10 AM. While driving to Saturday's appointment received phone call while in transit saying owner would be there a little late. Arrived at 9:45 and waited until 10:35 before giving up and leaving. Received a call about 10:45 saying owner just arrived at shop. Told him no thanks, three times was enough. While waiting, another customer drove up, stating she also had a 10 AM appointment.
