All within 2 1/2 hours on a Saturday. Outstanding service from the moment I called for help right through to an employee finishing the job after hours. Service took less than an hour while I waited comfortably in the cleanest, freshest smelling automotive repair shop waiting room. Couldn't choose no stars or I would have…read more I was having brake issues, so I posted on a neighborhood page in FB to see if anyone could recommend a local garage that was reasonable (the dealer wanted $1000). I got several recommendations, but I also got a message from a guy who seemed sympathetic and said that $1000 was way too much. He told me he had a garage and could do the work right away. That should have been a sign. I talked to him on the phone, and we talked details of the job. Bottom line was that it would be between $200 and $300 if I didn't need rotors. I wasn't feeling any vibration, it was just rubbing, so I figured I wouldn't need rotors. He was reasonable on the prices he quoted for pads, so I figured he'd be reasonable if I needed rotors too. When his mechanic looked at the brakes, he said I only needed 2 rotors. Good news. I figured it would be another $150 for the rotors. When the job was finished, I was presented with a bill for almost $700. The owner wasn't there, so I had to pay to leave. I contacted him to let him know that I wasn't happy. He said that I must have misunderstood the prices he quoted. I pointed out that if he had replaced all the rotors (like the dealer was going to do) and used OEM parts (like the dealer was going to do) his bill would have been over $1000, which he had originally agreed was way too much. Meanwhile, I had to have new tires installed and the tire company had to replace all of the lug nuts on my car (at a cost of $200) because the mechanic who did the brakes had not put the lug nuts back on properly. You need to use a torque wrench, which the owner said was used. (I was sitting outside the garage while the work was being done and the mechanic was using a regular impact gun.) He also said that the lug nut problem was caused by the tire company not knowing how to remove them properly. After a couple of conversations with the owner, it was obvious he wasn't going to accept any responsibility for any of the issues he and his mechanic caused. He offered me a free oil change. No way will I trust this garage to do any work on my car!

I got in contact with a service that had a flatbed truck. After seeing the photos, they said they were afraid that just pulling it out could damage the underside of the car and I needed someone with a wrecker. Did you ever have that awful feeling that you were really stuck somewhere, didn't know where to turn, it was a weekend and you'd probably be stranded until Monday? After some phone calls, tho, a very friendly lady said they could help me and to send photos. She called back shortly saying the truck they needed was on another job but they would be there later that night. And they were. Chris and Jennifer worked in the chilly dark, in the water, with the truck lights on the scene, setting up multiple attachment points, pulling out a bit, resetting the attachment points, and repeat. It took close to an hour and they got the car out with no damage. If you ever need emergency help in central-northern Columbia County, they're the go-to people.

Robert, the outstanding mechanic who has worked there for twenty years, apologized for the delay. I was offered and accepted a ride to my nearby home to wait. Two and a half hours later, the work was completed. I was given a ride back to the garage. I call this excellent customer service. And that is one reason why we support an independent service provider rather than a dealer. Plus, the cost is considerably less than for work at a dealership. At Hari's, communication with customer, attention to customer needs, and expertise in servicing cars are all superior to most dealerships. I believe I am getting a fair and accurate appraisal of work that needs to be done. Whereas, at the dealership, I feel the bill is padded with extra work that is unnecessary. Plus, I am supporting an independently owned local business that resides in my community. A "WIN" all around.

I dropped my car off on a Friday stating that the cabin of the car was filling with exhaust. They…read moresaid that the exhaust smell was coming from a leaking oil seal which required the transmission to be removed to fix. 2 weeks later, I picked my car up on a Friday at closing and paid $3,300. Within 2 minutes driving down the road, my cabin was again filled with the same exhaust smell and the car now also had a slight vibration that wasn't there before. I dropped the car back off that night after closing. When I called Saturday morning, I was told that they did not have time to look at it that day. On Monday, I stopped on the way home from work. The owner was in the process of looking under the hood of my car. When I approached and started to discuss the issue with my car he became very aggressive in his demeanor and tone of voice. Never once did I ask for a refund on the work that was done (that didn't fix the problem I brought the car in for) nor did I accuse them making up a problem that didn't exist. I simply wanted the issue I brought the car in for to be done promptly since I was now on week 3 without a car. The owner made me feel very uncomfortable to the point I started to cry so I excused myself and left. The owner followed up a half hour later via phone call, speaking very nicely to me, sharing the great news that the parts needed to fix the original problem would run me around $50 and they had discovered the vibration was due to a loose bolt that was now tightened and fixed. We picked the car up Friday and I was informed they charged me 1/2 the labor bringing this new additional bill to $270 for a total of $3,570. Paying so much when the original issue was under $500 definitely isn't ideal. However, that is not the reason for my low review. For me, I feel they should have checked that the original problem was fixed before giving it back to me the first time. The biggest issue was how I was treated by the owner. I would not want anyone else to have to experience that I had. The other two workers were very polite and respectful.
