I can't say enough good things about ProTech Garage door and the owner, Sam Pastella. After experiencing frustration (upsell, scare tactic) with another company; I was referred to ProTech by a very happy, long term customer. Sam came out immediately and assessed a potential spring failure. He is very knowledgable; thorough in his inspection; and gave me information that allowed me to make an educated; no pressure; informed decision. I decided to order new springs and Sam, gave me a VERY fair price. His estimate is detailed, and includes all of your fees. No surprises after the fact. He kept me updated the whole process, even was able to get the springs sooner than expected and fit me in to his already busy schedule; to get the job taken care of. He was meticulous in his work, (showed me at completion; all the new parts he installed) and finished with a full service of my door ( includes tightening all screws; lubricating all moving parts, etc. ) He made sure everything was cleaned up after and hauled away the old springs. He even wiped down my wall, where he thought he "might " have scuffed it. *** I can't be more pleased with ProTech Garage Door and SAM! He is a very honest, ethical, and kind person who I HIGHLY recommend for all of your garage door service needs. I am so happy I found him; you will be too. *Note, ProTech Garage Door ( is a small business; owned by Sam Pastella) located in Oceanside, CA 619-699-9175. Ask for Sam...he will take care of you! Unfortunately, my garage door wouldn't open to access a car stuck in the garage. Sam quickly got back to me, and came out the next day and found the spring had broken. He had everything repaired and the door functioning in just an hour or less. That's great service and a very quick reaction to my emergency. The price was reasonable and it's not anything to worry about again. Many thanks to Sam at Pro Tech Garage Door Service. I highly recommend Sam's garage door business for all your door needs. read more

Sam saved me when I did a very bone headed thing and left my back hatch open on my car and put my door down. It got caught trying to go back up and my car was trapped inside the garage with no other entrance available. I was scared because I needed to leave my vacation home the next day. He accommodated me and saved the day with a smile on his face. Truly a helpful and friendly company which I highly recommend. read more

After the recent power surge, I was having issues with our garage door functions. I called Pro Tech and was told they would have a tech at my house in a couple of hours. Daniel texted me when he was enroute. He arrived and assessed the issue. He gave me a written price that we agreed on. Daniel was able to install the new system, program our cars and clean everything up in a timely manner. Daniel answered all my questions and was a pleasure to talk with. I highly recommend Pro Tech and Daniel Lockwood-Reif. read more

I had a sudden and frustrating garage door issue at my apartment - the spring snapped, cables came loose, and the door wouldn't respond to the motor at all. Since my motorcycle is stored inside and it's my main transportation, I needed the problem fixed quickly. I submitted a work ticket to my property management, and they promptly called Sam Pastella at Pro Tech Garage Door Service (Vista Garage Door Sales). Sam and his partner Mario responded right away and handled the repair efficiently. They replaced the entire spring mechanism, reattached and properly adjusted the cables, and had everything working smoothly in no time. The job was done swiftly, cleanly, and without any hiccups. What impressed me most was how they went the extra mile - after resolving the main issue, they lubricated the entire chain, pulleys, and other components to help prevent future problems. That thoughtful attention to detail really stood out and showed their commitment to quality work. Sam is professional, reliable, and truly customer-focused, and his team delivers the same high level of service. My property management was very pleased with how quickly and effectively this was resolved, and so was I. If you're in the San Diego or North County area and need garage door repair, maintenance, or service, I highly recommend reaching out to Sam Pastella at Pro Tech Garage Door Service. You won't be disappointed! 5/5 stars - outstanding service and workmanship. read more

All I can say is Protech is amazing! Incredible customer service and explains things so well. They're really the best service I've every gotten from any company. Thank you Sam and Protech! read more

Sam is the best. Our garage door started randomly going up and down and we noticed that Pro Tech, who had installed our door, was up the street with one of our neighbors. We briefly flagged him down to ask if he thought their frequencies were clashing with ours and causing the garage to open and close without the remote. He immediately offered to come to our house and take a look - reset everything, and even went the extra mile to help us set up our garage remotes, which was so appreciated. Good customer service and good people are hard to find, but Pro Tech has them! read more

We continue to be so pleased with Sam and the Pro Tech team. After using them a few years ago for a minor repair to our garage door, I had such a good experience with them that I wanted to try them again. Sam did not disappoint! I got added to his schedule quickly, and in under an hour he was onsite and able to diagnose my problem in less than a minute (broken belt). Sam gave me my options and in under 30 minutes the door was fixed and it working like a champ! I trust Sam, and didn't feel like he was looking for ways to upsell me in the least. He's friendly, punctual and I can't recommend him enough. There are a lot of companies out there that may not have your best interest in mind when it comes to doing repair work, but I feel like Sam is honest and straightforward. He'll spell out your options with no pressure whatsoever. And he provides free estimates too......you gotta try them out the next time you have a garage door need. Thanks Sam!! read more

Sam has been my garage door guy for over 3 years, always coming for tune-ups, and has made many suggestions, to replace my motor and springs. Although he has kept it running the past 3 years to buy me some time, it finally died. He was out the same day as I called him and replaced what was needed for a fair price. Sam is always professional, and what I admire about him the most is the way he talks to his assistant and other customers by phone. He would be my first call and recommendation for any garage door needs and you will be in good hands if you hire him. 5 stars all around! read more

We have used Sam since 2019 and he has done tremendous work for us. First in 2019 he replaced a our spring with a heavier duty one and did some small servicing. Fast forward to the beginning of this year, we were having trouble with the garage door sticking when it began to move up and we had Sam come out and diagnose and fix the problem. Today, Sam and his helper came and installed a new belt driven lift master garage door motor, lubricated everything and put some new rollers in. Sam did a tremendous job installing everything in a reasonable amount of time. We are so happy with our new liftmaster garage door opener. Sam is full of so much knowledge and not only a trustworthy and friendly person, but also does honest work. I would highly recommend Sam for your garage door needs! Thanks Sam!!!! We look forward to having you service our garage door again. read more

Pro Tech Garage Door Service - New rollers installed and problem solved! - Garage Door Services Near Me - Oceanside, California

I had an absolutely stellar experience reaching out to Sam about my garage door not fully closing. After sending some pictures and making a quick phone call, he said that it was a simple fix and that he could make it out the very same day! He stopped by later that afternoon and not only replaced the missing bottom gasket and metal bracket, but as a courtesy included in the labor fee he also fixed up a bunch of other things I wasn't even aware needed improving. So now in addition to touching the ground, there's no more light leakage at the top and it slides smoother and more quietly than I thought was possible. Throughout the whole process he was very friendly and professional and explained everything he was going to do (and the associated costs) very thoroughly. I would reach out to Sam again for anything garage door related in a heartbeat! read more

This is my 3rd review of Sam and Pro Tech. A few months after I had new springs and brackets installed , the bolts in the wood framing the door that held the brackets, popped out. It wasn't Sam's work that was inferior . It was the wood he was driving the bolts into that was. I knew the wood had cracked from before but we both thought it was a surface crack and not going to affect securing the bolt down. Well, the wood had either dry wrought or termite damage because there wasn't enough good solid wood on the sides to drive a bolt in and have it bite down. When my daughter said the door is cockeyed and won't open , Sam came out quickly and said we have 2 choices . 1- replace that wood by using Primo his wood contractor and Sam will then come back and reinstall the brackets to the new wood or 2- we skip all that and just order a standard metal door and reframe the door opening reducing the oversized opening it has now . I opted to replace the wood on the sides and keep my old wood door . Primo was an excellent contractor and reasonable and quick . I was very happy with the new wood and Sam came out the next day to reinstall the brackets and wouldn't let me repay him. He's honest , ethical , stands by his work , makes every job perfect or he'll make it right . It doesn't get any better than that . And I'll never ever refer anyone but Sam and Pro Tech . You don't find good contractors with great customer service very often but I'm pleased to say Sam is as good as it gets . Thank you Sam for your quality work and being so honest and helpful. You're a great neighborhood asset to the community . read more

UPDATED: Pro Tech is my go to garage door company. They are so easy to get a hold of and they usually come within a day or two. Sam and Tim have come to my previous condo as well as my new house to service my garage doors. They always leave things better than they found it. I had replaced a lock and key mechanism and didn't have the tools to squeeze the S hook into place and they fixed my crazy zip tie work. They also just recently installed a new garage door lifter that is so quiet, I've had computers run louder than my garage! I've been so excited each time I've used my garage which seems pretty lame. Since I have a brand new lifter, I hope to not need to call for garage repair too often but if I do they will be my first call. They're an honest group and I have really appreciated the the services. Pro Tech also just replaced my parent's garage door in Penasquitos. My mom is very praticular, and she had a hard time making this big decision to get rid of her original garage door. She was absolute thrilled with not only the garage door but the service Pro Tech provided. The garage is absolute gorgeous and makes the house look so much more modern. I was personally impressed at them getting the quote and the actual work done in less than a week! I recommend them to everyone, and they continue to provide exceptional service and performance. read more

We had a great experience with Tim at Pro Tech. His communication was timely, reliable and clear. We made an appointment for an estimate and he confirmed and showed up on time. He listened to my needs and provided two different estimates based on those needs and wants. We made an appointment for the install of our garage door opener. The day of the install he checked to see if he could arrive about 25 minutes early (I've had contractors in the past that just showed up early with no warning and that's a pretty significant inconvenience and puts a lot of pressure to let them get started even though you're not prepared for it). When Tim arrived he was friendly, thorough and professional. He did a good job and explained the workings of the system. He then cleaned up the job site before he left. That evening, we noticed that there was a 'beep' coming from the opener. I contacted Tim the next morning and he came right over to see what was happening. It turns out that the power source he tapped into is only on when the garage light is on, which isn't ideal. He offered a temporary solution and recommended that I get an electrician to convert that outlet to full power. I was very happy with Pro Tech sales AND service and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone. read more

Sam was friendly, punctual, knowledgeable and efficient. Very fair pricing, they will be our go to garage door service from now on!

Timely and professional service. Fixed some garage door hardware and replaced a 20+yr old spring to save me some potential hassles in the near future. 2nd time Ive had these guys repair garage components and same great experience this time. read more

First the good news: Sam is very well priced and affable. Bad news: After he left I see he used 4 staples put his business card up on a finished wall next to opener button/entrance in a finished garage. I messaged him that wasn't cool and he said in 20 years doing all kinds of homes no one ever minded that before. Total Bull S. So then 10 days later the idler wheel breaks. He won't answer the phone or return text. I got another company out and that said the door weight is way to high as spring wasn't balanced. The we noticed there was no oil the springs which is required. Good pricing, too bad the rest sucked. read more

Sam at Pro Tech was great to work with. He looked at my 2 broken garage doors and figured out exactly was needed to fix both (and gave me options). Came back with all needed parts in a couple days and did great work fixing both doors. Same openers yet both garage doors are MUCH quieter and smoother opening and closing after Sam's work. Highly recommend them. Wish I got the RED spring for my door! read more

Very knowledgeable. Very efficient. Prices are reasonable. No nonsense. There are my go to from now on

From the moment I called to when the repair was made had exceeded expectations. Tim scheduled the appointment and gave an over the phone estimate and name of person that would be doing the repairs. Sam called prior and came earlier than the time slot. Came to the door wearing a mask and was very polite about it being our choice/comfort of whether for us to wear one as well. And agreed that safety was of high priority. Once again went over pricing and what would be done. Stated that to replace a cable and spring would take about :45. Said that he'd look at all three garage doors and provide an assessment and any recommendations as well as oil them up. I responded with a known concern on one, makes a lot of noise because the casing rubs up against the beam structure. He said that he'd help with the noise at no extra cost. Let him be for about :35 and saw that it looked like he was finishing up. When I came out he said he was done, showed me what he had completed, and drastically reduced the noise of the third garage. I asked if he had any recommendations or tips for maintenance, and he said they all looked good but once the rollers need changing, to change all three doors at the same time to save money. I highly recommend this business for their professionalism and customer service. read more

Sam was great to work with. A few of the reasons I will use Pro Tech for any of my future garage door needs: 1. He showed up on time. 2. His quote was better than the competition. 3. His estimate for how long the job would take was accurate. 4. He explained everything that he was doing. 5. He was very respectful of COVID precautions. 6. He answered all of my questions in a way that someone who takes pride in their work would answer questions. I wish all contractors were this reliable and straight forward. Thanks, Sam! read more

When our garage door broke I reached out to several vendors for quotes. Sam was very professional, is very knowledgeable, is reliable and does things to make a customer feel valued. He worked with us to find a time that was convenient, was very responsive to questions, and had the door and new opener installed within about 3 hours. He also left the space cleaner than when he arrived. We liked that he used upgraded parts that last longer. I highly recommend Pro Tech! read more

Tim and Sam were Fantastic! My old garage door was broken badly, and wasn't worth wasting good money on. I decided to get estimates via Yelp from many good companies. Tim showed up at my home promptly, wearing a mask, and in a clean and organized work truck, explained very clearly all of my options, even showed me examples of the hardware I could have installed, listened to what I wanted and gave me a very fair and competitive quote. After he left, I thought about it and decided that this was the right guy for my job, told him he had the job, and called back the other (probably very good companies), and let them know, thanks but please don't come because I've hired someone. Tim and Sam were able to fit me in the next day, a Friday, in the afternoon. They showed up on time, with their truck carefully loaded with my new garage door, both wearing masks, and got to work. Their gear setup to get the job done is extremely professional, efficient, and provided great protection for my new garage door. They had already worked 2 other jobs that day, but were efficient, and hard working as if they were fresh on the day. Both Sam and Tim answered the minimal curiosity questions I had, and also asked me my preferences. They disassembled and loaded onto their truck my old door ( I asked them to leave the old opener since it was still good, and thought I could sell it or give it away ), and then proceeded to assemble my new door's hardware, tracks, rollers, springs (by the way, because I selected them outright, Tim gave me the red hardware springs, and sealed bearing roller upgrade for free), and then carefully assembled to door, and hung the lift motor. They finished up on time, cleaned my new garage door of any grease or dirt that will inevitably happen during the assembly process, and then proceeded to show me how to use my new opener ( a belt-drive Liftmaster - soooo quiet and nice to hear! ). Before leaving, they double-checked clean-up of any nuts, bolts, etc, swept, and then asked me if I had any questions before leaving, and also re-assured me that they would answer anything that I might think of later. I could not be happier with their Excellent business style, work processes, straight forward way of conducting business, integrity, hard work, and final result! I am thrilled with my beautiful, new, quiet running garage door. It looks, sounds, and operates Great! read more

Sam and his son Tim were super prompt for first the estimate and then the install. They quoted us the best of all the many quotes we got from all over North County. Prices and friendliness can't be beat! The quality of the door and hardware is impeccable, we are beyond happy with them and their work! It's nice to give business to a family owned and ran company in San Diego especially during a pandemic! They were great about showing up in and wearing the whole time we were near each other their masks too! So I highly recommend Pro Tech Garage Door Services. If there were more stars to give I would!! Samuel and Tim both arrived on time to inspect and estimate repairs on my dad's house garage door. It required a new spring and needed new rollers (the garage door was installed over 10 years ago I think). From 0800 meet-and-greet to job completion at 0910, everything was working again, and allowed me to get my dad to his first of many medical appointments today. Extremely professional and knowledgeable; they competitively priced the job. They are permanently in my phone contacts list! If you need any kind of garage door service, these are the guys to call! Believe me, this is not my first time using a garage door install/service company (two other properties in the past)! You really should call them if you need this type of service! My door fell off the track with 3 rollers coming off one side and the cable got tangled on the other side. I called around And pro tech was able to come out within 30 mins for a free estimate. When they showed up they wore masks and kept a distance from me. They were able to determine that my door hit a 2x4 when closing and the 2x4 knocked the door off track. They were able to repair on the spot. They pointed out a few parts that I might want to replace but stressed that they didn't need to be replaced now and it was optional. Since they were already there I had them replace everything. I didn't shop around so I'm not sure where there pricing sits within the average price for the parts and labor but they were very professional, honest and I would give them a call again in the future for any repairs. Hopefully there won't be any more repairs. Payment was done contactless with me paying the invoice on my own cell phone. I recommend them. read more
