Paint peel off after retouching about 4th times within 10 months

This is updated from the work we had done back in June 2024. Sal have stop by 4 times to retouch the paint because according to him "Unfortunalty thats the only thing we can do at this point, we primer and painted all brown upstairs, but ill go no worries " . I called him for the 5th times to show how the paint is just peeling it off and i was given an appointment for the 5th times for retouch in May 2025. Will keep posting the updates

Oh man where do I even start! One of my facebook friends shared a post from sals personal page showcasing his work at that time my husband and I were looking to do something with our stairs and other work around the house that needed to be done, and I liked his work! I also trusted the person that shared sal's business! So back in mid January My husband gave sal a call and left him a voicemail, we were impressed he called us back literally 1 minute later (GREAT RESPONSE TIME). He came out that same week and gave us a reasonable quote! And said it was good for him too because he does a bunch of work for a winery here in Temecula (we didn't really give a s*** that just thought he was bragging) and that he's always here in Temecula doing jobs and would be flexible for him since he's here all the time (cue the eye roll, just wait for it) Anyways he says it would take about a week to do it all (paint entire stairs, touch up some cabinets and paint a desk top. We also told him we were going to get all new carpet so not too worry about the carpet (we were in the process of trying to put our house up on the market). Sal then added that again since he's here in Temecula ALL THE TIME he would be able to stop by whenever to touch up the stairs just in case the the carpet people scuffed it or scratched in during the process of installation. We weren't expecting that but he OFFERED so we really appreciated that gesture! sal and his crew started a week later and finished in the time frame they gave us. We were so happy to family fix our home. Fast forward a month and a half later my husband reached out to sal once we got our carpet installed. Sal was right and the carpet people did indeed scratch a bit but nothing too bad. We were like okay no biggie cause we relied on sal to re touch like he said he would. My husband sent him a text...a week later and nothing! So I told him he might be really busy with jobs so I was trying to be understand and patient so then I reach out to him and ask if he could kindly retouch the stairs like he said he would. I received a text from him right away I then I proceed to tell my husband "you see he was just busy with jobs" he said if it was okay to come on a Saturday. I said yes wherever is a good time for him would be a good time for us and regardless we would make it work on his schedule. He said he would text to confirm on Friday... Friday rolls around and nothing! I texted him Friday evening and he told me he would still be able to come the next day off Saturday. Saturday rolls around and again nothing! I wasted my whole Saturday (my day off) waiting on him and not even a text or call to say he was not going to make it, completely ignored my text! I now texted again today (Monday) and again not text back nothing! I'm completely done with this man! Obviously his word means shit to him and it's all about him not about how hard people work to save up money to do upgrades on their home. And peoples time also means jack s*** to him too! It does not feel good to be ignored and basically laughed at. I just know that karma is a b**** and eventually it'll come back to liars and thinking others are his fools. It also means nothing that his friends and family are sharing his business and he goes and does something like this? People that are basically vauching for you and your work. Wow sone people are unbelievable! I guess he likes short term CUSTOMERS and not long term CLIENTS! Whatever his Loss! We're currently in the process of getting another painter to do the touch ups that he said he would do! And seeing as we're going to sell this home and but a new one we will also need a painter to paint whatever home we get. On top of that my husband took time out of his schedule to share his small business on his personal fb page.... Which I told him to take down because I love our family and friends too much to make them deal with a man like that! People beware! Below I'll attach the texts.

Sal Ochoa owner of Pro Status Painting and his paint crew painted our bedroom and our hallways, stairwell and downstairs entry. The job was very professional and they practiced safe social distancing and CDC requirements by wearing their masks throughout the day. The outcome of their work was beautiful and exactly what we wanted. The pricing was within our budget and Pro Status Painting accommodated our work schedules. We would use them again and highly recommend this company. Thank you Pro Status Painting. Phil & Ellie

Sal was amazing. Great pride in his work and I tend to be difficult to please. He never questioned my requests for touch ups or changes just simply said he would take care of it. He documented the problems to show his guys and they fixed it. The house exterior had just barely started to need to be repainted and they did an excellent job in everything from masking thinks off to matching the paint color I was going for. They patched all stucco cracks prior to painting and did a good job, though it is obvious they are painters and not in stucco repair. They took a couple tries but got it right. I have patio cover that I recently built with a custom stained ceiling and one of his workers thought they were going to repainted it as well. I caught it before to much spray hit it and the were able to get it back to the original after the second try. When we did the walk through we marked everything and he took pictures to ensure things got fixed. It was a great experience and the price was less than others. We also had him stain our staircase posts and handrail and repaint the stair base trim and spindles. It looks far better than my wife I imagined especially since they told me upfront that is was not a stain grade maple handrail. Uriel and his helper were on time every day for the week long project. Their attention to detail was also amazing. They ensured that the bedrooms upstairs were sealed off each morning to prevent dust and lacquer fumes from filing them. For floor protection they put down multiple layers on most days. They even covered the walls in plastic to help keep dust build up down. As you can see from the pictures Pro Status lived up to their name and I highly recommend them.

I waited 30 minutes before calling to see if something had happened. He answered and said "Oh, what's your address, I can be there in 20 minutes." He arrived 30 minutes later and gave us the quote. He took his time and wrote out exactly what we needed. His quote was thorough and seemed reasonable. The reason for my 1-star rating is because when we were ready to schedule, we called and called and no one ever answered. My husband also tried and left messages that were never returned. I know they are a busy company, but it shouldn't be that hard to schedule once a quote has been provided. Perhaps Doug needs to hire a receptionist to help with phones. We ended up going with another company and I'm so glad we did. They did a wonderful job! They were also Yelp verified and backed by a $2,500 protection by Yelp. We chose a smaller company where we had direct access to the owner and communication was never a problem. The owner was also onsite every day of the job.

No overspray on patio furniture, windows, or pool. Items that were protected had plastic sheeting to avoid paint staining. Very detail-oriented work. Straight edges and transitions. Considering the high-quality work and good communication, the pricing is extremely attractive. You won't be disappointed! Quality of work: Excellent. I'm quite picky when it comes to detailed work, but Dan's team addressed all requests I had during the project. Neighborhood reaction: Everyone loves our newly painted house! We have inspired others to start doing exterior paintwork as well :-). When they ask for recommendations, I obviously recommend California Paintworks. There's often a moment of uncertainty until the meeting occurs and a quote is provided. Additionally, selecting the right colors can be challenging; wondering whether the chosen shade will match the sample or online representation can be frustrating. From our very first conversation, Joey put me at ease. He is genuinely kind and professional. He informed me that he would follow up within a few days with a quote, which he did, and it met my expectations. The cost was under what I had anticipated, so I responded, and he called to schedule a start date. The project was scheduled for a few weeks out, not months. My initial anxiety stemmed from this being my first time painting a house, and I was concerned about making the right choices, including the colors. Joey was very patient, answering all my questions thoroughly and offering guidance, regardless of the time I reached out to him. On the day they began power washing the house, everything went smoothly. Joey got my final decisions on colors (making one color change recommendation) and went to buy paint to start the next day. I am SO happy he changed the color of the trim because I would have hated the color I picked... Love the one he picked; it's perfect! They provided a clear plan for the upcoming work each day before leaving. The team included a very attentive young man who meticulously taped and prepped the house--everything was thoroughly covered. During the painting process, Joey regularly inspected the work and pointed out areas that needed touch-ups, which I might not have noticed myself. The attention to detail was impressive, especially when they used very fine brushes, I couldn't see it, but he did. Then the trim. Meticulous! At one point, they were using a paintbrush so fine that it seemed more suited for a canvas. I am extremely happy with the workmanship of Joey Lanza and his Team. I would recommend this company to anyone. Six Stars!! Thanks Again Guys!
