If you want good lip service with poor quality workmanship, cabinet doors that look orange peeled, chip within the first week and drywall patches that look like herpies this is the company for you. Dan was not present on the job except to collect payment. 1 of his guys speaks English the others are likely day laborers. We hired Dan because he guaranteed we would be happy, but we are far from happy. We have tried to work it out with him but he came over very aggressive yelling at me puffing his chest as if he was about to brawl whilst my 6 month old was sitting next to us watching. Claimed the imperfections are from me touching up the work. Why would I have to touch up professionals work??? Reporting him to the state and will be taking him to small claims. Unless our refund is issued. They damaged my lighting outside, damaged my door frame when over to attempt to fix their terrible patching. Damaged brand new recessed lights then attempted to hide it. Said he would not repaint the kitchen and does not want to give a refund. Outside patches in stucco were not done, lots of imperfections throughout the inside and outside of home. His pricing was amongst the LOWEST, yet the quality of their work did not reflect the low price.  They meticulously prepped the work site and cleaned up after each day. Scheduling was a bit of a challenge because of the rain but once the weather cleared up, he scheduled us in and stuck to the schedule. If regret and disappointment is what you are looking for, look no further! I was very excited to be getting the house nice and painted and Dan was personable and well spoken. Once the job began it felt like California Paintworks (CP) was not addressing our concerns. The guys started speeding through the work with no attention to detail. I dont have any experience as a painter and i was able to point out things that were not done simply to finish and move on. Once we got to the kitchen thats when things took a turn. The guys failed to adequately prep the kitchen since no sanding or priming was done and simply painted over with the white paint. Less than 1 month later the kitchen is peeling showing the old wood which was clearly no prepped. The kitchen cabinets have 3 different finishes (orange peel, smooth, and brush strokes that are visible and unprofessional. When this was pointed out to Dan, we the customers got labeled as "picky" and told by Dan he underbid our job and that differing variation to the finish " is normal." Sorry, but if I wanted my kitchen to look like sh** I woulve done it myself and not payed a "professional." Does this justify the cutting of corners?? Now looking at the cost to fix the kitchen properly will be more than if they job had been done as described. Would never recommend this company, not even to my worst enemy!! Beware of these 5 star reviews because thats how we chose this "company," which was a big mistake. read more

We needed to paint the exterior of our house. After getting several bids and talking to the different representatives of the companies, we chose California Paintworks. They painted the house exterior, BBQ, retaining walls, fire pit. Dan checked in at least twice daily to check the progress and explain to us what has been done and what would be done next. They did an expert job of protecting the sidewalks, patio, plants and other back yard items from paint and cleaned up everything when the job was done.
