She referred them explaining to me since it would be my first time having any kind of home improvements that it would be a great idea to hire a company to do it all. And that's exactly what ProStar did. They handled it all and they were always responding to all my questions and believe me, I had so many questions. I would say there were some delays, and that was due to materials not being available during the pandemic but they always informed me what was going on. BUYER BEWARE! Not sure where my original review went but I hired ProStar's to remodel my back yard. It was a horrible experience. They had unsupervised unskilled workers that did substandard work. I filed a complaint with the BBB and the CA STATE CONTRACTORS BOARD to get my $30k returned to me. Make sure your contract has LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE detail about every project down to the actual products to be used. These men are double talkers and try to say that they have standard operating procedures that cover the details. I can tell you that is 100% not true. The Contractors board investigated and there were legal consequences. read more

We hired Pro Star builders in June 2022 for a backyard reno, laundry install and bathroom reno. In the middle of renovating our bathroom, they also discovered they need to redo our electrical which tripled the cost of our project. The entire reno was complete in Oct 2022. Not even a year later, we are dealing with issues related to their work. Our shower drain is clogged. The plumber said it shouldn't be clogged this soon after a reno. In trying to unclog it, we learned that they grouted the drain cover into our shower floor so it can't be removed. Why would they do that?! The outlet under the sink that connects to our dishwasher has stopped working. We now have an extension cord plugging our dishwasher into an outlet in the dining room. In the backyard, our irrigation system is so cheaply assembled that the tubes break apart everytime we turn it on, spraying water all over our backyard. My husband just replaced it with a new irrigation system that costs only $43 and works 100x better. During the project, they changed project leads on us several times without a heads up. Someone would randomly show up at our front door without any warning to take photos (like early in the morning when I wasn't dressed yet or on days when I was sick, for example.) It took them a whole month to come by and patch a small hole in the drywall of our ADU where the laundry unit was so we lost over a month of income just waiting for them. How many times has Pro Star Builders failed us? Let us count the ways !! The 2 part project was for the residence and an addition with several upgrades. Over 2 years to finish it. # OVERPRICED, #SUBSTANDARD work on some of the projects. # LACK OF COMMUNICATION. # NON COMPLIANCE of CSLB codes. Cons 1. Failure of a licensed contractor to fulfill the terms of an agreement. 2. Countless FAILED inspections even when Pro Star employees have access to the database to view corrections to be made. ( confirmed by Inspector for Los Angeles County assigned to this contractor's project) Countless Inspector turnover. 3. Several requests to provide spanish speaking supervisor on site IGNORED. Thus, numerous failed inspections. We don't speak spanish. Third-party subcontractors. Sloppy workmanship. 4. Third-party substandard work provided leading to current issues we are dealing with. 5. Drawing line through copy of initial contract to provide termite services from entire house to just attic. Not legit. Yeah, especially when the owners were not advised or would have agreed to just the attic to be sprayed in the first place. ( Not logical). Charged on top of it !! 6. Plumbing in the bathroom where 89 year old elderly mother-in-law uses still have issues. Flushing, etc. Floor boards and walls stained. 7. The front door is not closing properly. Stripping constantly unsealing from door. 8. Let us not forget it took 2 years to complete the project, including handing over $25k checks time and time again. 9 . My former boss AG would consider this price gouging( overcharging for materials etc)purchase. The current artificial turf installed "looks" good but full of toxins and hot to walk on. It's NOT a good idea to get if one is decided to purchase. 11. There is not enough foam between the bathroom and the additional room. One does not need to hear someone's bowl movements or them urinating. SMH. 12. The laminated flooring is coming undone in the kitchen and bedroom. Cheap materials. 13. A driveway that needs to be fixed. PAID, but no current attempt to fix it. 14. Written paperwork signed , that $10k would be returned but was not. Additional charges were added so as not to pay that amount. 15. We requested corrections during the course of the project, and we were told everything would be corrected at the end of the project while still receiving checks from my husband. My husband blindly trusted Pro Star and their employees. Now, I am having to "clean" this mess as his pain is overwhelming. Pro: 1. Some of the projects in the residence done properly Some after the numerous corrections requested. # Our ultimate goal was to handle our numerous concerns at the lowest level possible. The phone calls, text, and over the top photos for corrections were taken lightly. Therefore, the method of relaying our request to correct the issues we have voiced will be taken seriously. Enough of the gaslighted and not doing what was asked. ## Prostar personnel were contacted recently by us and were blow off. CSLB and other government agencies will be the next step we will take. A timeline or other forms of proof will be provided to them. Business is business, nothing personal. * Disclaimer - this is our experience with Pro Star. Once again, Pro Star failed in their contractual obligations. All we have requested from the beginning is the failings to be corrected. One last note to the salesman who once told me, " we did everything correctly." WRONG - based on all the failed inspections documented. YOU - you know who you were advised to correct the matter, and YOU ignored me. Business is business. The project manager on this project ignored us, too. Taking advantage of a senior citizen who is a vet in a great deal of pain and his elderly mother who is in hospice (dying) is something that Pro Star needs to have on their conscious. Present: I put a review of this company 2months ago. Here's an update... since putting up this review the company & old project manager reached out to us. Mind you I feel they only reached out to us because we posted this review. I took myself out of the equation and my poor husband dealt with them. The company called my husband and we're very rude. Basically said my husband had attitude...mind you the company was calling to try and fix the mistake they made, but instead insulted him. My husband agreed to let the old project manager( PM) fix the flooding issue. I added 2new pictures of the drains that was placed in our backyard. It hasn't rained so I can't tell you if they work, but we are hopeful. The man who worked on the drain sounded like he knew what he was doing ( plus we did our research). Thank you Emilio for talking us through what you were doing and why you were doing it. The PM did offer to redo our messed up pavers for no cost, but to be honest I'm over this company. I did not want to deal with them at all. I didn't want them to do the drain, but my husband let them. Plus if that's the work I get for paying, what the hell type of work would I get for no money. Prostar responded to our request for a project bid on 3 occasions. The first guy came out and said he would check with his office to determine if they can find a contractor to perform the work and charge the minimum price. The same evening we received a call from the office to determine how everything went. It was explained to the gentleman about the conversation. He asked if he could send out a manager and if we had other projects. We responded that we did, however explained what we needed completed first. The next phone call wa to confirm the appointment and discuss the potential projects. Again it was reiterated what the most important project was. The young lady said no problem and took notes on what we needed. The second guy arrives the next day and we advise him on our immediate need and he says no problem. We show him the other projects. Instead of focusing on our immeduate need, he proceeds to tell us that he wanted to build trust and will start on the small project first ( our bedroom ) and then work on the stairs. We CLEARLY told him we need the stairs done first bec the last contractor took 4 months and still didn't finish. The audacity to tell us what he is going to do first was beyond ridiculous. So we politely dismissed him and said good night. Someone called from the office to see how it went. Once again we explained what happened. We were asked again if we were willing to meet with a manager. The next appointment was with both the 2nd guy and Eran Nahmias who is another project manager. Eran was determined to do both projects. He refused to consider doing the stairs alone and said since his floor guy would be here anyway, we had to do both. He wanted to charge $5500 to install flooring and paint the room that is 230 sq//ft and $8900 to design and weld the stairs. Mind you, the flooring has already been installed on the stairs and just needed minor repairs. Eran wouldn't budge unless he did both projects . We said goodbye. The 2nd guy Joseph contacted us and said they could do the stairs for $8900. We countered at $8000 and ultimately agreed on $8500. They sent over the docusign for us to accept as is. The 1st payment was $500 to start. The 2nd payment wa $3500 for measurements and design. They wanted 50% of the payment before anything was done. The demo was $3000, and the balance was for the install.. Approximate completion 30 days. We requested that changes be made to the document. See attached. We then looked at the previous bids from contractors and discovered they gave us a bid last year for the same project and didn't return our calls. Finally another manager came out and said they had under bidfed the job and that was probably why they never returned. He apologized and left us a cheap bottle of wine, which we trashed. Our friend was so lost in trying to get help for her place, so off to the internet to try and find someone down there for her. I called Jonathan on a Saturday night he called me back that evening and came out the next day to give us a quote. We got a finalized quote on Monday evening and Tuesday he had a crew there taking down the horrible sheet rock that was installed by previous contractor. That response alone by Jonathan, was impressive enough! The previous contractor left the home in worse condition than before. Jonathan's crew came in here with his very professional crew and completed it, fully cleaning up entire worksite when done. In addition to the drywall repair, we had him and his crew come back and install hardwood floors and completed our unfinished deck. He even had a gutter company come out the day after to finish up the outside! Jonathan was direct, honest and easy to deal with, someone who truly cares about the quality and satisfaction with his customers. I cannot say enough about him and would recommend him to everyone. It's great to see there are still honest reliable people like Jonathan and his company out there. The project expanded significantly after the initial gut of the space, when Pro Star discovered that the local engineer I had hired, did not properly identify that the wall I wanted to move just 8 " was load bearing. The entire design depended on this adjustment being possible. As you can see from the end result the added time, cost and frustration were ultimately worth it. Pro Star trades did an excellent job and made it come out beautifully! Special thanks to Eyal Keller, Project Manager, who's attention to detail and monitoring of the project, even while he was on vacation was stellar. I should also point out that they paid particular attention to following Covid protocols and were very sensitive to the fact that we had to live in the space while construction was going on. read more

They were supposed to fix all of our pipes under the house and charged us thousands of dollars and didn't replace anything. Every job they did was done wrong. We just recently moved into our "Forever Home" in Glendora, and spent all of our credit from the sale of our previous home. The new home needed a lot of cosmetic retro-fitting which we were prepared to do, and I, as a retired shop teacher was prepared to do it. The one glaring sore spot on the house was the old Zinsco power panel. The good folks at Pro Star Builders were good enough to take care of that for us with a fresh, 220 Volt Square-D service panel. The price was fairly competitive, and the final product was more than adequate. Leeroy Ohana was the supervisor and he brought in at least 3 trades in the form of electricians, stucco and paint. There were 3 City of Glendora inspections and Leeroy fielded those requests. We are getting bids on a complete Kitchen remodel, counters, tile, cabinets, the works. We were expecting our estimator to take measurements, talk options and come back with an estimate. Our kitchen is only 8x12, so this is NOT a very big job. What we got was a hard sell to buy their project 3-D planning service that went from an ridiculous price and decreasing to triple digits, after every NO. He showed some pictures on a laptop of other elaborate jobs, nothing as simple as ours. Not much detail on the cabinet's construction, or material and nothing about the counter tops or flooring, which was NOT included in quoted price. We got a ball park figure (one could buy an EV car amount) that did not include the flooring or counter top, but they do not do anything without buying their 3-D plan first, which comes with a designer that will come with up sales as well. If we would have been told about this 3-D planning price requirement from the beginning, we would have not wasted his or our time. My wife knows what she wants and doesn't need a sales person to tell her. Eylon used every 'used car salesmen' trick to try and get us to buy the 3-D plan. I am familiar with them all. Had to raise my voice to insist he leave after multiple "NO thank YOU's". I very much enjoyed the trick to compliment my wife on her growing her own peppers and accepting some, then mumbling 'never mind' when leaving. read more
