My fiancé and I found the perfect venue but wanted draping to really tie in the elegant look for our wedding. We had originally hired someone else but 2 weeks before our wedding they canceled! We were devastated! I called Maricela from pro prep events and she was so compassionate and understanding and said she would do our draping for us! All of the below was brought to the attention of the owner of Pro Prep Events a few days after our Luau party. Her response was defensive and she blamed us for most of her shortcomings. Not at all how a business owner should react. Summary: The Party Planner was 45 minutes late for the first appointment. Owner said she had us confused with someone she had already met with. Did not return calls or emails on three or more occasions. Had to keep contacting the owner Was late for second in person appointment. Arrived late on day of party to decorate. She said she would be there at 3:00 to finish decorating. She arrived a little before 4:00. The party was to start at 4:00. She said she thought the party was at 5:00. Family and friends decorated the dessert table and finished the rest of the tables that the owner said she would come back to finish. Rented 8 uprights. One did not work and another was stuck on the wrong color. Specifically requested no artificial flowers in the centerpieces, just sand, shells and candles. 2 center pieces did not have candles, all 5 center pieces had artificial flowers. The Dessert table was poorly decorated. Party planner only provided some platters/riser dishes for the desserts. We agreed on Avocado, Fuchsia and Yellow for table cloth colors. Instead of avocado, there was a blue table cloth. The Cake was supposed to have a surfboard, flip flops, sand and a palm tree on top, another palm tree on the second tier and nice flowers on the lower layer. The only decor on the cake were loose artificial flowers hair clips. The name on the Cake was wrong. It looked nothing like what was requested. The Cake pops were supposed to be a Tiki theme. Instead they were pineapples. We agreed the end of party pick up crew would come back at 10:30 PM to remove the tables, chairs, etc. They arrived before 10:00 and asked if we were almost done. We felt rushed to end the party. Find another party planner! read more

My husband and I got married on November 11th, and we had a wedding reception at Ta Restaurant. After hitting a bump with another decorator, I reached out to Maricela, and she was incredible. We scheduled a quick phone call consultation to go over my thoughts and see if it'd be a good fit. After that, she met us at the restaurant to lay out our specific ideas in regards to lighting, draping, and other decorations. She also met us at the restaurant a few weeks before the wedding to go over final details and questions. On the day of, she absolutely exceeded our expectations! We didn't have a big decor budget to work with, and Maricela totally made it work for us regardless. In the end, she provided two beautiful and subtle backdrops, ceiling paper lanterns (they were a huge hit), table numbers, sequin tablecloths, and an easel for our sign. From what I have heard and seen in regards to Maricela, she is the best. However after several emails and a phone call that was not returned, I'll never get the chance. I had reached out to her March 22nd via email, twice and she leave me a voicemail. I did call after 6, because my only time to talk are when I'm not working full time. 2 emails later, explaining that, I did not hear from her again. I'm sure she is extremely busy and has other clients with wedding season around the corner, it would've been nice to be given the opportunity. My fiance and I wanted to change our order because my fiance's sister surprised us with getting us linens and stuff. But marisela would not have that. I used Pro Prep Events for our wedding on September 9th 2012. Maricela Reyes the owner and "wedding designer" is NOT a detailed oriented, organized and trusted person! After I paid in full a month before the wedding, it was very hard to contact and communicate with her in a timely manner. Maricela lost our invoice one month before the wedding and when I met with her to see a full table set up she tried to remember for what we paid and also she showed up with a linen, napkin and one charger. Really?! That how my wedding tables look like?! After my husband emailed her and almost fired her about a week before the wedding she finally put the table together to us to see it! It was awfull!!! After the wedding some of our guests wondered why they didn't have the fancy chargers at their table for which we paid?! I asked Maricela and she told us that the waiters supose to put them on the table. Unbelievable!!! We paid Maricela to be fully responsible for the entire set up NOT the waiters to verify her work! I told Maricela that our expectation is to be reimbursed for the work that was not done. Maricela responded very rudely " I owe you 75 cents". We paid almost 5k for 10 tables and room set up. Also she wants to use our wedding pictures for advertising without our authorization which is not correct because the design was done by me, my friend and our florist Simon from Blooming Bouquet.!!! Organize a wedding supposed to be a nice experience but in my case Maricela managed to make it the absolute worse experience! I am thoroughly distraught and utterly dissatisfied with her service. I made a huge mistake hiring Maricela Reyes for the most important day in my life, she is by for the latest person I would ever refer anyone to. I have known Maricela Reyes for over 17 years and have watched her business develop and grow. I have been very happy to be her client, and friend. What I have noticed about her, which drives me crazy, is that she continually gives extra and does not charge for it. But when she gets a vision in her head, she wants it to look spectacular and she goes the extra mile for her clients. Maricela is a genuine person and has a heart of gold. She is very talented and I would gladly recommend her and have done so many times. Each event has turned out beautifully and has resulted in referrals. Her website includes many testimonials, including one from my wedding. She is currently assisting me with my husbands birthday party and I am really excited to see what she comes up with. My only response to Cynthia's review is that I understand wanting your money back, but in most cases you don't get it back if you cancel an event. I lost my deposit on my parents Surprise 25th wedding anniversary party when I cancelled due to my grandmothers heart attack. I lost my deposit at the Napredak Hall, Mariachi Tapatio and the deposit for the caterer. It was disappointing but it was clearly stated in the contract so I had to take it as a loss. I think its very generous of Maricela to offer any client a credit that they can use at a later time, I only wish I had been offered something similar. But in any case, I think that Pro Prep Events is great and would highly recommend Maricela and her services to anyone. read more

Unfortunately, I am unable to review Maricela's work as she was completely unresponsive to my requests. I received her contact information from our venue for our wedding. When I contacted her via her website, I didn't hear back until I sent a second follow-up email, 5 days later. The response I got was short and to the point: "I always suggest you make an appointment would it be possible to meet?" I responded immediately and got no response until I sent ANOTHER follow up email 7 days later. Her reply was even shorter this time, saying "I'm available today Wednesday and Thursday" end of email. Again, I replied immediately and GOT NO RESPONSE! 8 days later I replied again and said she's obviously at capacity and is unable to take on new clients and I will look for another vendor. It is very disappointing to have a vendor ignore requests and not just come right out and say they are overwhelmed with clients and just can't take on another one - I would understand that more than being ignored and have to play tag. Based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend or ever try to use again, Pro Prep Events. read more

The main person in charge for this place, Maricela is a very sneaky and dishonest person. We hired her for decoration at the wedding reception venue and she is very expensive. She is definitely not worth the money spent. Communication is poor, her responses are rude, and be careful what is on your invoice. If you don't want something or are not sure at the moment, don't put it on the invoice. She charges you half of the order on the meeting day and there is no refund on the amount you give her. If you should decide to change something, make sure she doesn't add extra items to your invoice that you never asked for. Also, when we decided to take some items off the invoice, like no chair covers, she decided to add tax to the invoice when there was no tax charge before so we ended up not really saving any money. We made the changes before the final 30 day period. If you should decide to use her services anyways, make sure the total on the first invoice you get is your final total and no other charges are added later. She also didn't have the reception venue set up at the agreed upon time. Some of my friends had to help set up the guest tables. Look elsewhere for a more dependable, honest, nice, and less expensive vendor! read more
