A lot of less than flattering reviews. Justified? I believe so, because I have had the same experience over the years Pro Power has been on Santa Fe. I went as far as writing and telling Redmax this shop wasn't fit to be an authorized dealer of their's. Truth be know, Redmax equipment is barely fit for the maintenance industry I am here to say the owner has changed significantly for the better and I'm glad. While I can't have repairs done there because the turn-a-round time is a bit lengthy(and many shops are on par) I do find PP is well stocked and pricing is competitive. I find PP to be honest and NOW take the time to answer questions when making equipment purchases. read more

new owners don't know much about repairing and servicing reel mowers have taken mower to get serviced several times and paid them. never really worked correctly. Ruined reel need to buy new one. Ok shop to buy stuff. Would stay away from them for repairs read more

Ordered an electric mower, edger and blower. Three weeks later, nothing. Called Pro Power repeatedly to see if they could give me any information about when my equipment would be coming in. Got the same answer every time: "Truck is arriving on Thursday." Then, "Truck didn't arrive. Next Thursday it should be here." Zero calls to me to update me on the delay. Don't they get any updates on these orders? And Stihl customer service is useless. You leave your info with an answering service person and then that person forwards it to someone else who supposedly will reach out to you God knows when and let you know what's going on. Terrible customer service. What a waste of time. Ultimately canceled the order and will go elsewhere. Rubbish. read more

I bought a battery operated weed whacker from these guys, I drove back to my house and read that the battery power was less than I needed. I drove rite back down there with receipt in hand didn't even open the box, it had only been 40 minutes since my purchase. I told them I needed more battery power and asked politely if I could return it and get my money back? The big main guy that helped me said all sales are finnal. Which is unheard of! I didn't open the box. I'm sure I could have fought it but didn't want to deal with the very rude salesman any further. I wouldn't recommend this shop to anybody!!! read more

buyer beware. The sales team will try to bait and switch you. They will sell you on a promo that doesn't exist and try to force you to spend more when you pick it up. Only after threatening a lawsuit and many weeks of back-and-forth with the owner, was I able to get a refund. Do not shop here. read more

Almost every time I went to this business to get something repaired, they always suggested I just buy a new mower, a new hedger, a new blower, etc. because they always said for the price to repair my tools, it's better to just buy a new one. I received the worst customer service from any place I ever been to. The last time I went there & will ever go there was to pick up some 2-cycle oil & the owner told me my hedger was repaired; however, I went to a property & turned it on & the same thing was wrong with it, the blades weren't moving, so I took it back into the shop & the owner continued to tell me he fixed it, & told me I did something to it to make it not work again. I told him all I did was turn it on & it still wasn't working(the blades were not moving). I told him all I want is for it to be repaired. He began to raise his voice & after going back & forth with him, he finally gave me back my $45 deposit & told me not to ever go back to his shop. This is no way to treat any customers, especially since I have bought several new machines from his shop, like a new mower, weed-eader, hedger, & lots of other necessities to run my landscape business. I will take my business elsewhere, like Washington Lawn Equipment & Home Depot. Apparently, customer service is not something this business thinks is that important. read more

I dropped off my 21" mower and not only did it take a 2+ weeks to get in for service when I picked the mower up the pull string was too short, I had to drive back for them to put a new one on, after that it was then too long and when I brought it back the mower does not start and they claim that I refused the carburetor service - very bad experience with these guys and were rude in person when I came back in - I left and took my mower to that place I bought it and they were professional and happy to help. read more

Our older generator had been neglected and left on the side of our garage for over five years. Shame on us! I called Pro Power and talked with Eran to learn what I could do. He explained what I needed to do and agreed to drive up that day to pick it up for a repair! Yes, it took about 3 weeks, and yes, the Pandemic is causing everything to run late, so I just touched base with them and they with me. We were all patient! Today, Pro Power called and shared that the generator was ready. Great! Eran drove up about an hour later - a time that worked for both of us and delivered our restored generator. He took the time to show me how to start it and gave me the old parts. He also explained that it was super important to get some fuel stabilizer to keep the carburetor is good shape. Thank you to Eran, Luis, and Michelle. It was great to do business with you! read more

After bringing my lawn equipment (generally) and my lawnmower (specifically) to pro power for service, after buying all kinds of equipment, parts, etc, after spending thousands of dollars at this business over 35 years, the new ownership now refuses to accommodate my request to cancel a $40 order. The "owner" further treated me unprofessionally and unreasonably. I have never left a review until now (this is my first). I guess i will need to bring a Small Claims action... read more

Bought a linear at the Pro Power store. Less than half an hour later I took it back because it wasn't what I needed. I just looked at it and put it back in the bag. They didn't want to exchange it for another. We were haggling. In frustration I through the Rope to the floor. The clerk attacked me and slammed my body to the ground. I started bleeding. The clerk at the store is a maniac, no self-control. Terrible service. Do yourself a favor and find service oriented fair store read more

Normally I do not write reviews and take the negative reviews I see on here with two grains of salt, but what a first experience. So I came in on 7/16/19 with my honda generator that has a recall (need an 'authorized honda dealership'). I walk up and the guy at the counter asked me what I need and told him that I'm here for a recall notice. He asks me if I have the letter and I said no, but I have the notice number and he instantly said without a letter, he can't help me. And then since my generator has been converted to run on propane as well as gasoline he said good luck finding any shop to help me. The reason why I'm writing this review is because of his tone. No customer service and essential told me to go somewhere else since he didn't want the work. Guess what, I went to the nearest honda authorized dealership (Fun Bike Center), and they are doing the work as I write this review! Bad customer service!! Normally I prefer to do business with smaller shops, but will never come here again. read more

I will say that my mower does run well now that I have it back but the customer service at Pro power will keep me from going back. While dropping off the mower I explained that 2 parts need replaced and I would also like it tuned up. They say no problem 4-6 days and we will have it ready to go. 3 weeks later I get my mower back... for a still unexplained reason they waited a week to order one part and two weeks to order the second part. When I tried to speak to the women on the phone she was so lost she hung up and the guy who was nice but had no better answer. Anyway I was frustrated with my experience and would not recommend read more

+ 1/2 ok, so they aren't perfect; the staff doesn't always have a clue, and the owner is a bit of a...."I can't believe that is the owner". They got the blower fixed, only 3xs the quoted price; but they did get it done. And my blower blows (in a good way. read more

Ugh stay away. I bought a Briggs and Stratton lawn mower late last summer and it worked for a while before conking out. I took it to Pro Power to diagnose it and see if the issue was covered under warranty. They called me a week or so later and said the motor was blown and it wasn't covered under warranty. I asked them again to double check and follow up with Briggs and Stratton to see why it wouldn't be covered under warranty since the lawn mower was less than 6 months old. I got a call back and they regretted to inform me that the motor was not under warranty. I decided I was just going to follow up with Briggs on my own, and never got around to it. I got a call about 6 months later asking to pay my bill for the diagnostic charge. I came into pay it and pick up my lawn mower. They couldn't find my lawn mower and said they must have gotten rid of it.. Needless to say I was very disappointed I would have come picked it up if they had told me they were going to get rid of it. I can't say about the skills of their lawn mower techs, but their customer service is horrible.. Stay away.. read more

My case in point; Pro Power guys are in the business legitimately, and they are dependable for repairing the equipment you've invested your money in. That is if you have brought them the equipment they are qualified to repair. I for one expect to pay good money for repairs by knowledgeable mechanics. That is happening at Pro Power. I'm not mistaken at all. I also expect them to all be weird and crazy after several years of dealing with mystified customers that believe everything is smooth and easy as McDonald's and Macy's commercials. How's taking it to McDonald's or Macy's if you want perfect, simple one liners and smiles from people that have no concept of your ever troublesome carburetors etc? Do you want an actual mechanic? Pro Power. How about happy fluffers gathered around the desk when you come in with your broken lawn care unit? Not Pro Power. Lovin' Pro Power :) read more

This place is a rip off. avoid at all cost. Took my lawn mower in and they charged me $60 to tell me I needed a new carb which was $200. This was a $50 lawn mower here. I told them I wanted my lawn mower back and they gave it to me in parts. I sat on the floor and tried to put it back together and found there were several missing parts. They got a real attitude when I started demanding my parts back. I can tell they didn't even try to clean the carburetor, they just want to rip people off. read more

Easily the worst customer service I've ever encountered. Unless you are into getting ignored then I'd pass. I've purchased two cans of 50:1 gasoline from Pro Power. The first at their Santa Fe location; the second from their Buenos Ave. location. Prior to picking up my 2nd can of gasoline, I called first for availability. No mention was made that they had recently moved. I had to drive out of my way to learn this. Upon arrival, their front door entrance sign says to go to the rear which is a bit of a walk. Since there isn't a sign in back above the door (could be one on it when closed), I had to shout to get the attention of a worker. His attitude fit the mold of previous Yelp reviewers, that is, disengaged, indifferent and socially challenged. Once inside, the female at the register struggled to obtain the price of a 1-qt. can of 2 cycle fuel. At least she seemed to be human and had a pinch of friendliness about her. Don't expect to be greeted with a warm smile or have your purchase appreciated. Not here. These folks are just showing up to work for a paycheck. For me, the sole benefit of shopping at Pro Power is the short drive over. That's it. If Amazon.com sold this product in single cans, I'd be priming my yard machines with Amazon Prime purchased fuel vs. Pro Power's customer service attitude fueled by apathy! read more

I really don't understand the low ratings! Pro Power tuned up our Sears mower. They changed the spark plug, air cleaner, key, inlet needle, rubber starter handle, sharpened the blade, and changed the oil for $101.55. I cut the yard and it works great! I'll be bringing in my Honda generator for service. PS My mover was ready in 2 days and the guys helped us put our mower in my Navigator. read more

These guy's are friendly, knowledgeable, and ready to help you out. Went in for a weed eater spark plug. I showed the guy the old one I was replacing, he noticed some white ash/powder on the spark plug and told me to check my gas/oil mixture which might be a problem. The fact was I was already replacing the plug cause the weed eater wasn't running properly and I thought it might be just the plug. The point is the whole staff is a really helpful group of guy's. It's also nice that their a local "mom n pop" business. Don't hesitate if you need any type of service for your mower or any other outdoor/yard equipment. read more

THEY LIED TO ME. Checked around for prices on Stihl parts. Obviously I can get them online at Ebay or Amazon cheaper. That's OK I want to support local guys, I don't mind paying a little more. I checked online for their prices propowersandiego.stihldealer.net they weren't that out of line. So I go in and buy a bar and chain trusting them. Get home and look at the invoice an the prices they charge are $17 more than the MAXIMUM PRICES ON THEIR OWN SITE. So I call them up and say I don't mind paying more, i can get this stuff online. Guy tells me I can't buy it online... I'm sitting here looking at prices for the same thing on Ebay and Amazon while I'm talking and I tell him that. He changes his story to that's illegal, you can't buy Stihl parts online... nonsense, that's absurd, the cops are going to arrest the Amazon and Ebay sellers??? I don't think so. Then he tells me its not a website its a web page and the prices are the "suggested" prices and it says that on the website. Bullshit, it doesn't say suggested price anywhere on the page AND you can order online FROM STIHL ON THE PRO POWER PAGE at the listed price, and pick it up. Then he tells me there's a 20% restocking fee... for new, boxed, unopened parts. Didn't ask him for that just asked why they charged me more than the highest advertised prices. I was tempted to blame Stihl for the website, and give them 2 stars, but not after I found out I could order online and pick it up at his business for the listed prices. Its only $17 bucks folks, but if you bullshit customers like that its not going to get you return business, and its going to get you a bad yelp review. read more

I can't believe this place. They moved to 1011 Buenos Ave. on 1/25/2016. I spent almost an hour return to visit their old location on Santa Fe on 2/5. When I called Jonathan Paul at 858-490-4212 he said he thought that he thought that their site (www.propowersd.com) was updated, but then added that he doesn't know why they even have a site. I just left this place and was horrified by the guy at the front counter. I am a woman, so a bit out of place at a repair shop. As I walked in to the shop, "Daniel" just looked at me, no smile, no hello, no nothing. I said my husband sent me with a lawn mower and weed wacker to have repaired and I'd need help getting them out of the car. He asked what model weed wacker and I said I didn't know. He then said, we don't work on "such-and-such" model, we don't work on "such-and-such" model, etc. He told me to go get it and bring it in (no offer of help). As I was dragging it into the shop, I got about halfway to the desk and he said "yah, we don't work on that". Incredulous, I asked why he didn't have me go and get the name vs. carrying it all the way from the car? He just laughed. I asked for a manager, he said he was the manager, I asked for the owner, he said his name is Jonathan and he wasn't there. With all the nice and hard-working people looking for work, it's hard to believe Pro Power would settle for this guy. A very bad experience. read more

UNBELIEVABLE! Hands down the worst customer service EVER! I had been coming here for years because I own a tree care business and there aren't very many specialty shops around, so I dealt with the unknowledgeable staff, the piss poor customer service, and their incompetent owner, Jonathan. Yesterday, however, they took the triple crown for WORST EVER! I had a saw that was not running right. After I personally changed the fuel and filters and cleaned it, it still wasn't running right so I took it in to PP. Two weeks later I picked it up and they had charged me $50 to do what I had already done: change the fuel, filters and cleaning. Really? Then when I went to use it, it still wasn't running right so I took it back. Two more weeks later when I pick it up they charge me $50 for replacing springs that weren't broken and it STILL doesn't run right! When I took this up with the incompetent douche-bag owner, he said "What's the big deal, it's only $50!" Are you fucking kidding me? $50 was never the issue, it was the principle of being honest and fair with your customers, something Pro Power knows nothing about. Amateurs! I would expect to see this business closing down in the near future. read more
