My family has been going to Pro for years, and we have had 5 cars serviced here for a good long time. Never pushy or trying to trick you into services. They suggest everything needed with pictures and explanation, but never pushy about it. Today I called for a slow-leak in my tire due to a nail. "Come on in" they said. 10 minutes after I arrived, I was driving away, all fixed up, AND NO CHARGE. Started going to this place because it looked nice and professional. They had mailer coupons for a full synthetic oil change for 37 bucks. Basically $10 more than doing it yourself so great deal, right? Not such a good deal when they strip your oil pan drain plug. They didn't even tell me. They stopped sending the $37 oil change coupons out so I decided to do the oil change myself and discovered they had stripped the plug. I drove over there and pointed out that this happened and ended up unknowingly talking to the owner. He immediately starts poking holes in my story making it clear that he's not going to take any responsibility for it. Said "We'll see what we can do, but if it doesn't work you're going to need a new oil pan." I said " isn't that going to be like $200 for the part and $200 for labor?" He said "at least". So if I let them "try" to fix it by oversizing the plug and it doesn't work I'm going to be stuck here without the ability to leave and I'm going to need a new oil pan. Doesn't sound like a set up at all. Obviously I'm not going to go to this guy and give him "at least" $400 to fix a problem that his shop caused. So I decided to let it drip and I'd just add oil while I looked around for a new mechanic to fix or replace the pan. I called other shops in the area to a quote for a new oil pan and EVERY ONE OF THEM said pro automotive is known for slimy shit like that. Steer clear. Edit: I see the owner has responded. Needed a tire rotation, oil change and a random squeak diagnosed. Called Pro on Sunday afternoon and was able to get an appointment for 8AM Monday, the following day. Lauren, the person I spoke with on the phone with was very professional and patient and kind. I arrived at 8am and was greeted and registered immediately by Chris, the service advisor. He was kind professional respectful and helpful. All work done on my car was communicated with me ahead of time and done with my permission. Total wait time was a little over an hour, the technician who worked on my vehicle fixed all my issues. Chris even helped me reset some of the complicated advanced settings in the cars computer radio system, truly above and beyond customer service. 5 stars, I would recommend Pro Auto to anyone and I will definitely be back again and again! Also of note, the public bathrooms are super clean! An often overlooked but important part of any business! read more

I had a check engine light, and some backfiring. With my code reader, and a bit of google research, I figured it was something to do with my valve cover and maybe my catalytic converter was an issue. I know these can be an expensive fix, so I decided to bring it to Pro Automotive to make sure this was the actual problem. Firstly, we have 2 small kids and me and my wife work opposite shifts, so having 2 cars is a must! We heard they offer loaners, and this was a big selling point to going to Pro. My wife asked, and they said they do loaners, and so we brought it in. Upon dropping it off, they said they only do loaners if the car will be at the shop for a couple days. Totally makes sense, and we left the car there so they can run the tests when they get a chance. They called us later that day, saying that he didn't think it was either the valve cover or the catalytic, but a piece of the exhaust was severed and a sensor was exposed. It would cost $1100 to fix. We were on the fence about putting that much money into this car, as its only worth about $6000, and we were thinking about trading it in. But, with current interest rates, we said go ahead and fix it! They call the next day, telling us that its still backfiring, and that they found oil leaking from the valve cover. WHAT?! That was the first thing I had asked him to check, and he said he didn't think it was the issue! Ugh, another $1000 to fix that. Since we had already invested $1100, we decided to have them fix the valve cover. This was on Friday, and the car wouldn't be done until after the weekend. Asked about the loaner, and they said they had none available. Kind of a bummer, but we just went and rented a car for a few days. They call us on Monday, saying the car is all set. We go pick it up, and I drive it off the lot, and immediately I notice there's much less power than before. Get about half way home, and the check engine light comes back on. I run my code reader again, notice there's a totally new code there, do some google research, and its coming back as my turbocharger (which wasn't there before), and the catalytic. Call Pro back up, drop off the car so they can run the test, and they call us back later in the day telling me that the Turbocharger failed and took the catalytic with it. THE CATALYTIC! The second thing I had mentioned to him that he said he didn't think was an issue! $3100, but because he feels for us, he's only going to charge us $2800. NOPE! We will be finding someone else to work on our car going forward. This has been a very stressful past week. I don't know if it was a lack of doing a thorough diagnostic or a way to squeeze money out of us, but I know this could have been avoided if the mechanic had properly done their job. read more

Deceptive advertising. I received a card stating synthatic oil change $47.97. Plus same card said bring in jar of peanut butter and get free wiper blades.my bill came to $87.97. Math doesn't compute. Look out for them they are deceitful. When I questioned the bill they said you only get one offering although there was nothing disclosing this. Bout tires from there but having a problem getting them balanced. Payed to have them balanced then had to go back because they were bouncing had to pay again to have them forced balanced. went back the third time because of the bounce and was told i would have to pay again. AT what point are the tires considered no good and sent back to the place Pro Automotive bought them from for another set. Should not have to go back every Two months to have them re-Balanced. read more

We have brought our car there for years (10+) . 8 Englewood Street Webster Massachusetts 01570. Now my daughter is bringing the car there. After having her oil change they did suggest other thing to have done. Battery is old and needs to be replaced. The stainless steel gas ling is rusted and needs to be replaced( we will have to replace the whole thing). And the gas tank straps need to be replaced. As a DAD I was upset they were trying to upsell. The time it took to do the oil change was 10-15 min but took 2.5 hours to do the paperwork. The gasline is made of stainless steel and does not rust. The battery was replace the year before. Not saying a battery can't go bad but they said it was old. The last thing was the oil change itself oil changes for years on this particular car for $16.50 plus labor of $19.35. This oil change was 49.99 Plus $5.04 in labor. Without asking they went from regular oil to synthetic oil without any consultation at all. When I called out today December 22nd at 10:30 I was told the old owner therriens garage didn't charge much for oil. When I said they should have discussed the synthetic oil with my daughter before they changed the oil they told me they did and she agreed to it when I ask my daughter about synthetic oil she's like what's that. The service has definitely gone down hill. Now I need to find a different place to have my fleet of cars serviced. I gave one stars because they did answer the phone. A Service Company should be looking out for the welfare of the client. if the stuff your servicing isn't worth servicing you should let the customer know. if it's going to be a difference in price you should let the customer know. My 2012 ford fusion failed inspection sticker for the engine light but passed all other points. My husband had it cleared out by a parts store. He said the code that was read was the O2 sensor. The garage that inspected it said to drive the car for 75 miles and come back and they would pass the car. Of course the engine light returned. I took the car to Pro Automotive in Dudley and was told that I would need to drop the car off in order for them to do a thorough reading of the codes. I told Anthony that my husband had the code read at the parts store and it was for an O2 sensor. Anthony advised that if the codes were cleared out and reset, it would take time to investigate and research all the issues. I agreed to drop the car off. After doing a "thorough" inspection of the car, Anthony called and advised that the car needed about $2,200 worth of work. I asked him what I needed to do to get the light turned off to pass inspection. Anthony said it needed a tie rod, new tires, oil change, tune up, and a front pipe gasket.This all would cost $1500.I was never given prices for the individual work, parts, or labor. I asked about the O2 sensor and Anthony said there was no code for that. I scheduled the work to be done and it was completed. Two days later the engine light returned. My husband reviewed the work done and said that the inspection passed the original tires and that the front pipe gasket had already been replaced 2 months ago. All that needed to be fixed was the 02 sensor. He went to Pro Automotive and spoke with Anthony who agreed to read the code on the car again. My husband suggested to Anthony that he gouged me since the tires had already passed inspection and that the tie rod won't throw a code and the gasket was already replaced. Anthony was able to view the inspection report in the computer system and admitted to my husband that the original tires DID pass inspection and agreed that a tie rod would not throw an engine light code. I brought the car back and the code was read - I was told that the 02 sensor needed to be replaced. Anthony told me "your husband and his buddy will replace it for you. Good luck" and refused to do the work. Clearly, I was taken advantage of and gouged for auto repairs that were not necessary to get the car to pass inspection. Anthony clearly could have pulled the inspection report, initially, to verify why the car failed, read the code and been honest with what the car needed - a $90 O2 sensor NOT $1500 worth of work. When confronted with the information, all Anthony did was have his technician read the code - and tell me to have my husband replace it. Horrendous and very expensive experience. read more

I'll start off by saying this is in no way a generalized review of everyone working there, we all know that changes as time goes by but about my experience: Pro? That's a joke. I dealt with the manager or owner. Not sure what he's considered, used to be the manager at Mac's auto in Webster. Brought my truck there because the shifter linkage broke, a repair I would have done on my own but was in a pinch for time. He gave me a quote that was reasonable and said he'd have it done by the following afternoon. Sure enough he called that afternoon and said I could go pick it up. I thought wow great little place he's got going here. Until I got home and noticed nothing on my dash was working; speedo, rpm, gas gauge, etc I called and he said to bring it right back so I did. They fix that and then I get in and my amp was no longer hooked up (the remote wire that goes to the back of the radio on the dash was split) my red flashing security indicator/reset button was cracked and in the cup holder when it should've been on the dash along with the upper part of my shifter (part with the over drive on/off button). I went back in and asked about it, he tried to play it off, I said, "well you aren't going to fix what you broke?" He replied, "no it's not really my problem at this point I fixed the first time you brought it back" I replied, "well you physically broke three things that were flawless". He then said its not my problem again. I got that feeling like get the F out of my shop basically. Basically they fixed my initial problem which a monkey could do, but broke not one but THREE flawless things that costed me twice the repair, oh he wouldn't give me a discount because of it. If you want someone that can't actually do something right go elsewhere. read more

We had two new tires mounted and balanced.We thought you were professionals, but we realized the tires were put on backwards (wrong rotation). Went back to the shop and they told my son that they were too busy to fix something that they did. Really! That's professional! Can't put a tire on right? Then told us to come back another day.
