Removing the old cable was easy. The hard part was threading in the new cable which had to pass from the hole for the pull to another hole towards the back of the chair thru the arm rest section of the chair. The Youtube video of the process looked simple. However, the section for this chair was essentially a plywood box with all kinds of obstacles including pieces of wood and nails witht the pointed ends exposed. There was no way to open it up without tearing up the chair, which was not an option. Finally, James was able to get the second end of the cable out of the second hole. It took more than an hour and he constantly appologized for taking so long, but I was impressed by his perceverence. Even though it was an expensive piece of furniture, it wasn't made with repairing in mind. I will hire him again for handyman jobs. He's open to tackling a wide variety of jobs and a good problem solver.
