We moved away from Chico for a year and came back in August '19. Since coming back we've had Priya so many times and they have never messed up on our order or anything. I have also found that their vegetarian dishes have vastly improved since my previous review. Sometimes they're spicy though, if you forget to mention a spice level. But i always just eat some rice and naan and it cools off. My only issue that's not even that big is that sometimes the rice container is not as full as other times. Lol which is not even that serious to begin with. I love Priya so much and I'm so glad when my husband mentions that he wants Indian food. My husband now orders the Butter Chicken a majority of the time, and I usually get either the aloo gobi or the aloo saag. I can't wait for post quarantine when the lunch buffet opens back up. read more

We called to see what sort of takeout options they had available and they told us about their lunch box specials! $9.95 for either a veggie or non-veggie option. We got 1 of each. Each lunch box came with 3 portions of different chicken or veggie/garbanzo beans and a portion of rice and 2 pieces of naan. The food was delicious and there was A LOT of it. Came here for the lunch buffet today. I have to say that this is one of the most fresh buffets I have been to in my life. They were constantly putting out fresh food while I was there. This was well until 20-30min before their lunch time was over. The service was great. Our drinks were filled and used plates cleaned quickly. My last visit here about a week ago was for Sunday lunch . I do not recommend the buffet. The food quality between ordering on the menu vs the buffet is so different. I don't recommend this style of food even be served as buffet . Naan is a staple and it was dried out and they ran out . I wanted naan. I was disappointed by the Sambar. I went last night with my 10 yr old son to introduce him to Indian food. I had also not eaten much Indian food in decades. I was immediately glad when I opened the menu and saw all of the dishes were described in clear, simple words. Plus, the service was excellent! They diligently minded the tables, answering even the most invasive kid questions, and attempted to guide us towards more neutral dishes befitting beginners. Immediately we were served large cracker type breads with a variety of sauces that stayed for the whole meal. My son and I thought the sauces resembled flavored hummus. I enjoyed all of them, he started to... but then got an aftertaste of something and that was it for the rest of our meal, although he tried everything. For an appetizer we ordered the variety plate of vegetable fritters (cannot recall name of dish) which was served with a sweet dipping sauce in addition to sauces already on the table. Our main course was the chicken with onions and spices (again, cannot recall the name of dish) served as a full dinner. It included multiple sauces, lentils, flat bread, and dessert. The portion sizes were perfect for us to share (with extra) and priced fair. Overall I thought the food was delicious! And I sit home now happily eating the leftovers. My son was not a fan although he preferred the bread, main course, and rice. The menu does not have a section for American food which I see as a plus. Therefore, if you're feeding a beginner, be prepared to order more rice/bread for your leftovers. read more

Serving sizes are huge, you'll have leftovers for at least two days. Over all experience is always good. The naan bread is definitely one of my favorites, but I switch up the meals I get every time. After working all morning in Chico, I was ready for some nourishment. I remembered I picked up an Indian woman from SMF and took her to Chico. She asked me to take her to Priya before dropping her off at her house. She usually cooks, but she was tired from flying all day and she said this is the place she gets her Indian fix when she does eat out. So I decided to try it thanks to her. It was lunch so a buffet was offered. Immediately upon entering I was greeted and told to sit where I liked. Naturally I sat close to the buffet. The server said I can serve my self right away, so away I went. There was a pretty good selection, small, but a good selection. I grabbed a plate and spooned some goat curry, chicken curry, butter chicken, chicken tandoori, naan, and basmati rice. After I place my place onto my table, I immediately went to the bathroom to wash my hands. I was going to handle naan after all. The bathroom smelled like it was just cleaned and that spoke volumes. After I returned to my table, a server came and poured me a glass of water. After that, I naturally dug in. All of my choices were excellent! The server came and topped of my water. The staff here are very attentive. My second plate consisted of more goat curry, basmati rice, and curry lentil soup. I didn't want to overdo it, but I was still kind of full afterwards. Last time we stopped in, my mom wanted a Diet Pepsi, but they were randomly out of it that night.
