The only reason this is not a ONE review is the massage chair. I will not be returning. I'm not sure when or why the quality of service took a nose dive but it is sad. I enjoy coming to Prive when I'm in the area and in need of a pedicure. The space is big and usually busy on the weekends, but they get everyone in and I've never really had to wait. In a world where you pretty much always have to make an appointment for a beauty procedure, I appreciate that you can still walk-in here. Came in on a Tuesday morning for a spa pedicure with regular polish. It was quiet with soft instrumental music playing. The place is always clean and tidy and they use sanitized tools. My tech's name was Ann, I believe. She did a great job reshaping my nails and cleaning up my cuticles. I mostly appreciated that she didn't rush through it and was pretty detailed. The polish was applied nicely. The best part may have been the massage chair hahaha. I needed that! read more

I had a horrible experience at Prive. Henry did my nails and I was wincing in pain the entire time while he was rolling his eyes at me and scolding me. All of my nails are different shapes and sizes, and half of some of my nails are filed off to the skin. He never told me to wash my hands between the filing and nail painting even though I specifically asked to go rinse them, and now there is dust stuck under the paint. This also cost me $75 and when I complained to the receptionist she practically laughed knowing how bad they looked and then pointed to the receipt where it says "all sales final." Prive Nail Spa, The first thing you feel when you walk into this salon is hope for a luxurious experience. You are rushed in with smiles but you will leave with painful hands and in sad spirits. I write this for the ladies that might relate and this serves as a warning for the potential customer. Do not go here and do not go back. And to Prive... do better. I came in today for a fill and my friend for a full set. My friend was finished within 45 minutes but my fill was 2 hours. In the end, I was charged the same price as my friend who had a full set. When I questioned the price which is $20 higher than the website i was told they charge for cutting the older acrylic. After questioning this and paying, they laughed at me and so I abruptly left. My artistic decisions for my nails were made by my technician, and I was simply a spectator to the "artwork" appearing upon my own hands. When I tried to communicate that this was not what I wanted, I realized that that would be futile for my technician, as lovely as she was, did not understand a word I said. She was filling in my nails like it was a sidewalk with holes in it. mind you, the gaps were created by her horrific file job which left chunks missing and those chunks were filled with acrylic in a way that had absolutely no structural foundation. My cuticles remain ever present. There was no towel, no wax, no massage. I paid $85 for a fill. My friend has pain in her fingers. She has wounds from the sides of her fingers being skinned by the nail drill. This review demands changes at Prive. 1. Your prices lack transparency and the manager fails to explain up charges. This is suspicious. How can a fill be the same price as a full set of acrylics? HOW? This makes no sense. 2. Provide clean tools. The sanitation is questionable. Nail dust all over the counter from what I can only assume is the previous customer's ground up nails, plastic nail tip pieces flying at me from the customer next to me (should have kept my sunglasses on). As I sit down during the beginning of my appointment, I lay my hands upon a red towel obviously used by the person sitting there before me??? Gross. 3. Do not use the grinder in such a manner that it is sliding all over the place and cutting my skin. 4. This place is filled with corrupt and greedy employees/manager and owner. I am always charged a different amount for my gel manicure, always throwing in a few extra dollars in price. Practically stealing! I also just got my nails done and three days later started chipping (unacceptable). I called and was told that I could come in a they would fix it. As I come out of my way to get my nails done that should never have chipped if a horrible job wasn't done in the first place- they tell me that I will have to pay to get it repaired. Can you imagine? Pretty sneaky business ploy: do an absolute horrible job and then charge to make any repairs to the nails! I waited to speak to a manger and he never got back to me. This is very nice for a walk in, no appointment required, nail salon. I walked in slightly after they opened on a Friday morning (they open at 10am) and waited about 15min for my manicure. Most of my wait time was taken up by looking at color samples and selecting what I wanted. I chose the express gel manicure which included the cuticle care and removal of the gel polish I already had on my nails, but DID NOT include the massage and hot towel after which is great because I wanted to skip that part to save time. When we sat down the technician began to immediately remove my gel polish and asked what color id like. He soon returned and stated that they were out of that color. I asked if he had something similar so he went to grab similar colors for me to choose from which was nice. I ended up choosing Taupe-less Beach by OPI and was very pleased! He did a great job with every aspect of the manicure. The service cost $35 + tip. Now one complaint I have here.... I think it's ridiculous and inconvenient that they only accept cash tips in this day and age. They even went so far as to put in an ATM (that obviously charges a fee) so that if a customer comes in not knowing this policy they can withdraw cash right there at the counter. Talk about no privacy on top of the ridiculousness. All in all, I am pleased with the service here, and I will likely return. If I could give 0 stars, I would. This is by far the worst nail salon I've ever been to. The entire staff is hasty, rude, and money hungry. The first thing they do upon arrival is hound and harass making sure you have cash for their "tips". They went as far as to follow my daughter to the ATM to ensure their cold hard cash was to be given directly to them. The overpriced nail service is hurried the entire time, all while they constantly bombard you with a service menu asking for many different add ons, hardly taking no for an answer. Once the service is over you're quickly hurried over to the unfriendly front desk person to make sure you're paying right away as they watch you shell out the cash for tip. Although at first I was a fan of this place, the location and the end result of the nails, it has fallen on my list for a few reasons. 1. After only a week of getting gel polish applied to my nails, they started to chip instantly which lead to all of them pealing off. They are meant to last at least two weeks and they didn't even come close. 2. Due to covid - I expected cleaner sanitation to be happening, however, the nail technicians weren't even wearing gloves and they didn't' wipe down my station before of after i sat there. They asked which pedicure we wanted and we chose the Prive spa pedi which in the paper indicated it was 45-50 minutes long. Quite surprised by how great my experience was! Came in at about 4pm on a Tuesday afternoon. I was sat down right away for my pedicure. My lady was so kind and personal, I appreciated her genuine compliments and small talk..bummed that I didn't get her name. I chose the signature spa pedicure! Great value with a warm soak, clean up, scrub, hot towel wrap, lotion + massage, and polish! I opted for french tips and they came out fabulous! I have been going to Prive since they opened. Service for the most part is good. But I don't know what is going on with their prices. The last time there I had an extra nail strengthen put on first. They charged me an extra $5. This time I was charged an extra $18 for the same service, and all that included was one more layer of polish on the nails. Finger-paint quality nail polish, unprofessional and belligerent customer service...with a high price! I paid for my wife and daughter to get their nails done at Privé while holiday shopping and will never enter their retail space ever again. First off, there were a few other customers who were having their nails done with their daughters and at least two other groups seemed to have issue with the discrepancies in the same services between different patrons. I heard about the service issues after the fact from my family. One person gets a service for 20 minutes and the other gets the same service for 8 minutes. The quality...well, I could do better with a large paint brush as there are several air bubbles on my daughter's nails, and my wife just got a clear coat that looks uneven and jagged in the light. The workers seem to mistakenly equate fast service with good service...I don't care how fast or slow if done well. Second, they yell at and are aggressive toward customers and do not listen when they ask questions...ultimately, they do what they want and let the customer hope the end result looks okay. Payment was interesting as they disappeared with our credit card for about 10 minutes and kept reminding that the price did not include tip...this seemed to be the one aspect they actually did pay attention to. Went here less than two weeks ago for the first time. It was located near my work so figured it could possibly be a good fit. The location itself is massive which is great. I asked for an acrylic refill. I had an older set that had been grown out about 3 weeks prior. So I needed a new set and for it to be shortened. I was kind of annoyed that it was my first time there and the woman who did my nails kept pausing on mine to talk to a staff woman next to her. When she used the powder stuff to fill my gel she applied it on very thin... I even mentioned that with that thinness it was going to snap my nail in half in like a week.. she assured me it wouldn't but of course, it did. Absolutely disgusted with Privé . After today , I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone nor will I ever return. I came in and was serviced by "Jay"on 3-3-21 , The pedicure was 8/10; but the manicure however , I had to request that he added more acrylic due to an uneven foundation and the overlay was almost as thin as my natural nails on the ends! That night , I had to be in Columbus for a very important meeting and my thumbnail overlay chipped off as I was doing Makeup ! Within 48 hours, I had to return to Privé . I called the shop ahead of time to ensure that JAY was at work and to explain the situation ; I came in and was told to be seated as he finished - I waited 30 min... he completed with his client , came by me to look at the nail - spoke in his native tongue back and fourth between the gentleman at the register who seemed to run the place . After another 3min or so, they had a random lady come over & look at my nail and she tells me to follow her. I proceeded to sit down at her desk and Jay comes over to explain that she'll take good care of me and that she'll do a good job , "don't worry ... " he said and gave me a light pat on the back . The new nail tech gave me a completely different nail shape!!! I mean here I am mortified - & now having to deal with her attitude after peacefully explaining the situation . You could tell ... she was annoyed with me for having to literally show her that all my nails are " rectangular" shaped , & now she she left me w/ a coffin shaped thumb ??? ... I had to ask her to now file my other thumb so it would match ; it was intense ...because I was being made to feel like I was in the wrong simply because I was not going to allow her to do whatever she wanted , especially when I originally paid $137 w/a $20. In the end I even tipped her $6 because they didn't charge me . LOW AND BEHOLD - 3/7/21 the corner of my middle finger overlay is broken off ; cooking dinner I notice a chip of red missing off my natural nail ! Here I am again, dealing with overlay chips and IT HADN'T EVEN BEEN A WEEK? Really .... I embarrassingly decided to go BACK 3/8, it's an hour before they close , and I meet the "manager" again... of course you can tell he gives me " You again" type of vibe ... I show him how the overlay chipped off ... the random girl pops up from behind me speaking their native tongue... she grabs my nail to look and then just walks off.... idk if she thought it was because of me , Or what ...but she said nothing about it and just turned around and walked away . We met eyes across the way and then he strolled over 5/6 min later , and goes "which nail" as he was walking up..., I show him - he looks at it closely and then tells me to come with. THIS MAN sits me down and goes to say "file down " ? I draw my hand back because I figured that would be kind of a lot to cut... I was so hesitant and told him " don't you think we need to just add acrylic " he then compares my left hand to my right by saying my right hand nail was longer then the "original nail" , so he can just even it " ... That's when he filed my nail down to a DRASTICALLY different length! The SICKEST PART is that he cut down my real nail... because he didn't want to put in any extra effort to fix his own bad job. He dusts off the residue from the acrylic and tells me " ok , all done " ... I look at my hands and realized what just happened; I looked at him devastated & dropped my shoulders ... like "no , this is not ok .. , I really need my nails to be the same" . He saw I was upset and then proceeded to say he can cut my other nail ... at that point I grabbed my purse and got up and left . I used to buy a lot of gift certificates here to give to friends and family. It has definitely gone downhill from how friendly and service oriented it was in the past. I also didn't care for the cash only sign. I do wish they posted that cash payment info on their website so I would have been prepared to pay and tip in cash. They have an ATM inside next to the register .... but that would have issued a fee. I believe you get a small discount for paying in cash. It felt rushed for a manicure and the woman who help my daughter was pretty rough with her cuticle tools and even when she handled her arms and hands. Just a dip polish change (no manicure) was $54. They also charge to take off previous dip. Exactly 1 hour after leaving the salon, my nail chipped. I didn't even hit my nail, it just chipped. Luckily they fixed it for free the next day. Not even a few days later, I had another nail chip! It's not my actual nail chipping, its the dip coming off. I'd booked an appointment in advance for a deluxe manicure and instead of providing me with this service, the nail technician yanked me back for a 15 minute manicure. She was incredibly rude and downright mean, and did not even clean up nail polish left on my hands and skin after the manicure was over. i have been to privé before this multiple times and loved the experience but will honestly never come back. I went in for a pedicure and shellac manicure. An hour later my pedicure managed to smear so I came in the next day to get that redone. 2 days after that my shellac started to lift ( 3 days from when it was applied ). I don't get my nails done often but I had a wedding to attend out of state and wanted to look nice. My nails started to lift while I was there so I had to buy nail glue to make sure it lasted me. My shellac lasted me a total of 5 days before EVERY nail came off. There is no residue of any shellac and you would never have known that I got them professionally done. I also bled for hours on end because the nail tech cut me too deep and it would not stop. I called the salon to see what could be done and just got an attitude from the manager. I was not expecting a full refund but I was expecting some empathy given I paid for a service that did not hold up. Instead I was told how since I got this done for an event and that the event passed and since I don't usually get my nails done she can't offer me any refund. Also because the nail tech has never had an issue and I'm the first person to complain. All that they could do is redo the shellac but not a single nail stayed on, all 10 nails have fallen off with no residue of any shellac and yet this was my fault not theirs because the tech has never had an issue. Last time I got shellac here it also lifted after a few days but I thought it was worth another shot. I've referred this place to many friends and family who regularly get their nails done but after how the manager treated me because I am not a regular was absolutely disgusting. All I got from that phone call was "well you got these done for an event which I'm assuming have passed and you don't come here enough" I told her that this was terrible customer service and that depending on this call I was going to come in more often and she told me that she can't rely on that. I have been a consistent customer at Prive for more than 8 years. For most of those years, I could walk in and wait for only a short time (10 minutes or so) for a manicure. I always booked mani/pedi appointments ahead. Even during the Covid pandemic, I patronized this salon once I felt safe doing so. The Covid safety measures were pretty good here. I have been a good customer, always leaving a nice gratuity for the nail tech. However, they have had a large reduction in nail tech staff, so there is always a wait now even for a regular manicure. I have tried a few times to make an appointment for a regular manicure, and the response now is "Ma'am, I'm sorry but we do not book appointments for manicures". They will only take appointments for more complex services. They try to fit the manicures in between other clients with appointments. This results in long waits, rushed and honestly unpleasant service for a manicure. Clearly the manicure is no longer worth their time. Funny-cuz I would think this is the "bread and butter" of their business. Also, where the management and techs used to be super nice and friendly, they no longer care to befriend the client.
