As first time home buyers, we were not sure how to decide about the condition of the house, beyond what we could 'see'. He was passionate and did a job as if he were buying the house. Having recently been scammed by another inspector on the same property, we knew what bad looked like. And John was on the exact opposite end of the spectrum. Trust him to give you an honest, expert and professional review of the house before you make a call. We actually decided not to buy the house as we learnt about the structural issues in the house - we would've been stuck with a lemon if not for John.

He is not afraid to tell a realtor to quiet down or get out of the way, he will spend as much time as it takes to thoroughly inspect every inch of the property so you know exactly what you're walking into. He caught multiple serious issues the sellers either didn't know, didn't disclose, or didn't want to deal with - including a structural concern, improper French drain, water intrusion, mold, and a roof at the end of its life, as well as significant chimney issues. He even flagged a massive dead tree we hadn't noticed, which turned out to be hollow and dangerous -- something that would've cost us $10,000 to remove. That alone could have become a huge liability down the line. His narrative report was detailed, easy to follow, and full of photos so there's no confusion about what was found. He is exceptionally thorough, knowledgeable, and professional, and his attention to detail can save you tens of thousands in future problems.

Accurate Inspections and Michael have a reputation of a very thorough inspector, which sometimes…read morecauses controversy, so I hope I can clarify the situation a little. Michael provides a super thorough inspection and pays attention even to the smallest details. He points out loose stones in the stairs, narrow parking spots that claim to fit more cars than it is realistically possible, stair handles placed uncomfortably, among other things. He also points out important things that are done not up to code and can cause serious issues down the line. It is a responsibility of a buyer to evaluate the findings and apply them, whether in negotiations with the seller, or just for your own reference later to understand what requires fixing and how urgent it is. And knowing that in advance, I think I received a superior service, because thanks to Michael, not only I received a concession from a buyer to fix an improperly installed, though working, garage door, but also avoided troubles with insurance company later by requesting asbestos removal and obtaining corresponding certificate. Michael's commission may be a bit higher than the market, but it's well worth it.

Luckily, we had Charles (of Best NJ Home Inspections) by our side! Prior to our home inspection, Charles took the time to give us a call to introduce himself, explain the process, and discuss what would happen after the inspection. On the day of inspection, he was already at work by the time we arrived and then spent the entire morning inspecting our house-to-be from top to bottom. As he worked his way through the house, Charles patiently explained what he was looking at and the significance of the finding. He also offered some really useful advice about future maintenance. All of that information was clearly noted (with photos) in his detailed report following inspection. What's more, Charles was always available for further conversation and even came back to the house with us. Charles made us feel comfortable and confident in the process, and I can't wait for more of our friends and family to purchase homes so that we can recommend Charles to them!
