If you're buying a home, you want someone like Kevin on your side. Realtors don't like him and that's a compliment. He is not afraid to tell a realtor to quiet down or get out of the way, he will spend as much time as it takes to thoroughly inspect every inch of the property so you know exactly what you're walking into. He caught multiple serious issues the sellers either didn't know, didn't disclose, or didn't want to deal with - including a structural concern, improper French drain, water intrusion, mold, and a roof at the end of its life, as well as significant chimney issues. He even flagged a massive dead tree we hadn't noticed, which turned out to be hollow and dangerous -- something that would've cost us $10,000 to remove. That alone could have become a huge liability down the line. His narrative report was detailed, easy to follow, and full of photos so there's no confusion about what was found. He is exceptionally thorough, knowledgeable, and professional, and his attention to detail can save you tens of thousands in future problems. read more

Kevin was incredibly thorough on our home inspection. He was knowledgeable and gave good advice about what should be done prior to closing.

We used Kevin to inspect my dad's house and he was phenomenal. He was very detail-oriented and provided a comprehensive inspection report which explained each finding in detail. We couldn't recommend Kevin enough and will definitely use him for future home inspections! read more

Yesterday, my family used Kevin & Foremost for the 3rd time. Each time, he thoroughly reviewed and explained every inch of the property he inspected. He not only inspected for what works and what needed repairs, he spent the time to make suggestions for safety and improvements that would prevent future issues. A few comments from my realtor confirmed that I had chosen the right partner: "Wow, I have never seen an inspector turn off the main water valve to test the faucets." "I wouldn't want him to inspect a property I was selling." " I can't believe how much time he spent, especially testing every single power outlet." I can't think of a better example of trust and confidence than using a company not once, not twice, but three times, each with my expectations being exceeded. read more

Kevin at Foremost Properties Inspectons is the most unbiased, knowledgeable Home Inspector that I ever had the pleasure of using. He takes his time looking and recording all facets of the Home inspection which included a pest inspection, a whole property tank sweep, as well as sewer line camera inspection. I couldn't believe that he even checked out the roof, the crawl spaces, attic and even checked out the foundation on all sides of the house. This is not a hour inspection either, he was at the subject property for 4 hours and answered all questions I could possibly think of. If you are buying any kind of house at all you have to use Kevin at Foremost Properties, you will not regret it, he also told me he does commercial properties as well and I will be definitely using him and tell all my friends to use him as well....Ourtstanding Job Kevin!!!! read more

Kevin is the gold standard of property inspectors. He goes above and beyond any other inspector as he is not afraid to get on a roof or into a crawlspace underneath the floor to make sure he inspects every inch of the property. Additionally, he was very educating on his inspection process and his reports are very detailed. Highly recommended and will be using again in the future! Thank you. read more

Kevin deserves 6 stars, if Yelp can change that. Kevin did my future-house inspection and was as thorough as I can wish. I highly recommend Kevin to any first time or experienced home buyers. If I ever buy another house, I'm definitely going to hire him for home inspection. With my home purchase, I already had one inspector and my husband and I were not happy with how the report was written (wishy-washy and vague terms). We were so dissatisfied with the 1st inspection and we complained this to our attorney, who recommended them. Then, my attorney recommended Kevin as Kevin inspected his house. From the first time I called him to scheduling inspection time, till the report was issued, Kevin was absolutely pleasure to work with and he was extremely professionals throughout the process and many many phone calls. He has years and years of experience and performed inspections on multi-million house to humble houses. For instance, people hire Kevin to inspect homes in Alpine, NJ, and the Hamptons, NY, and some celebrities'. We had a high-high expectation as we were nervous in dealing with buying a quite a old house, especially our 1st inspector was dis-satisfactory. And I know what's good vs. poor quality performance in any jobs b/c the work/results show and their communication skills shows, and their attitude can tell. Kevin exceeded my expectation from all aspects - his performance displayed true professionalism. He was super busy with other jobs but yet sent me the report in almost 3AM so that I and the seller can complete the process on time. My husband and I were relying on his report and our seller had hard time during negotiation due to his findings/observations written. We also compared his report to the 1st inspection (that we were not happy with) and it was apparent Kevin's report was with superior quality and thoroughness - so don't bother hiring mediocre inspector (save money!). Kevin is super confident, competent, and funny to speak with as well (just a small bonus when working together under stressful situation). Speaking of bonus, he not only inspected the home but also educated me on do's-and-don'ts and various cool tips on house maintenance and wisdom. I felt like I was working with a family member who truly cared about my interest in the real estate transactions and what I should know and am entitled to. With Kevin's help, we got so much more than just a 'home inspection report.' Only downside I can share for full transparancy is that his fee is a bit higher than other inspectors. However, after wasting money on the 1st inspector (recommended by attorney), I know he was worth every penny and the higher premium. He definitely delivered the quality job and EXCEEDED our high expectations. Thank you, Kevin! read more

Kevin was great! He was able to fit me in even though he was pretty booked up. He went over the inspections he thought I needed and didn't need based on the house listing and then took care of organizing all of the inspectors (sewer camera, pest, and oil tank sweep). He's a bit more expensive than most other inspectors, but you get what you pay for. On the day of the inspection, he was prompt and very thorough. Our house is not that big but the inspection took about 4.5 hours because he really goes over everything. I appreciated that he took me around as he was working to show me what issues he found and explain the problems. He also pointed out helpful things about the house and give me ideas of improvements I could make. His report is extremely thorough and written in a way that's easy to understand. After the report was delivered, we talked multiple times about the items I was asking to fix and he helped me understand what each item entailed and how immediate each fix was. One thing I would recommend is getting on his calendar as early as possible -- don't wait until after attorney review to reach out. read more

When buying a house, trust is the most important quality you can ask for in your teammates. Your team consists of your realtor, your attorney, your mortgage lender, and your inspector. If you get Kevin Burnette (Foremost Property Inspections) on your team, he will be your MVP. Kevin goes above and beyond what I expect out of a home inspector. Before he arrives on site, he will research online to get a feel for your home and the neighborhood. He'll pull together a team for who he believes should be there (sewer inspection, termite inspection, tank inspection, etc.). During the inspection, he will educate you as you go. He takes pride in educating his clients and protecting your family. Ask questions! You will be glad you did. Kevin is held in high regard even among his peers in the Northern Jersey area. People know who he is because of his excellent work, his encyclopedic knowledge, and his attention to detail. Another home inspector confessed to me that Kevin would put things into his report that other inspectors wouldn't bother to include. His inspection reports are a manual for your home. Since receiving his report 10 days ago, I have referred to his report multiple times a day, learning about the home I am trying to buy, and building a budget for the things I want to correct, update, or leave be. As a home buyer and a future home owner, this foresight is invaluable. No one wants to walk into their new home surprised and hit by year after year of unexpected failures. I now know what to expect and I am forming a plan to address these items. Kevin doesn't just focus on what is broken, he also has an eye for improvements and updates that can be made for low cost. As the official building inspector of Demarest and Haworth NJ, he knows the code and knows what you need permits for and what you don't. Kevin continues to serve you long after the report is completed. He has helped me and my wife through the negotiation phase with the seller by answering numerous questions about our prospective home. He helped us understand the criticality of the items in the report and what things should be prioritized for now vs later. When we were the most worried about our decision, Kevin put our fears to rest. Lastly, because of his commitment to excellence, his trustworthiness, and his candor, I can trust Kevin to refer me to trustworthy contractors, electricians, HVAC specialists, plumbers, etc when I need them. I have peace of mind that when I need something done, Kevin will continue to point me in the right direction and make sure that I get good quality, service, and pricing. In conclusion, because of his excellent work, continued service after the inspection, and trustworthiness, I rate Foremost Property Inspections 5*. Please feel free to reach out to me personally if you have any questions about my experience. ==================================== What my ratings mean: 1* = This is a mistake that needs to be corrected. Avoid this business at all costs. 2* = Not good. This is one and done experience. 3* = Average. It's ok and I'd go again if I had to. 4* = Really good for what it is. I want to support this business again. 5* = Best in class. This is a destination experience and well worth going out of your way. read more

We were referred to Kevin by a family member. We were told how thorough and accurate Kevin was in his work. That was an understatement. Kevin makes it clear that he is on the side of the buyer - he took his time to inspect everything he could and explained as much as possible as he was going over things. His team was top notch, extremely professional and insightful. Kevin turned around a very thorough and well organized report detailing and summarizing all of his findings. He also followed up after to see if we had any questions. I couldn't have asked for a better experience and I would be happy to recommend him to anyone. read more

Recently used Kevin for our home inspection and am happy with the experience. Kevin came highly recommended from a friend and with the reputation of doing a very thorough inspection. He does charge more than others, but knowing the high quality of inspection I was getting and nothing would likely be missed was worth it. Get on his schedule as soon as you can because the report will take a handful of days to get. Would use him on a future home inspection and definitely would recommend him to others. read more

Kevin was fantastic to work with - professional and extremely knowledgeable, he provided a detailed report with pictures and an easy defects summary for reference. He has made himself available to answer any questions and also helped provide some leads to reputable contractors for us to consider. Buying a 100 year old home, we'll need all the leads we can get, lol. I really appreciated that the day after delivering the report, Kevin followed up with a phone call and discussed his 'key findings', also providing an opportunity to address any questions I had. Refurbishing this home is sure to be a giant undertaking, but I feel a bit more confident knowing Kevin has given it a thorough review and identified the major issues. I also trust that I can consult him for advice and a few recommendations along the way, which is a huge added value. If you're interested in a thorough home inspection, look no further, Kevin is your guy. read more

Kevin performed a home inspection for us and he was excellent to work with. Kevin is one of the best home inspectors in the state and everything he does is top notch. Would not hesitate to use him again and to recommend him to friends and family. He was very knowledgeable, thorough, and was able to give great recommendations for improvements if we purchase the house. He pointed out issues large and small and helped us figure out how to prioritize any future work. He also went above and beyond to investigate some site-specific opportunities for us. He most certainly did not need to go that extra mile, and it was so appreciated. His report is very thorough and easy to understand. He has many good contacts in the state, and will only suggest other high quality people to help you during you inspection phase, or any phase thereafter. I'm so glad we found him. If you are about to spend lots of money purchasing a home, you will need a professional who rises to the occasion. You will be glad you found Kevin too. read more

Kevin was very helpful during our home inspection. Flexible, HONEST and genuinely cared about the work he was performing. His report was very through with pictures of any issues and explanation of why things were a problem. We had some bumps along the way, but we worked together to get everything done. Answered all of our questions and gave us leads on trustworthy people who could help us fix up the house (buying 100+ year old home). read more

I contracted Foremost Property Inspections to perform home inspection for me. Based on the contract, they will perform both regular inspection and put Radon test on that day. On the inspection day, they told me they forgot bringing Radon test kit and need to visit again, this wasted my time and put me on risk because I have only days' time window for home inspection contingency. They also told me they did not feel good to explain to me where are house issues because agent was around. This is ridiculous because it was their job and also why I paid them to show me house issues, report itself is not so intuitive and straightforward. On site explanation is much more helpful and necessary. They charged me double than their peers, but they did not even provide the same level service as their peers! Beyond that, they did not carry necessary inspection quality as they supposed to have, for example, for example, they did not check AC temp from register even I told them AC has issue, they did not test run washer and dryer, they failed to find roof leaking which cost me 10+K to fix, they failed to spot AC air duct leaking sign which made me hire contractor to open walls later, etc etc. In addition to all above, they delivered their report way way slow and made me crazy. I had only a few days for home inspection contingency, most inspectors deliver report with 24 or 48 hours. They did not reply my calls in 3 days after inspection, I did not know what happened. After numerous calls, they told me they expect 5 business days, we are crossing weekend, which mean it will take even more days to deliver report, that's triple time of industry practice! And they failed to deliver Radon test report, YES, they did not deliver Radon test result even after 5 months! I was charged above industry peers price, they did not want to explain house issues onsite, they did not perform quality checks, they did not deliver report timely, they missed delivering full report, they have not send me Radon report after 5 months! Now I have spent way over $10+K to repair these issues they were supposed to find out earlier. read more
