This afternoon I had to replace a crown that came off my tooth. They were able to give me an appointment in just two days. When I arrived, I was taken right away and treated cordially with respect. I was researching for a new dentist. My previous dentists were not too personable, wanted to sell me unneeded services like teeth whitening, have the dental hygienist do the fillings, do bad fillings (2 filings were replaced less than 1 year) or tell me I need to have 4 or 5 filings every time I visited. Pristine Smiles is a fairly new practice which is 3 years and it was in my dental plan network so I wanted to give it a try based on the positive reviews. I was pleasantly surprised at Pristine Smiles that the front desk person was friendly, greeted me and had my paperwork ready when I walked in (most of the front desk person I have visited are usually rude). Dr. Bogavelli was friendly and knowledgeable. She gave me the checkup exam and cleaning which was I wanted for the visit. She was honest and patient. She didn't mind explaining things when I asked. She showed me my x-rays and explained that I needed a filling replaced since the previous dentist didn't do a good job filling a tooth so there was a spacing and gap between the filling and the tooth. She said I didn't need 4 or 5 fillings which the previous dentist said I needed. She also gave advice on how to maintain the teeth. I have never heard of Ultra Soft toothbrush and those were the toothbrushes she gave out which she says are best for the tooth enamel. They were definitely soft when I used them. My first office visit went smoothly. I only waited 5 min before going back to a room. Got x-rays done. All recommendations thoroughly explained as to why they were made, and the dentist explained everything in a way that was easy to understand. My cleaning was gentle but thorough. I had a pleasant visit, with friendly and knowledgeable staff who were efficient. I highly recommend this office to anyone in search of a dentist. read more

Dentists are horrible. Nobody likes them. The smell of denatured clove oil, the taste of the gloved finger being shoved into your mouth, metal instruments poking and prodding you, and power tools that you'd be happy with for your next carpentry project. Nobody tells their friends "Woohoo! I'm going to dentist! Going to be a good day today!" It's more like -- "ugh.. dental appointment... can someone come over and feed me ice cream while I binge on Netflix for the next few days?" But Dr. Nandhini Bogavelli at Pristine Smiles is different. I switched to her after another "dentist" had to consult his underlings to find the best course of action for getting an impacted tooth out of my head. This was, of course, after he yanked, pulled, and broke it into several fragments. Come to find out, the underlings' method is the standard method of dealing with molars in general... go figure. But Dr. Bogavelli is different. During the consult, she examined what the other dentists had wanted to do (the work needed is fairly extensive and comes after years of neglect and extreme financial hardship), my x-rays, and gave me her opinions while openly letting me know that in the end... it's my choice and that her job is just to consult me and give me options rather than saying "no! This is what we're doing!" Which was precisely what the first dentist had done. Dr. Bogavelli has been kind and sensitive to my needs. She's even cracked a joke or two. And while I'm going through these horrific procedures, she's being a kind and sensitive face while performing complex dental procedures. She used just the right amount of anesthetic where I was comfortable for hours of procedure, and didn't go home feeling like my lip had eaten my face. But most importantly, Dr. Bogavelli treats you like a human. She respects intelligence and will talk to you as an equal. Enough singing of praises... I still wouldn't say going to her office is like going to the best party of the year... it's still Dental work It's still pokes and prods, surgical dremels, and sanitized scents... but this is as good as it gets. You couldn't get better dental care than from Pristine Smiles, and I strongly recommend that if you're seeking a dental professional in the Harrisburg area (especially on the West Shore), you give Dr. Bogavelli at Pristine Smiles a call. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. I was in severe pain and the dentist showed me the x ray and then told me I needed a root canal. She said that the infection was right on the root. She did NOT give me pain medication for it. I have never even heard of this before. She tried to pass the buck onto my doctor. She said she talked to my doctor and LIED to me about it. I was upset about the situation thinking that my doctor was the reason I was going to be left to suffer for the entire weekend. I talked to my doctors office and they said that they never even received a phone call from the dentist. I called her back to talk about it and she was very rude and talked over top of me in the call. Then she tried to pass the buck AGAIN onto someone else. My own doctor said that it was her RESPONSIBILITY to give me the pain medicine and that she should have. I should not have been left to suffer. No one should be left to suffer in that much pain like that. Even right now I feel like I want to take a hammer to my face. Do not go to this doctor. She's irresponsible and will want to pass the buck to someone else and she does not care about her patients well being at all. read more

Just left my first visit with Dr. Bogavelli and her team, and I can honestly say that I'm excited for my next appointment in 6 months! Everyone was extremely friendly and professional, and it was the easiest and gentlest teeth cleaning I've ever received.
