We dropped in to the Cornelius Animal Shelter today to donate some cat litter, treats and toys…read more When we lived in New York we worked closely with the local animal shelter and would foster sick cats and kittens through them until they were ready to go back to the shelter and get adopted. Our new place down here isn't big enough to handle fosters, but we still want to help out all those poor kitties. The shelter is set up to hold about sixty cats at a time (not sure how many dogs), though when we went there were under twenty of them. The cages are very spacious and clean which is important to not only the cat's health but to make them more "attractive" to prospective parents who drop in. There is also a nice little wooded area set aside as a dog walking trail, so there is a nice place where their dogs can get some exercise. The employee at the front desk was very friendly and appreciative of our donation. The location is a little off the beaten path but still worth visiting if you're looking to bring home a new family member. The cost to adopt a cat is $85 and it's $95 for a dog. I would highly recommend adopting over purchasing from a breeder or somewhere else.

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/8nqwk17hBoScgrJR/?mibextid=oFDknk…read more I just want to leave my story here It hurts my soul to see this post, I trusted Urgent Vet, my cocky felt bad on Wednesday afternoon, I tried to call and find an appointment at the place where they have always treated him Stand For Animals Veterinary, they did not answer me, I sent an email to the Doctor who treated him in August and she told me that he had problems in the urine and ordered me to give him antibiotics, yes we gave it as the Doctor told me, on Thursday he woke up better, but on Friday morning he did not get out of his bed, I sent an email to his Doctor to see if she could recommend a place to take him because I saw he was in bad shape, the Doctor recommended Urgent Vet and told me that it was not so expensive there, she made the appointment for 5 in the afternoon, we took him with my son, I paid for the X-rays that were almost $ 700 dollars, they told me that he needed surgery, that he had stones and that He urgently needed the surgery that cost $4000 or it could be more and that I couldn't take him because he was in very bad shape, and that if I didn't have the money for the surgery there were two options: 1) call a shelter to take care of the surgery but we would lose all rights to Cocky or the other was to put him to sleep. We couldn't pay that amount so we ourselves helped find a shelter to operate on him. We couldn't allow Cocky to suffer, and we never, ever authorized that he be sacrificed or put to sleep. We have had Cocky four years and we love him with all our heart and strength. He always had his medical exams and vaccinations up to date every year. My children love him, my husband and I love him, especially my 9 year old son who hasn't stopped crying and suffering since that day, and all because we were not in a good economic position at the moment, but all our family and friends know how important he is to our family. how happy he was with us, it hurts us that they take advantage of our pain to say things that are not true, my nine year old son is entering in depression because every time he came home from school Cocky greeted him with all his love and joy, just like us, my other 13 year old son is also suffering, I don't understand why they say that we had him in a miserable situation, when we always treated Cocky with love, the only thing we are guilty of is not having the money and putting our trust in emergency vet, and giving him up due to lack of money.

Doesn't change anything for us - he's a great dog and we'll love him just the same - I just don't understand how any reputable animal adoption entity makes this big of a mistake. Dr. Karla at Whiskers and Paws is truly exceptional. I…read morecannot say enough wonderful things about the care my 19-year-old cat, Goldie, received from Dr. Karla and her team. From the very first conversation, Dr. Karla was compassionate, patient, and incredibly thorough. She took the time to explain everything clearly, answered every question without rushing, and treated Goldie with such gentleness and respect. Goldie required a dental procedure that felt overwhelming given her age, but Dr. Karla's expertise and calm reassurance gave me complete confidence. The procedure went smoothly, and Goldie is already home, comfortable, and even eating -- which speaks volumes about the quality of care she received. What also truly stood out was how fair and reasonable the pricing was compared to other veterinary practices in the area. Exceptional care is often paired with overwhelming costs, but Dr. Karla provides top-tier, thoughtful veterinary medicine at a price that feels honest and accessible -- which means so much to pet owners, especially those caring for senior animals. Most of all, Dr. Karla truly listens. She understands how deeply we love our pets and treats them like the family members they are. I never once felt dismissed or brushed off -- only supported and informed every step of the way. If you are looking for a veterinarian who is knowledgeable, compassionate, and genuinely devoted to animal well-being, I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Karla and Whiskers and Paws. We are so grateful to have found her. -- Amber

This visit was very disappointing....offered vaccinations at a decent price, however, you must wait…read morein your car and be at the mercy of the vet being on time and managing time effectively which was not the case today. After waiting in the car for over 40 minutes, a call was made to confirm both dogs and what they needed. The tech even told me she didn't know how much longer because the vet arrived late. Once I heard that, I decided to leave and go elsewhere. While waiting in the car, I went on Yelp and noticed other people complaining about the same issues as mine. Walk-in clinics are great, and I have used them especially for vaccinations but in this case, waiting in the car and being at the mercy of a person who isn't very efficient is not saving money or time. I would advise to do your homework and find a vet who is reasonable with charges, and cares about people and pets, especially with waiting.
