CUBE SMART IN HAMDEN IS THE WORST POSSIBLE OPTION FOR STORAGE. I am (soon to be WAS) a long-term…read morecustomer. 7 years. I had emergency knee surgery in June, and was incapacitated for 6 weeks. During that time, the credit card I had on file lapsed. I wasn't diligent in reading business emails during my recovery as my clients all knew I was incapacitated and not working. As soon as my account was more than 30 days overdue, did they call me - a 7-year customer - to let me know my account was overdue? No. Instead they put my storage account on AUCTION STATUS and then charged me $190 in fees to remove it. The local manager would not entertain my requests for fee waivers. She then accused me of yelling at her (which I did not). Is this how you treat 7-year customers? I guess when you don't give a crap about your customers. Yes. Well - they've now lost one. I strongly advise anyone considering storage needs in Hamden to avoid this company like the plague.

They have a lot of different sizes available, and clearly have maximized all available space. The office is only open a few days a week, but the storage units are accessible 24 hours a day. This location is entirely indoors and climate controlled, which considering the ice outside as I type this, is a fantastic thing. The lighting is bright, and temperature comfortable. It's a little more than the prices in outside locations, but IMHO completely worth it.

I looked online and came across Southbury self storage. Their website was so simple and direct that I didn't believe it. There was a sale on unit rentals when I was inquiring and it was a much more reasonable pricing than I'd seen elsewhere. I called and spoke to Paul and then Rob. Anytime you call you get an answering service where they call you back after you leave a message or someone picks up right away. I've experienced both and they are prompt about communicating. Paul and Rob are also very nice. You can literally set up an account, rent a unit, and access your stuff without dealing with anyone. The parking lot is well lit as is the facility itself. They provide dollies, carts, and such to move your items. They also have a broom and pail for cleaning up any mess you've creates while moving. If you are looking for a private, safe, clean facility that is monitored without being intrusive, this is your sign to go for it. My items were retrieved at the end of the rental and wete perfectly intact and in the same condition they were left. I've no complaints and can't refer them enough.

They treated everything like it was their own and were prompt and professional. Of all of our moves over 50 years this was hands down the best. Dave and his crew were amazing on the packing and load out and Dave personally handled the delivery flawlessly. And in an industry noted for bait and switch, the price was exactly what they said it would be in their not-to/exceed estimate. You'd be crazy not to give them a shot.

Dave arrived on time with Roberto and Edison and they did not stop working until the job was done. They were kind and patient and helped us with transporting boxes we packed ourselves (that were not going into storage) into our own cars. They kept a detailed account of the packing during the day and the job came in just under the original quote. I can't speak to the efficacy of the packing job since it will be a few months until we retrieve things from storage but based on my interactions with this company I expect any damage or concerns will be handled professionally. We would definitely use this company again.

Call these guys. Seriously…read more I admit I was hesitant to use them because I hadn't heard of them, but I am sure glad I did use them. Moving is such a ridiculously stressful pain in the...ah...neck, but after my first phone call with Tom Gleason, I knew I chose the right company. I was all over the place with the dates I needed for drop off, for moving... but Tom worked with me and even threw in some humor that helped me maintain sanity throughout the process. He didn't run from my craziness, he accommodated my craziness. I'd like to think he may have actually even liked my craziness. Maybe that's too presumptuous of me. Anyway, we need more Toms around. The 20' unit we rented was perfect. The driveway drop off locations were perfect. I spoke with 2 of the drivers on the phone and met one for the final pickup just now (at 7:15am. Nice! When Tom says he'll have it picked up first thing ... he ain't kiddin!). Everyone I spoke with or met is super nice & friendly. Makes a difference when you're having to deal with all the stresses of moving. Oh. The pod itself! Probably shouldn't leave that out of the review. The pod was great too. Tons of rain (I'm talkin torrential downpours) while we had it and not a drop inside the thing. Use this company. Excellent customer service, great product & reasonable prices. A trifecta. Or a hat trick - if you're into hockey. ;)

Their excuse...people were complaining because their workers kept spilling trash on customers property. How did they fix it? By requiring customers to separate and bag all recyclables.
