We had such an incredible experience here. By far the best sushi we have ever had. Everything from the service to the quality of the food was outstanding and exceeded every expectation. Being from California, we did not think our sushi standards could be topped, but this place completely proved us wrong. Some of our favorites were the salmon belly, the red snapper sampler, the yellowtail, and the slam on hand rolls. Everything was incredibly fresh and beautifully prepared. We also loved that they had Echigo beer, which is not easy to find and was a great addition to the meal. One thing that really stood out was how well balanced everything was. Nothing felt overwhelming or heavy, and every dish felt thoughtfully put together. Honestly, you cannot go wrong with any of the rolls here. I could not recommend this place more. I want to preface this review by saying that I am a sushi connoisseur. I've eaten sushi all over the world so I know good sushi. I had high expectations when I walked in with my husband. It had a Michelin 2025 sticker on the front door so I thought it would be amazing. I want to say that the service was excellent. Very attentive servers, very professional, very friendly. The service was 5-stars for sure. Next, the food. We started with the miso soup and ginger salad. Miso soup was bland and the ginger dressing on the salad was super bland. We ordered the crispy spicy tuna and the steamed shumai next. The crispy spicy tuna was weird. The first taste bud stimuli was fishy and the last thing you tasted was McDonald's hashbrowns. Also, the chopsticks were very cheap and when you picked up the piece it basically fell apart. The presentation for the steamed shumai was horrible. It was served in a bowl with the chili garlic sauce in a tiny bowl on the side. The pieces were wayyy too big to pick up with the chopsticks and for the mouth. But if you managed to get the thing in your mouth, it was super hot and basically burned your mouth. Like there was no option to take a bite it was either shove the whole thing in your mouth or not eat it at all. The rolls we ordered were the Mr Crabby, which was the only good thing we ordered. The Naruto, which had too many layers of cucumber wrapped around it and the pieces were mini. The villain, a $25 roll with caviar on top, but the caviar was so sparse, it could barely be seen with the naked eye. Rainbow roll was ok but again, the pieces were tiny. Every roll was flavorless and the price point was stupid. $122 plus tip for a bland lunch was retarded. Super disappointed. read more

Excellent Sushi in North Carolina. No, I'm not high but I definitely was on Cloud 9 during and after my dinner at Prime Fish. But, I'm getting ahead of myself. I'll start at the beginning ... My friend and I spent the week of New Years in North Carolina. If you wanna know why, ask. Just know it includes trolls. On the tail end of the trip, we were looking for dinner and tried to dine at Prime Fish - even driving out to the restaurant only to find it was closed (New Years Day). But we did make it out the next night. Without reservations even (reservations not taken) - without a wait and had what I felt was the best meal of the week. Seated at the bar, we got to see the chefs in action. They were busy all night but still managed to engage with the guests - many were regulars and like the chefs, uber friendly. Conversations with the guests was just a bonus that made the evening one that I won't soon forget. But back to Prime Fish ... Service was excellent. We were tended to on the likes that is deserving of the Michelin recognition. It's not just about the food. Our server was attentive, friendly, funny and genuinely took the time and energy to make sure we had a great time. Even left us with her favorite candy - see pic. Then there's the fish. The fresh sashimi and sushi. Started off with an Toro Imperial (fatty tuna, sea urchin, sturgeon caviar, sea salt and microgreens). If not for the price tag ($50), I would have ordered more. We both opted for a premium Sashimi Tasting ($27). Each. I wasn't going to share. Not being enough, I ordered a Sushi Tasting while she ordered a Salmon Tasting. See pics - of my orders but know they won't do the fish, or the restaurant and chefs any justice. I could use all the key words used to describe an excellent Sashimi/Sushi experience but words can't and won't come close. I've had Sashimi/Sushi all over the world. I've been in places that just ooze "expensive" and had a decent experience. What I really enjoyed is that walking in, the makeshift "outdoor" patio wouldn't make you think this is a Michelin "recognized" establishment. The strip mall location or even the single counter and few tables. Made me feel like it was just a simple restaurants with excellent food and service. **January 2026: Friday Night Visit** My friend and I decided that we should kick off the new year on a high note. We saw many notable recognition listed online for Prime Fish which included: 2020 & 2021 Best New Restaurant, Top 50 Restaurants, and many many high Yelp reviews. Naturally, the restaurant caught our attention and we actually came on New Years Day, but found out that it was closed. Nevertheless, we were committed to trying their offerings, and decided to come back on Friday. No reservations needed, and we arrived around 7ish and sat at he bar. The majority of the patrons there were regulars who all seemed to know the chefs so it was good to hear that the restaurant had a loyal following. My friend and I ordered green tea and shared the Toro Imperial Spoon ($50 for 2: fatty tuna, uni, ponzu) and each did a premium sashimi tasting ($50). The cuts of fish were all very fresh and good quality. I hadn't really eaten all day so I ordered second portion and chose the salmon tasting ($27) which featured different cuts of salmon. The salmon belly was my favorite! Of all the North Carolina meals I had this was my favorite - in part because the food was good quality, the company was so friendly, and the service was outstanding. I'm so happy that Prime Fish is getting so much love and a well deserved national recognition. Congrats on being the ONLY sushi restaurant in North Carolina to be featured in the 2025 Michelin Guide! There are a lot of sushi/asian options so hard to choose - but HIGHLY recommend you try Prime Fish. It's mostly a sushi bar, probably only two tables and about 20 seats at the bar. The service is great, Silva really made the experience with her friendly attitude and attentive, but not overbearing service. Plenty of authentic sake and beer to choose from, and a smaller menu, but everything is excellent! You sit at the bar so you get to watch the four or five sushi, chefs work, which is an experience in itself! I travel a lot for work and this was one of the best experiences I have had in a while. I got the yellowtail crudo, which was very unique with excellent flavor. The Prime Tuna roll and Naruto rolls were also great. Highly recommend. read more

Prime Fish has a great menu. I liked their hashbrown bites, salmon roll, and some other rolls I split with my friends. We sat at the bar, and the seating was a little awkward. Someone spilled their water. Otherwise, the ambiance was cool. I liked the darker lighting for a Friday night out and thought the fish tasted fresh. Well, so far this has been the best sushi we've had in either of the Carolinas. We've been here twice, and we LOVE sushi, but a lot of the stuff out there isn't great quality or it's a lot of fluff; this place is small, quaint, with fresh seafood, great customer service and a decent selection. They are a bit on the pricier side, they didn't have a few of the options that I wanted (that I saw on Yelp), and I wish they had more vegetarian options (tempura vegetables, sonomono salad, cucumber salad, etc) but we definitely like this spot and intend to return. read more

Prime fish is a quaint spot with great customer service. We started out with the truffle salmon which was really fresh and delicious. Then we had the hash brown crisp with spicy tuna which was a savory fusion dish, also very good. We got a total of 3 rolls. The 'No Name' was delicious, there was seared beef on top which gave the roll a warmness that I really enjoyed. Also, I couldn't get enough of the sweet potato crisps. The 'Sake Yaki' is their truffle roll and it was very flavorful and unique. I've never had truffle on a roll before and it did not disappoint. Lastly we had the 'Prime salmon' which was definitely salmon forward but yummy. I'd recommend this spot for sure. They give you fruit chews at the end, a delicious little treat. read more

Walked in here with my family last night and was pleasantly surprised with the lovely service, the inspired menu (particularly the special nigiri) and the excellent quality of the sushi. We had appetizers of fried Wagyu rolls- very tasty and a generous portion; shumai- solid; special salmon belly nigiri with truffle shavings, truffle oil, and lemon- one of the best sushi bites I have had in Charlotte; Hamagi roll- excellent; spicy tuna roll-actually spicy and very tasty; and 8 piece chef's choice nigiri, including toro x 2 and scallop - every piece was delicious. We've live in the area for two years now and have struggled to find good sushi within reasonable distance of our house. PF is about 35 minutes and well worth it. Their fish is imported from Japan and the quality is there by my standards. The nigiri and sashimi portions are a bit on the small size, and the prices are on the high side. I think that's a result of logistics and lack of competition in the area. So be it. The selection of quality fish is excellent, and the presentations were fantastic. The absolute best part for me was the Japanese uni. It was totally on point for flavor and texture. I had uni negiri style with quail egg yolk tucked in there, all wrapped in a band of nori seaweed. Phenomenal! My wife loves salmon roe. We had this and it was on par. If you are into rolls, they have a very creative, delicious selection. We are going to try some of those next time through. Super fresh, super delicious Sushi paired with great friendly service here. Their selections of Sushi is very incredible with various kind of fishes you will not see at other Sushi restaurants. The place is quite small. The Sushi bar dominated the center of the restaurant with very few tables inside and a very casual outdoor tables on the front. There is no cocktails, just beers and Sakes but a very impressive selection of Sake. The Ambience here is more of a neighborhood Sushi restaurant not an upscale vibe like Baku in Southpark but the prices are higher than Baku and I can't say that the Sushi that we had were more superior. You can go here without having to dress up so super casual. If you want a special occasion romantic outing, this is not the place. Overall, if you are close to here and would like to sample super fresh Sushi not available at other places in Charlotte , money is no object and you just want to wear tea shirt and jeans, give this place a try. read more

The hostess must have had a bad day. We were a party of 4 adults, 1 child and a baby that came in when there was no one else there. Though the place is super tiny (but empty), she gave attitude when trying to seat us. As if seating us was an impossible chore. I could see by the other server the embarrassment of the hostess's attitude as the server made up for it with the service. We'll probably come back. First started doing take out from them during pandemic times, but every time I'm in the area, I find an excuse to stop in or get take out. Staff is always great, especially in a time where shortages and the demand for food services is very challenging. I've never had a bad experience. Ordering ahead is key for me and they are spot on with the pickup time and text updates every time I've ordered ahead. To be completely honest, I only heard about this place after I was given a gift card from someone that looked up the place and couldn't be happier. Sushi here is currently the best in Charlotte. Super fresh, wonderfully cut. If you prefer nigiri over rolls- this is a great spot. The tuna and salmon are buttery and the best quality I've seen in the area. The rolls looked good too and I've heard this place recommended several times before coming here. Ever drive by a restaurant several, several times and then one day you decide to try it, only to learn that the food is incredible and you've been missing out? That just happened to me. Of all the sushi I've had in my life (which is a decent amount) this is in my top five for taste, freshness and variety! It was fantastic. The different types of fish was impressive considering the restaurant isn't on the coast. As per usual, since this was our first time eating here, we wanted to try a variety of things. Miso and edamame are always a must as they are staples at any sushi restaurant. I have to say that the Miso was fine but not great. It tasted like it was too diluted. The truffle edamame was very good! It was simple, no sauces or the like, and it let the salt and edamame speak for itself. We also started with the crispy calamari and that was amazing. The rings were cooked totally on point and they had just the right amount of light batter so they weren't too crunchy to tear up my mouth, I hate that. My hubby got the 8 piece Chef Choice nigiri and loved it so much he ordered another one! Look at the price and that tells you all you need to know. I tasted a few of the second order and they were heavenly. The light dusting of lemon with the tiniest bit of spice, oh my gosh. Having to pick one favorite, his was the salmon belly and mine was the red snapper but seriously, all of them were incredible. He had the rainbow roll as well and I had Naruto (fantastic!) and Crispy Umami. I wouldn't get the Crispy again, only because with all the cold, freshness of everything else I had, the crispy shrimp, tempura flakes, rice and crispy sweet potato strings felt really heavy. But if you are a person who is new to sushi or it's not really your thing and you get dragged there kicking and screaming, then it's a great introductory roll. The room is small so at a busy time you may have a wait. We went on a Sunday afternoon though, and sat right away. The staff were friendly and attentive. I'm not well versed in sake but the selection seemed decent. Be prepared to spend a little bit more than at other sushi restaurants but in my opinion, it's worth every penny. read more

What can I say about Prime Fish that hasn't already been said? Outstanding sushi and excellent service in a bustling restaurant. It may not be the biggest spot but it was full and had a steady stream of takeout orders the entire time I was there. Best sushi I've had in Charlotte and it's not even close. I dined solo this evening and ordered the nigiri tasting, a couple of the prime nigiri selections, and some salmon belly nigiri. As all sushi lovers know...there are different levels of sushi restaurants around town and when you think about all of the top tier sushi joints in CLT...I rank Prime Fish above them in the ELITE category. It can get pricey depending on what you order but I can assure you it's more than worth it especially if you love and appreciate sushi. I was totally blown away. The staff was excellent. They were very attentive to our needs and paid extra attention to our need for GF options. They were so accommodating which really made the experience. I ordered Snow Crab Rangoon and the B Town roll. We got the Rainbow and Prime Tuna rolls as well. Everything was delicious and came out really fast. We enjoyed it.
