Prime Cut is new at the Geneva Commons. This place is working hard to build a name for itself in this area. I have been a chef for 10 years, so I have pretty good idea for top quality of beef. I ordered the Prime Ribeye Steak. The steaks what they are using is prime angus steak because as soon you bite into it the beef it melts into your mouth. And for 44 dollars you will not find this kind of kind of steak for this price! The side dishes were ok nothing to brag about. The wines they have are really good. The male bartender who was working on Sunday morning is very acknowledgeable. We will back. The inside of the restaurant is a old school/ rustic steakhouse. read more

Pretty weird dining experience overall. We originally planned to eat at the Mexican restaurant across the street, but the wait was over an hour, so we ended up here instead. The doors were open but the place was nearly empty, and at first we honestly weren't sure it was even open. On a Saturday night there appeared to be only one hostess doubling as the waitress and one busser who actually turned out to be the manager. Once seated, the menu itself was difficult to read, very small print and awkward sizing. The table placement was also odd, sitting unusually far from the booth seating. We were given plates and butter right away, but no bread, so the butter just sat there for about 15 minutes. We got waters, and after telling the waitress we didn't want anything else to drink, she later returned with larger glasses of water, leaving each of us with two waters on the table. We also only had place settings for two despite having four people, so we ended up taking silverware from a nearby empty table ourselves. The bread eventually arrived and was described as fresh, but it was pretty underwhelming. Normally fresh bread and butter disappears immediately at the table, this mostly just sat untouched. The calamari was average at best and fairly tough. There was also an awkward moment where the waitress was about to place it on the table, then suddenly took it away and returned a few minutes later because she wasn't sure the sauce was correct. I ordered the tuna tataki. It was lightly seared on the outside and raw inside, which I understand is traditional for the dish, but it ended up being much more sushi-like than I personally expected. It was okay, but not something I would order again. Oddly, the rice and vegetables that were supposed to accompany it arrived about five minutes later on a completely separate plate after I had already finished most of the tuna. The rice and vegetables honestly ended up being the best part of my meal. My brother's burger and potato wedges actually looked like one of the better menu choices. BLT was on a hamburger bun, Cobb salad had almost nothing on it. Overall, the experience just felt disorganized and underwhelming, and all of us agreed we probably wouldn't come back. read more

The food is mediocre, if I am being extremely generous. The Greek salad is served on wilted mixed greens. The French fries are clearly from frozen; the pecan crusted halibut is fishy and underseasoned. The lobster bisque tastes like melted margarine. This place was an incredible disappointment. The service is extremely slow and the wait staff is nice, but untrained. We waited a long time for dinner in an empty restaurant, and then the entrees came on top of the salads. Dishes sat far too long after we had finished eating and then the bus boy asked me to pass him my dish, which I did, but then he piled other dishes on top of it while I was holding it. Came on a recommendation from a colleague, 1:45pm on a Saturday. Sat at the bar, there was another couple at a table behind us. Took a while to be greeted, menus, then orders. Hubby ordered a sangria, I ordered iced tea. He got red wine with some cherries in it - me nothing. We ordered soups and an entree and again inquired about the iced tea. He got his soup, nothing for me. We discussed that we thought it was not going well and we should just cancel our entree and pay and go across the street. We got the waiter's attention and told him our plan. He didn't understand why and I told him that I still did not have my drink or soup. Then hubby got a shell in his bisque (it happens, but this was too much). Told him that the "sangria" was terrible. He ended up not charging us - which was nice, but we would have paid. The other table left without eating as well, not sure what their issues were but I did not see any food or drinks on their table and they got there before us. read more

We had a blast. We had a dinner that was very good, the food was great. A great wine & beer selection. Though I didn't drink. The chef offered a great menu. The staff were gracious. A great experience. A sure summer got spot. It was an elegant place to have a cozy dinner for two for an anniversary, a place to get together with good friends & for business lunches. We are looking forward to going back. Hot Spot. Go for it. We have got to support all our local businesses. Prime Cut sounds like a butcher shop. We retuned the salads and she took them back to to the cook. No one came to the table . I would suggest you avoid this place and let it run its course as it files for bankruptcy. This restaurant is sub par. Don't let the "Prime" name fool you. We were in on a Sunday at 4:00. There was one other table with a small group. This was a bad sign. We were greeted by (presumably) by the owner, who seated us at a table with crunchy paper menus that had obviously been wet at some point and dried. Menu print was small and the table had poor lighting. Calamari was fresh .... frozen from a bag. Strip steaks were fine, except for one that was grisly. We did receive a small credit on our bill. I think Costco steaks are much better but I did not feel like cooking. Aside from the meal, wait staff was attentive and we tipped accordingly. The only way this place makes it is if Gordon Ramsey Restaurant Makeover/Takeover shows up. Otherwise, it will not make it another 6 months. read more

I want to be gracious because they just opened yesterday, but, good grief, what a mess. Their online reservation system didn't work. Tried to call. No one picked up. Told the greeter about the reservation system and his response was, "Don't worry . I won't kick you out." Took forever for waitress to show up despite the place being almost empty. This place is terrible. Only 3 options for steak. There was no one in there on a Friday night, that should have been my first clue. The coconut fried shrimp was over cooked on the outside, but the shrimp was not cooked inside the breading. Service was okay, nothing great. Terrible experience. Great location and potential for this building but too many bad things to mention and this isn't a 1 time issue, too many fundamental things wrong. We had a Reservation and waited 20 min to sit despite 50% of tables open, then took 10 min after we sat down to get anything (it was empty) on our table or a waiter, then menus were delivered dirty, bread was cheap store bought with gross mashed potato spread instead of butter?, drinks were made wrong (old fashioned was terrible), people all around us were leaving because of terrible service before they got food, steaks were over cooked, host walking around saying weird stuff like - "are you guys staying?" He appeared to be in charge but was not making anything better. They had plenty of staff but were poorly organized and trained. The decor inside was almost exactly the same as the original Houlihans that was there many years ago with $0 spent on updates so just felt old and dirty. read more

I ordered the dry aged rib eye steak and it tasted really good. The steaks came with two sides mash potatoes and seasonal vegetables and both taste really. What a huge disappointment. We were excited to try this new Geneva steakhouse. I made a reservation for Friday at 6:45, though I had to call since their website wasn't working. Upon arriving, the nearly empty restaurant was a red flag, but we stayed. The drinks were weak (I had the margarita), and they couldn't make simple cocktails like a mojito. They need to step up their bar game. Appetizers took nearly 30 minutes. The wagyu meatballs were decent but not amazing. Entrees arrived 15 minutes later. We each ordered the 10 oz filets mignon. Both our sides--my potatoes and onion rings, my wife's mashed potatoes--arrived cold. The "seasonal vegetables" (mushrooms and asparagus) were also cold, with poorly prepared mushrooms and improperly trimmed asparagus that included woody ends. My filet arrived in three pieces with poor presentation, was underseasoned, and they had no salt and pepper on the table. The grilled char was the only redeeming quality. I understand they're new, but they weren't making any effort to improve. The ambiance is incoherent--a strange blend of finishes that doesn't convey "steakhouse." I don't expect them to last long, and based on our experience, it won't be a big loss to the community. read more

1. Was not addressed by any employee after being seated at the bar for over 15 mins. (There were like 8 people in the restaurant total on a Friday at 0830). 2. Mashed potatoes were cold, with one corner being super hot. How does that even happen?! 3. Korean fried chicken was gross. All you tasted was grease from being fried. 4. Fries were not salted. 5. This place has been open for 4 months and I really want to leave a decent review but just can't. Typically, I don't ever leave reviews but I feel like I need to for this one so hopefully they can improve. We went here for Valentine's day and from the reservation to the service, everything was just terrible. The food was decent but still not great. We ordered a few different items and were told "we are out of that". My friends ordered the same exact drink 4x and received 4 different drinks. All terrible. Okay - short story is that the food is solid. I had the twin filets, with crab cakes and scallops. Didn't care for the crab cakes last time we were here, so asked for double scallops and loved it. Ask for Ari or Ritchie as your server as they are outstanding. Be patient as they are likely the only serves, but that is the okay too. 5 stars for ambience, 5 star for taste of food, and 5 stars for Ari and Ritchie, but staff is light and if they are busy, you might have some waiting - but don't let that disappoint. read more

My sister and I had an early dinner and glass of wine at Prime Cut on New Years Eve. The restaurant was almost empty, which worried us at first. We sat in the dining room near the fireplace - the atmosphere was fabulous. The wait staff were friendly and prompt. We had the poke nachos and coconut shrimp with seasonal vegetables. The food was outstanding! We are already planning to go back. I know they received some bad reviews when they first opened. I hope people will give them a second chance. read more

Had New Years dinner there. Excellent aged New York strip. Seasoned and cooked perfectly. Good service.

Service was friendly and it is a nice atmosphere. However, food quality is sub par. Burgers were rare when ordered medium well. Coconut shrimp tasted like frozen shrimp and the seasoned vegetables were water logged. For a steakhouse vibe, the wine and cocktail menu was extremely limited. No beer list on the bar menu. We wanted to try out Prime Cut knowing it was a relatively new restaurant in the area. We walked in the bar and were very impressed with the appearance and feel. We sat at the bar and had a cocktail before dinner. I had a Manhattan which was ok and my wife had a dry gin martini - dry which was awful. I noticed the bartender poured a lot of vermouth in the drink which is not a dry martini. She had a few sips and we left the bar for dinner. We did not tell the bartender - he appeared to be new and was struggling to keep up with the crowd. We sat in a booth which was very dark inside. We tried to read the menu but could not. We got our phones out and used the light to order. My wife had a bowl of the Lobster Bisque which had the consistency of water but the taste was acceptable. It was brought out with a teaspoon, not a soup spoon. We asked and the waitress found a soup spoon. I ordered a Prime Rib Eye medium rare. The food came and the steak, which was hard to see due to lighting, was not of good quality, full of veins and tough. I ate a couple of bites and it had no flavor. The manager came over about that time and asked how our experience was going. We told him that we were not very happy with our experience and explained our night so far. He stepped away saying he would be back. I took a couple more bites and could not eat the steak anymore. We waited about 15 more minutes to see if the manager would show up again. He walked by a couple of times but seemed busy and did not want to talk to us. We got our bill, paid and left. I understand some of these things can happen at a new restaurant but the fact that the manager ignored us after our contact upset me. I tried to leave some kind of contact on their website but there is no place to write anything. Wonder how they will hear about how people feel about their experiences. We will not be back. The maitre d and waitress were great! That is the only thing that I can recommend for for Prime Cut. The french onion was cold and lumpy. The lobster bisque soup was terrible. We have wanted to check out Prime Cut for a couple of weeks now since it just opened, we wanted to give it time to get into its groove. My mother and I visited on 11/6 about 11:30 in the morning. When we arrived, we were "greeted" by the server who seemed to be more annoyed by our presence than excited to have customers. We brushed it off as maybe she was having a bad day. Upon seating us, she gave us a drink menu and asked what we wanted without giving us any time to look over the offerings. I promptly picked the Cosmopolitan. After a few minutes, she returned with my drink and it was mediocre at best. Weak and without any garnishments, it was not worth the $14 price tag. For our lunch, I ordered the Korean Chicken with fries and my mom ordered the Cocunut Shrimp with a seasonal vegetable and red mashed potatoes. Our food was delivered promptly but was incorrect. While my chicken and fries were what I ordered, my mother got shrimp, fries, and mashed potatoes that were clearly instant and had no signs of any red peel in them. There were also no seasonal (or any) vegetables on her plate. The mashed potatoes on both of our plates were cold. Not room temperature, but actually chilled. The chicken and shrimp were great, but we were offered no condiments for our bland, unsalted fries. Upon finishing, our plates were taken from us promptly and the check was delivered without a "thank you" or any other acknowledgement. We felt like more of a burden than a customer. Sadly, the restaurant seems nice, spacious, and was well decorated but the service and food were both lacking greatly. We will not visit again unless it experiences a major facelift in the service and food categories. read more

Despite hearing some negative reviews we visited at 5 on a Sunday because of the nearby location. The place is spacious with pleasant décor, but as seniors we needed extra light to read the menu. We had difficulty making a reservation and the dining room was nearly empty, so we were prepared for disappointment; fortunately we were not. Our server arrived promptly and was attentive the entire time, returning more than once when we weren't yet ready to order. She readily agreed to split an entree between two of our party, which some restaurants are reluctant to do, and provided side salads though they're not on the menu. Steaks were done to order as was the wagyu burger, which was presented with fresh lettuce, tomato and onion slices, and had a nice char along with the buns. We had no bar drinks and can't speak to that, but we'll be back and will leave enough room for a banana split! read more

4 groups with reservations walked in and waited 20 mins with no hostess to even greet anyone. They all walked out. I walked around the floor to the find the manager and explained the situation. Turns out he was the owner and just said yeah we're busy! So rather than greet people he was just wandering around and lost 4 groups (reservations) business because he was too lazy or careless to walk up and explain the situation to the customers. The restaurant was only 10-15% full at best. I work in the restaurant industry and have never seen such incompetence. He didn't care reservations were walking out. read more

This was the worst dining experience in over 30 years. Awful in all ways but one. They bill themselves as a steak house and wine bar, but when I asked for the wine list, they gave me a list printed on copy paper of 5 red wines, one of which was a sweet wine. You could only order by the glass and their top red could be purchased for 9.99 at a local liquor store. We were going to try their prime steaks, but the menu was so muddled ( steaks, BLT sandwich, Korean steak with vegetables, etc) that we decided to order burgers. The ony burger on the menu was a waygu burger with bacon. It came so well done it was almost inedible. I asked to talk to the manager and apparently there was none. The bartender talked with us and gave a LONG explanation about problems they were having with a wine supplier. Staff was untrained and I felt sorry because multiple people were complaining and staff had no solutions. The ONLY bright spot was our server who was earnest, attentive, helpful, but was in way over his head. All he could do was repeatedly apologize. They will be gone in 3 months! read more

If you like below-average food served cold, this is the place for you. Took my family of 9 there for dinner, and it was a disaster. The staff is young and inexperienced, so the service was poor. Ordered 4 different appetizers that came out over an extended period of time. The last one we had to ask for twice. All entrees came out cold and spread out over ten minutes. Two of the entrees were the wrong items. It may be just stratup issues so if you are thinking about trying them you may want to wait...although I doubt they will survive. read more

I really didn't want to write this review but after I saw the City of Geneva do a ribbon cutting, people need to be warned. Their opening shouldn't be celebrated when they aren't ready and are operating with dismal performance. I went there on a Tuesday night - first impression is they did NOTHING to update the inside. It was Houlihans and brought me back to 2007. Old and chipped paint, bad lighting, weird layout, dusty booths. I was excited as the menu looked promising. Our server was super sweet but had NO waiter experience. My friend and I ordered two apps - the crispy salmon and the shrimp cocktail. The crispy salmon was inedible, the rice was way over cooked and hard to bite into. The shrimp cocktail never came out and we asked for it three times. They have no bar menu, very limited wine selection and only advertise on their paper menu they can do Cosmo's or a Vodka Martini...cool. For our entrees, my friend ordered a chicken cobb salad and I ordered the filet (while at a Steakhouse, right?). Back to the waiter, when we went to order our entrees, he didn't even know to ask how I wanted my steak cooked. He did not check in on us while we were waiting for our food, didn't notice we never got our second app, and never refilled our water glasses. Completely inexperienced. My friend's chicken cobb salad came out and the chicken looked so pounded out and overcooked it resembled the look and taste of jerky. She asked for dresssing on the side and it didn't come. Again, she asked three separate times, no dressing. She didn't touch the rest of her salad for the remainder of the time. My entree came out next (a minimum of 7 minutes after my friends meal) and it was not a filet, in fact, I am unsure WHAT kind of cut of steak it was. So I sent it back. I waited for it to come out again and this time the cut of steak resembled a ribeye. I told the waiter this wasn't a filet and he tried to argue with me. I then asked for a manager. The OWNER came over and I said "not only is this not a filet, I can't cut into it... look at how grainy and grisley it is" as I attempted to cut it. He grabbed my plate and I could hear him go into the kitchen as we were seated right next to it and say "this isnt a filet! what are you guys doing!?". That is when we said we were not paying for our meals and we were leaving. The owner wanted to redo our meals "correrctly" but at that point I had waited over 30 minutes for my "signature" steak, the most expensive meal on the menu, to come out wrong TWICE. We gave the owner feedback on everything, left a tip for the server and said we'd hit a drive-thru at this point. We said he'd be closed in 3 weeks if he continued this way. He was rightfully embarassed and halfly apologetic but clearly has taken no action since then as I see review after review of the same issues. We WANT them to be successful but at this point they need to close their doors, cease operations, issue a statement of apology to all patrons and open again in a few weeks to months. They need to properly hire and train wait staff and kitchen staff/chefs, have quality ingredients that resemble their menu offerings, create a real drink menu, and at least put a different color of paint on the walls and not the same burgundy Houlihans color if they can't afford new booth upholstery or lighting. I also think Geneva Commons should have intervened and vetted a restaurant that is a major store front in their shopping mall to ensure they were ready to open and serve guests. When Geneva Commons Management is going to allow the city of Geneva to perform a ribbon cutting ceremony, they need to uphold the standards of the type of restaurant they are promoting in a space that's been empty for so long. read more
