I had a very disappointing experience with Prime Builders & Experts. The company requested our remodeling plans and spent nearly 2-3 weeks reviewing them before scheduling an on-site appointment with Ray owner, the owner of the company. My time is valuable I change entire week to meet with him, especially in construction, where every delay can affect the entire project schedule. Despite having the property address and project information in advance, Ray was unable to locate a clearly visible 5,000-square-foot corner lot and ended up approximately half a mile away. Several other general contractors have visited the same property without any difficulty. After waiting nearly two three weeks just to meet the company owner at the property, this level of disorganization was extremely disappointing. If the owner cannot properly coordinate and arrive at the correct address for an initial consultation, it raises serious concerns about how the company would manage communication, scheduling, and execution during a major construction project. In a whole house makeover we were trying to DIY, we ran into an issue with the upstairs shower surround being cracked and a leak in a couple of spots. Ray and Joel helped us do our bathroom, working with our small budget and what we were trying to do ourselves still to keep costs low. They were able to start right away and were easy to communicate with. They quoted about the same price as two other companies who were only going to do the shower, and they did both the shower and the floor! They even put up with our crazy dog! Pros: - Quality of work is great - Finishing touches - On-site Foreman (Joel) - Architect integration - Plans submitting to city Cons: - TIME! This small project took over 6 months to complete! (This is a rental unit so time was very valuable to me. - Project management- overall poorly executed. Lots of days where no one showed up. - Communication was 50/50. Sometimes good but sometimes bad. We had to ask for a weekly forecast to see what was being done for the week. - Price was higher than median price for the project. Overall I wouldn't recommend if you are in Orange County. Seems like they were a bit overwhelmed with taking a job far from normal operating area in Los Angeles. Prime did a full renovation of our house. It was built in 1965 and nothing had been upgraded so we needed new plumbing, new roof, new wiring, we removed a wall, we had asbestos to remediate, and more. They sounded professional on the phone and via text. When they came by, they seemed knowledgeable, and seemed interested in the job even though it was relatively small. The ballpark price sounded reasonable. I felt good about bringing them on and was looking forward to seeing the proposal in writing. Unfortunately, I never got a proposal. After they left, they said I would get it within a couple of days. Several days went by, and I texted with a question about materials. They answered my question and again said the proposal would arrive in a couple of days. About a week later, I texted asking about the showroom in Santa Monica. We scheduled an appointment a few weeks out since that's the soonest I could takeoff work. And again, they said I would get a proposal in a couple of days. At this point it was almost 2 weeks since the on-site assessment. I never got a proposal. Several more days went by, and I got a text letting me know that the show room was not open on the day I would be going and would I like to reschedule. I said no. If I haven't received a proposal there's no reason to visit a show room. and *now* they said I can't get a proposal until I visit the show room and choose my materials. They didn't know I had already contacted the show room since the manufacturer of the material referred me to them. I called the showroom directly, told them which material I wanted, and received an email quote for materials, so I knew exactly what that was going to cost me. But their story changed, and they said they could not submit a proposal to me until I came by in person and chose my materials. read more

Review of Prime Builders & Experts I bought a house in Rancho Cucamonga that was built in 1977. It had been last updated sometime in the 1980's so I wanted to update the kitchen, the master the guest bathrooms and flooring. Additionally, I wanted to take out a wall between the kitchen and the garage to expand and add a pantry and laundry room. I closed escrow on the property in July of 2022 and began meeting with Contractors in Aug 2022 to decide who I wanted for the project. I met with Ray and thought he understood the vision that I wanted to achieve. There is an option to start by paying for design to see if the relationship works. It was only about $7,000 and I got a new design and architectural plans. If I decided to complete the project with them then Prime would take half of the $7,000 and apply it to the project. This is the route that I decided to follow. At that point, I met with Rebecca who is the design side of the team and who ended up being my point person for the rest of the project. She produced a couple of design options using 3D rendering to get an idea of the finished product. After going back and forth and bit on the design, we settled on a final version and sent it to the architect around Oct of 2022. The plans were completed around the end of November. It was at this time that Prime Builders presented a price and option to move forward with the entire project. They broke it down with the bathroom remodel separate in case cost meant it needed to get divided into two projects. I decided to move forward with the entire remodel with Prime. My $3,500 was credited to the project and the plans were submitted to the city for approval. The plans were approved in April 2023 and so a May 2023 date was set to begin demo and construction. Overall, I am very happy with the results of the project now that it has been completed. Prime did excellent work, and everything looks fantastic. They started on time and completed the project within the timetable that was set up in the beginning. They were within budget and did not go over at all. Whenever there was anything that I had questions about, did not like, wanted to add or subtract Rebecca was very responsive and always worked so that I was happy in the end. I very much appreciated that. We passed all the inspections on the first try and got all the permits without an issue so that was something Prime did that was excellent. At the end of the job the punch list was comprised of anything too serious and Prime went out of their way to make sure that everything on my list was addressed until I was satisfied. As with any project, communication is vital and as contractors Prime could use some improvement but so could we all. I do realize and recommend that it is up to me, the homeowner, to make sure that communication is constant and relevant. I would also point out that I was working and reviewing the project from 6 hours away so that definitely posed it's own issues when it came to communication. Prime gave some guidance when it came to finishes such as the flooring, tile, backsplash, mirrors, fixtures, appliances, etc but for the most part I was on my own as the homeowner to pick what I wanted, get it ordered, paid for, and delivered. Rebecca did have some recommendations for vendors that they work with, and I did use their vendors for the countertop, cabinets, and flooring. I have been living in the completed project for about 2 months now and I can say that the workmanship has held up. There has not been any hidden issues that have arisen and everything still looks great. I would recommend Prime Builders and Experts to anyone needing to do an update and renovation project no matter how large or small. read more
