Prime is located off Independence Blvd where Brass Bell used to be. Upon arrival, we were greeted and seated. The server was not that forth coming about the menu. I had to ask what were the specials and details about the menu. We order the oysters Rockefeller, Lamb chops, and she crab to start The oyster roc was bland and the oysters were small. The she crab was salty, the lamb chops were good. For our entrees we had shrimp, ribeye, and a crab cake. The shrimp were a 10 out of 10, the ribeye was pretty good and tasty, but the crab cake was very salty.

Much better experience this evening than our first visit when they had just opened! They have definitely ironed out the kinks, as we had hoped. Service was impeccable, steaks cooked to perfection and this time my loaded baked potato was piping hot! Hubby's Caesar was also much better this time around. Definitely our new go to steakhouse in this area!

Prime 757's new permanent restaurant on Independence is a great neighborhood spot with a solid menu and friendly service. I recommend kicking off with the she-crab soup which was served traditional style with a touch of sherry. Delicious. The ambiance is that of a friendly neighborhood spot with a full bar and plenty of seating. The two time I wen it wasn't overly crowded, so the noise level was very reasonable. They are pretty new, so there are a few wrinkles still being ironed out, but Prime 757 is worth a visit for lunch or dinner!

I went yesterday for their soft opening, and it went a little odd. The waitress was absolutely lovely, and very quick with service. However, I bit into their "famous" hush puppies and a long hair came out. I showed the waitress the hair and she was very apologetic and said the back wanted to know if I'd like them remade, so I agreed. They come back and they're cold. I truly believe they just took off the one with the hair and gave me the exact same plate. I sent them back, and just asked at this point to take them off the bill and forget it. They did offer me a different appetizer, but after that I wasn't interested. My food was okay, but after that I was completely turned off. I hope they work on keeping the food hair free. I did still tip 20 percent because it isn't the waitresses fault, but that hair thing and then bringing me back a cold order really left a bad taste in my mouth.

Food truck turned restaurant- supper clean place, very pretty colors and very reasonable prices...

Happy New Year! So a friend of mine suggested we dine here, she followed the owner from when he was a food truck! First let me say the place was beautiful, very clean... I don't normally sit in booths because they are dark and sticky and gross, but this place is fresh, new, clean, the seats are light colored and you can see the floor. Very cozy. The food was well seasoned. The fries were crispy and delicious... so much so I forgot to take a picture before I dug in. I will be going back to try steak and other items. Today I got the grouper, it could have been fried a little harder, for my liking but was tasty and delicious. The owner stopped by our table a couple times Mike.. super pleasant guy! The waitress was awesome very attentive. The hush puppies were the star of this trip... I love hush puppies these were well cooked and seasoned. The facade of the building outside absolutely does not reflect the ambiance and experience inside... check it out . The photo is of my friends food she got the grouper and shrimp lunch plate it was $22... I got grouper only because I am allergic to shellfish. The prices were very reasonable. And of course the hush puppies...

This is not the Brass Bell we once knew.

This is not the Brass Bell we once knew. Much classier. The overhead lighting gave it away right away. No more picnic tables or pool table graced the floors either. Everything has been replaced with higher elegance. We aren't talking Ruth's Chris but just several notches higher than it was. We were seated in a lovely booth. The seat wasn't dreadfully low and the table wasn't under my chin, just right, hand me some porridge. Oh I miss doing this. (Hub and I are staring at 70 and are getting edgy so needed a date night.) He ordered a Mocktail I ordered a wine "with dinner". We each ordered a salad, he ordered a soup, I ordered a 6 oz tenderloin MR, baked, he did a sirloin MR, baked and we ordered a mushroom/onion. SHEW, I think I got it all. His soup was not even close to hot but won't complain and I don't do it for him. His house salad looked just like a house salad, you know what I'm talking, well thumb tapping about. My Cesar was cut Romain, a few shaves of parm and boxed croutons. That's it for the salads. Easy to forget about. The meat and potatoes came in at a fairly good time. I should have asked for the butter and sour cream on the side (do it) there was plenty. The spuds were well cooked and hot! We were both pleased with the cook and flavor of our beef. I had reminded our server about the missing shrooms. We waited and waited. We wanted them and my Red Wine with that BEEF! They came but there should have not have been a wait time. Mushrooms are meant to be eaten with beef. Just try to tell be I am wrong! However in their defense they were delicious. Prime 757 kept a rather large piece of Brass Bell. Go have a great meal and look for it.

Honestly, we were worried. Prime 757 popped up as a food truck but the GPS directed us to a physical location. IThe restaurant was fairly empty but very well appointed with a full bar and contemporary interior. I noted that it had been open since 11am. We stopped for lunch around 2pm and there were no customers in the establishment... curious. The manager (maybe owner) came off as a bit overbearing when suggesting dishes since my partner specifically asked for a recommendation from the chef but I quickly understood once our server Ava noted that the space had only been open for 2 months. My perception shifted to an overly-involved manager/owner to someone who truly wanted to ensure success and share what their staff can do. The service was lovely, although I personally have a pet peeve with servers touching their hair during service. Ava was attentive, followed the rules and nailed suggested selling (go Ava). The food, delicious. The chef, King recommended the pork chop. It DID NOT disappoint. Moist, flavorful and enticing to the eye the pork chop was the star of the table. However the burger and fish po'boy were very close contenders. Tender, flavorful and satisfying are just a few words that can describe the culinary experience. My only regret was we weren't able to try any cocktails (I had my eye few of the coffee based drinks). Not to worry, it'll be top of mind for next visit. Great job, Prime 757!

Great fish & chips that are cooked to order! Very polite & welcoming each time I visit the food truck. Very clean & organized around the truck and especially the area for utensils, napkins & bags.

Prime USDA Frnch dip sandwich, (no cheese) with Au jus.

Awesome food! Ordered 2 French dip sandwiches, one with cheese, one without, and an order of hushpuppies. Everything was great. Hushpuppies were crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. And the sandwiches were perfect. The roll had a slight crisp to it while the meat and onions were perfectly cooked. I definitely recommend the French dip but I cannot speak on the seafood, however if it's anything like the sandwiches it should be great.

This review is for the actual restaurant and NOT the food truck. They had a soft opening this week in August and I had to check it out. They did a great job on the renovations and it was definitely an upgrade. I love that they did honor the Brass Bell and have a huge sign that says Brass Bell near the bathrooms. We were seated immediately. There was a delay on the ABC license so there were no cocktails. We just had water. My sister doesn't like seafood and we had a big lunch so we decided to do a bunch of apps and sides. We started with Steak Bites and mozzarella sticks. The steak bites were good and plentiful. They said the dip was horseradish but I tasted more ranch than horseradish. Presentation was non existent. It's tough though because usually making it "pretty" means the parsley or lettuce or whatever gets thrown out. The mozzarella sticks were fine. Then we got the mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and broccoli. Everything came out really fast. Mashed potatoes and mac and cheese were both delicious. Loved the crusty top on the mac and cheese. The broccoli was not good. A bit overcooked and no seasoning whatsoever. I like on the menu they have the food truck popular items marked. They also have a private room that holds around 16. Service was great. They are still working out kinks but that is to be expected. The owner came over and checked on us. I want to go back and check them out again and see if there will be a HH menu. :)

I think this time was even better! We arrived around 230 on a Saturday, lucky for us happy hour started at 3 and we had a 30 minute wait for 6 people. Literally perfect timing because no one was waiting before us and about 10-20 minutes later the waiting area became packed for that 3 o clock happy hour. Side note: happy hour is from 3-7, 7 days a week! The service was phenomenal, the whole staff was so nice and accommodating. While we waited for our table, we were able to order a cocktail from one of the waitresses. We also had a baby with a stroller and they made sure we had plenty of room once we were seated at our table. The food was amazing, I'm a fan of cooked oyster but i decided to be a little spontaneous and try them raw. I was pleasantly surprised at how fresh and clean tasting these oysters were. It reminded me of eating sashimi. My wife and father in law had the lobster rolls, they both loved them! My son had the double cheeseburger from the happy hour menu, literally cannot beat this deal. $6 double cheeseburger with fries on the boardwalk is unimaginable lol. I had the Nashville hot chicken, which was good but maybe could've used a little more flavor. But the quality of the sandwich as a whole was spot on. I really don't have any complaints, this was the highlight of our day. My in laws live in Wisconsin but they travel a bunch and they said that these oysters were some of the best they had ever had. They would never see 1$ oysters where they live, so I'm glad we were able to come here and create this memory together. If you've ever debated whether taking the trip to the strip is worth it, it is! Definitely check this place out!

My most recent visit here was on January 23, 2026. I've seen this place several times as I have gone with my mom to Hobby Lobby. It caught my attention again to try this place when they were listed as a part of the 2026 Virginia Beach Restaurant Week. This is what ultimately got me to get in and try them out. The outside of the place is similar to other places next to the business, but they are very easy to spot. On each of my visits here, I didn't encounter any issues with parking and such, so there seems to be ample parking available. When my mom and I first came in, we were immediately greeted and were able to get a table immediately. I wasn't sure what it would be at first since I saw stuff about reservations. This first visit was on January 21, 2026. Once we were seated, our server came to the table to ask us what we wanted to drink. I did the water with lemon, and my mom went for a Coke, though the Coke never came to the table during this first visit. In the end, that was no big deal. Since we were here specifically for the restaurant week, we stuck to that menu that evening. For the appetizer, I went with the Picanha Empanadas. For the main entree, I went with the 8 oz Filet Mignon with Green Beans and Queso De Mano as my two sides. For the dessert, I sure did go for the Rum Crème Brulée. My mom ended up doing the same thing on this first visit. A few minutes after ordering, the Empanadas came to the table. This came with an olive mayo chimichurri for dipping. The empanadas and the chimichurri complemented each other very well. The taste was amazing too. A few minutes before the entrees would come out, our server came over and put some hot sauce and chimichurri sauce at the table to use. When the entrees came out, they looked really good, and they were hot, so it took a few moments to start. I started with the green beans, and they had such a great flavor to them. By the time I finished that, it was time to indulge in the Filet Mignon. I had ordered it on medium, and it was cooked perfectly. This is not something I have often, but this was awesome. The flavor paired with the chimichurri sauce made it an enjoyable entree. I finished off the main course with the Queso De Mano cheese. This was a very flavorful cheese. The last course was the Rum Crème Brulée. It was quite the surprise when the server came with a blowtorch to go over the top of the dessert. This dessert was the ultimate indulgence for me as I don't normally do these types of foods. The experience was so good that we decided to come back a few days later, on January 23, 2026. I would end up getting the same set of items since it was still restaurant week, but we also ordered the Guacamole appetizer since we were there during happy hour. The chips and guacamole were amazingly good. You can tell it was made fresh. My mom got the Picanha Burger this time. I can say she really liked the burger. Overall, these were two excellent experiences during the restaurant week. The food and service were great with no major issues. One thing I want to note is that they do charge a 3.5% fee if you use a card to pay instead of cash. If you're looking for a unique type of steakhouse, this place is absolutely worth checking out.

We had three servers approach our table to get our drink order until one of the three settled on being our server. Odd. I ordered their Filet Mignon and it came with two sides. I picked boiled yucca and asparagus. (Note: Asparagus and Green Beans were the only vegetable option.) They seemed to have a dedicated staff for delivering food to the tables, but they brought the wrong order to our table at first. Thankfully, it was a quick turnaround for the right order. We may have waited fifteen minutes tops for our food after placing our order. Not bad for a busy place. I got my steak rare (the only way to eat a steak) and it came out perfectly. It even had hints of flavor from the grill. Know what I mean? My yucca was okay. Not excited about the pickled onions on top (it didn't say that on the menu) which I scrapped off. It was seasoned lightly with butter and salt. My asparagus was crisp and delicious. Anytime I cook it at home it gets mushy, yet theirs was spot on. The restaurant itself was a bit dark inside, and decorated with a country-western vibe. (I remember when it was a karaoke bar, RIP!) The service could have been better, but their food is a good enough reason for us to return.

We were honestly a little hesitant going in because of the reviews... and unfortunately, I can see why now. First impressions -- the restaurant is gorgeous. The hostess stand is stunning, there's a visible dress code posted (which caught my attention), and the bar area where we were seated is beautifully designed with a very upscale Italian vibe. It was surprisingly empty for an 8 PM reservation, though -- only one other couple in the bar area and no one in the main dining room. Our waitress was a standout. She greeted us right away, was incredibly pleasant, and very knowledgeable about the menu. We always appreciate when a server can confidently recommend dishes -- it makes a difference. They start you off with focaccia bread, and I have to say... it was amazing. Soft, flavorful, and paired with olive oil and balsamic for dipping -- easily one of the best parts of the meal. (Side note: I'll never understand why two people get three pieces of bread give us four so we don't have to negotiate!) For entrées, my Bestie ordered the rigatoni Bolognese, and I went with the fettuccine Alfredo (no pancetta, no peas -- which they did accommodate). Here's where things went downhill. The pasta was not good. At all. I understand al dente, but this wasn't that -- it was hard. On top of that, it tasted like boxed pasta, which is disappointing for a restaurant that presents itself as upscale Italian. When we mentioned it to our server (after barely touching our plates), she did go back to the kitchen, but we were told that's just how they cook their pasta -- and nothing was adjusted. At that point, there wasn't much else to do. We didn't even bother with dessert. Between the underwhelming food and the unwillingness to address the issue, it just didn't live up to expectations -- especially after seeing how beautiful the space is and how great the service started off. Would I go back? Probably not. I prefer fresh, properly cooked pasta, and this just didn't deliver.

First, let me say the service was absolutely TOP TIER! The staff was attentive, friendly, and the overall atmosphere definitely gave that elevated dining experience. I don't mind paying for a fine dining experience as long as the food matches the experience. We started with the crab dip appetizer, and honestly it was solid. Definitely a good appetizer choice. For drinks, I kept it simple with a tequila sunset and substituted pineapple juice for orange juice a good drink! Now for the meals. I ordered the lamb chops with mashed potatoes and green beans. I hate to even say this because I had such high hopes, but the lamb chops lacked seasoning for me. I ordered them medium, but they were definitely more medium rare. I love a medium rare ribeye, but not so much with lamb chops. The mashed potatoes and green beans were decent, but overall needed a little more flavor. My husband had the Butcher's Burger with wedges. He said it was a solid burger, slightly overcooked, but still good overall. He did enjoy the different flavor the pork belly added. My daughter ordered the Pasta Pescatore and said it was good, but not necessarily an "oh my goodness, I have to come back for this" type of dish. Overall, because so many people told me I would LOVE The Butcher's Son, I think my expectations were extremely high. The experience and service were excellent, but the food itself didn't completely wow me. It was good, just probably not my first choice for a return visit.

The atmosphere is nice, the food is spectacular, service this time was just ok but not something that would ruin our night. Our waiter was very absent for the most part, it did take a while for us to get our drinks and order; not much check backs for refills and such but overall he was a good server. The food is always amazing, I've never had a negative experience for their food. And the location is nice. The establishment is clean, more on the higher end, we came in dressed to impress for our date but you had a mix of how people were dressed. Down to just your everyday wear. 10/10 recommend

Great for Wine, Not for Dinner (Unfortunately) I don't know…read morewhy my Bestie and I keep doing this to ourselves -- we love Cooper's Hawk for the wine tastings, but every time we try to give dinner another chance... it ends the same way. After our tasting, we decided to sit down and order one of our longtime favorites: the short rib with mashed potatoes and vegetables. We hadn't had it in a few months because the last time was an epic fail, but we figured we'd give it another shot. As always, the pretzel bread and butter were a highlight -- that part never misses. The entrée, however, was another disappointment. The vegetables were noticeably undercooked -- still hard and crunchy -- and the dish came out with barely any sauce, even though I specifically asked for extra. For a short rib dish, you expect that rich, flavorful gravy to tie everything together... and it just wasn't there. A manager did come over after I pointed it out, and she genuinely tried to make it right, which I appreciated. We were offered another meal to take home, but at that point we were honestly just over it. To end on a positive note, I tried the Banoffee Pie for the first time (recommended by the manager), and it was actually really good -- rich, sweet, and worth trying. I also ordered their chocolate cake to go (which I usually love), but when I got home, it wasn't in the bag. I had to call for a refund, which they did handle -- but it just added to the overall frustration. At this point, it's become a pattern. When I first started coming here over a year ago, everything was consistently great. Lately, though, the dinner experience has been more miss than hit. We'll absolutely continue coming back for the wine tastings -- those are still top-tier. But for dinner? We're done trying.

Valet parking at the Cavalier - which I like. I don't have to hassle with parking, a set price of $7.00 plus tip to the Valet. Just part of the ambiance of the hotel. The Hunt Room's atmosphere is you Dad's old hunt club vibe. Pictures of animals, stuffed birds and deer heads on the walls, Leather couch and chairs around a fireplace, and warm wood paneling and low lighting. Very comfortable. Our waitress was awesome in every respect. She asked the right questions, made great wine recommendations. Her timing was perfect, very quick and efficient, and very personable. She was wonderful. We started with sharing the four Reuben Egg Rolls with Russian dressing appetizer. Crispy flaky crust with delicious Reuben meat inside dipping into enjoyable Russian dressing. We ordered salads and our waitress asked small or large. Once she explained the difference, small Wedge for me and a small Pickled Beet Salad. Both were excellence. For comparison, the large salads are a meal unto themselves. My wife decided on the Wild Mushroom Risotto for her entrée. A very generous bowl of rice, wild mushrooms, and peas in a creamy garlic sauce. She loved it. My wife could only eat half of it; the rest came home in a doggy bag. I had the pan roasted venison loin. Two big medallions cooked medium rare, laying on a bed of creamy garlic mashed potatoes and peppercorn demi-glace with roasted Broccolini cooked just right, wilted with some crunch still left in them. We both really enjoyed our dishes and highly recommend both dishes! We finished with some nice hot decaf coffee and shared the creamy delicious Bourbon Apple cheesecake and the warm Upside-Down brown butter cake which is suppose to come with mango sorbet. But our waitress agreed to my request for vanilla ice cream instead. These desserts were fabulous. Thank you, Hunt Room for a great 45th Anniversary night out.

It's located in the basement of the historic Cavalier Hotel which is absolutely gorgeous. Valet parking and they charge you $7 and if you pay through the app, it's additional $1.25 service charge. Like they aren't charging you enough for the food, now you have to pay for parking too. Let's not forget the tip for the valet guy too (deserved). The atmosphere is like a man's cave. Dark and like the name, "hunt" decorated. When you enter there are overstuffed leather sofas in front of a fireplace. Tons of photos of animals as well as taxidermy animals. Everything relating to hunting. The place was rather loud with a few large parties. To the point that my guest and I couldn't even hear each other. Once they left, it was nice and quiet, unfortunately, we were about to leave as well. I was told it's best to make a reservation, so I did through open table but I don't think it was needed at the time of our off-peak visit (3.16.2026). Service was great. The waiter kept returning to see if we needed anything and how the food was. It was our first time trying the Oysters Rockefeller ($18 for 6) which is Half Shell Oysters stuffed with a creamy spinach and applewood smoked bacon which were good. At this time, I had nothing to compare them to, but 2 days later, I had them at The Atlantic on Pacific and those were SO MUCH BETTER! A lot cheaper too during happy hour. I had the Filet Mignon ($49) - Garlic and Herb whipped Potatoes, Roasted Broccolini, Tarnished Truth Steak Sauce and Sauteed Mushrooms (I'm allergic to Mushrooms so I had them on the side for my guest to enjoy them). Very good meal. The Tarnished Truth Steak Sauce is so yummy, I could drink it. Complimented the Filet Mignon and the potatoes so well. The broccolini was also delicious. For dessert I got the Smore's Brownie ($10). It was more like a chocolate cake with marshmallow, Caramel and Chocolate Sauce and Vanilla Ice Cream. It was not worth the money or the calories. Pretty tasteless. You need walnuts in a Brownie or it's just chocolate cake. I had gotten a Reuben sandwich ($18) to go and it was very fatty like bacon. Unfortunately, it was a waste of money because more than half of it went in the garbage due to it being so fatty. I felt the place was rather pricey and if you are just dining there, I do feel the valet parking should be free or reimbursed by the restaurant (i.e. take the charge off the bill). I think you can find some more reasonable places and better food nearby.

The last time I set foot inside their Pleasure House Rd location was at least 10 years ago. I celebrated my birthday there as my friends were kind enough to take me out. It was a Sunday morning and I sought out a place that offered brunch. I noticed 1608 was open and decided to head over, especially since I haven't visited them in ages. When I walked in, I noticed their dining room is dimly lit - much darker than I remember. I was greeted immediately by a kind hostess and she proceeded to sit me at a nearby table and provided me with menus (one food, one alcohol). I took my time looking over the food menu, and in the meantime I ordered a pint of Center of the Universe's Bald Irishman and a bottle of Boylan's Black Cherry soda (they do not have a soda fountain). What made this visit memorable was that 1608's bartender, Hunter, was an old acquaintance from back in my restaurant days. He spotted me and came over to say hi. After my meal, I continued to catch up with him at the bar. His presence made a pleasant experience even more fantastic. I thought I was hungry, so I ordered 2 dishes - Smoked Ham Fried Rice and the Breakfast Burrito. According to Hunter, every item is made fresh in house. After biting into each, you could tell that's true. Both the fried rice and burrito were delicious and boasted lots of flavor. Although I prefer my fried rice a bit simpler (if you give me just garlic fried rice, I am SET), 1608's fried rice (veggies, garlic, soy, basmati rice, 2 runny eggs, smoked ham) had a lot going on, which made for a flavorful dish. I liked the rice and the burrito (Korean style fried chicken breast, scrambled eggs, cilantro lime, cheddar, pico de gallo) a lot. I didn't finish either because it was a lot of food (I really thought I was hungry, haha). But these leftovers turned into a fantastic dinner later on. 1608 looked clean and organized, although I thought it was a little too dark inside, at least for brunch service. That's not a dealbreaker since everything from the food to the service was as excellent as I remember. I hope to return soon with my mom. Regardless, I'll find my way back eventually. Thank you, 1608 Crafthouse! And great seeing you again, Hunter! JV

P.S: The server and host were attentive and nice, so the low rating is entirely for the food. My bf and I ordered a truffle fries to share, I ordered the Braveheart Ribeye with broccolini and risotto(forgot what flavor but it was cooked in a cream sauce), and my bf ordered the Ribeye Lasagna. The truffle fries: the fries tasted fresh but they looked like the b-dub fries. Comes with ketchup, which I was hoping for some sort of aioli for an upscale chophouse. The Braveheart Ribeye: The temperature was what I asked for(medium rare), but the char is straight up crispy brunt and bitter as if I'm eating charcoal pieces. I also ordered a demi glaze on the side, and that tasted and looked like some McCormick sauce. No demi-glaze flavor and the color is transparent like those powdered gravy packets. The broccolini was bitter. They were tucked under the steak so maybe the brunt from the steak went onto the broccolini... The risotto was creamy but they were undercooked cuz they were still hard. My bf said his Ribeye Lasagna just tasted like a normal lasagna like he couldn't tell the difference of normal beef and the "ribeye meat" that they used, but it was a big size and the sauce was pretty good so he thinks it's worth the money. The creme brulee... I have this tradition with my bf which we will order a creme brulee(if the restaurant provides) during our first visit. I'm no Michelin creme brulee reviewer, but I'd say I tried and made enough creme brulee to identify what a standard and good creme brulee is, and unfortunately this just ain't one. The flame on top is a cool gimmick but it melts the supposedly crispy top to a little too soft (we waited for about 5 mins after the flame was gone before eating it). The texture of the creme was NOT creme brulee but more like flan, when the creme should've been more of a custard/solid but creamy like texture. We were told their creme brulee has a little orangey-taste to it, but the orangey taste just totally covers the flavor of creme brulee. All we could taste was a bitter orange flan. Although my bf likes his lasagna, we both agreed that for this price we would've expected better tasting food. I have no doubt that the ingredients they used were high quality, but this is just not gonna go nowhere when you don't have the right chef to cook them.
