He's the third one I've been to, and I'm not an uppity person or cheapskate.. I am however a skeptic in a lot of areas. Every tine is go to other doctors, they didn't know what to do with my first kid's mild jaundice or his growth (I'm of Asian decent and my wife is like 5 foot). It's discouraging to see your kid on the 20th percentile of anything, but doctor here knows his stuff, he doesn't send you to a specialist every time you go in... plus he's a very nice knowledgeable person. I've been to doctors who like to show off their med school vocabulary... ones that don't really care.. ones that love referral money to get you to other specialists. Just watching him hold, interact, and look at my kid - I just knew this is a guy that loves his job and cares for his patients. I hate to give a good review to flood his offices (potentially) but I can't recommend Dr. Waggoner enough.

I especially like that they talk directly to the kids about their care and engage them in small talk as well. When I used the on call system on a weekend, the doctor was patient, kind, and calming. He also answered questions and didn't just send us off to the ED as a precaution. While my kids don't have any special healthcare needs, I know they have experience working with a variety of patient needs. Highly recommend!

We had to get put on a waitlist for awhile, because Dr. Hirl wasn't even taking new patients at the time. When we finally got in, I understood immediately why she came so highly recommended. She has all of the genuine, warm, happy and funny bedside demeanor that I think all pediatricians should have. On top of all that, this woman is THOROUGH. She has never once rushed us through an appointment. She's checked every inch, run through all possibilities, offered multiple options, been upfront and honest, and I just cannot say enough good things about her. In addition to all the great things about Dr. Hirl, the rest of the staff here are very friendly and upbeat. It has always been a good experience.

We have been in town for one week from California and planned on contacting this doctor because she advertises being in West Des Moines and focusing on alternative medicine. I called yesterday and who ever scheduled the appointment said tomorrow at 9 am. I said we'll take it. We drove all the way here and were told the appointment was scheduled for another day. We drove one hour with an 8 month old! I'm very sad and will not be returning to the appointment. I'm writing to warn you all of this situation. I'm not sure of the doctors skills because I didn't get to meet her, but I can tell you she is not in West Des Moines.
