The boat was clean and in good working order...AND there were inflatables with a battery powered inflator for when we stopped to swim.Last but not least, the owners are friendly and personable people. I was searching for a 2026 Yamaha…read more222SE, and after finding that Marineland Boating Center, WACO had a 2025 model listed at a very attractive price, I reached out to discuss a trade-in for my pristine 2020 Yamaha 195S SVHO (only 54hrs on the engine). Unfortunately, the experience quickly devolved into a bait-and-switch sales tactic. After providing a low-ball offer on my trade-in, they hit me with a series of aggressive mark-ups that brought the final price higher than a brand-new 2026 model at a different dealership. Most notably, they attempted to charge an additional $700 for items like batteries, a fire extinguisher, and a spare tire--essentials that should be standard on any new boat sale (see attached screenshot). It is absurd to pay thousands in "undisclosed fees" for a previous year's model, and I was especially shocked by the $200 "lake test" fee. Imagine being asked to pay for a test drive at a car dealership! I am incredibly relieved that I rejected this FARCE / SHAM offer and avoided making the two-hour drive to Marineland Waco. FINALLY Zach and I made it out onto Lake Belton! We tried last year and Frank's was doing some…read moremaintenance on the bobcats and then we just didn't get around to it. So we showed up today a casual 10 minutes late. I'm always stressed about being late and they were very cool with it which immediately relaxed me. I think the marina itself could use more signage as we didn't see where to go to check in and had to be directed by someone else on the dock. We find our way, one of the employees said she was going to check that our bobcat was working (really appreciate that, always want to know it works) and we checked in inside. Without prompting, they recommend some cool areas of the lake to check out. This was excellent and I loved it. Zach was driving, so I was thriving, and they had wine on sale for 20% off, so they twisted my arm and I ended up with some delicious, cheap, plastic, single-serving bottles of wine. They were very patient with my nerves as we got loaded onto the boat and I tried not to lose all of my items. I really misinterpreted the size of the boat and, as I always do, overpacked. We did not need towels, we did not really need ... anything .... except maybe the wine. They gave us a great overview of how to steer the bobcat, cuz it was a little different than what we are used to with big boy boats, and we were off! We had a great time, we made it back alive, we signed a paper saying we were alive and had returned their bobcat, and they surprised us by saying bobcat rentals no longer have to pay for gas. We did not argue and hippity hopped it out of there. They made it so easy, the price is reasonable, they seem to have pretty open availability, and you can rent by the 1/2 hour. I can see us having a date night where we grab some dinner at Deadfish and then take a bobcat out for an hour to watch the sunset from the lake. This is my life now? No complaints.

I…read morehappened to be in Plano over the weekend for a conference so since I came this far, I hopped on a bus and scheduled myself for less than 24 hours in Waco! I didn't realize that the #Magnolia properties are closed on Sunday, so I found other fun ways to get the Waco hospitality from the moment I arrived. I was actually glad that I got to see the town for what it is a few days before people traveled there from all over for #Silobration. I look forward to returning to Waco for a longer visit! I booked this tour through the Viator website and the tour group was really responsive from the beginning. I was actually concerned that my bus arriving to town might cause the tour to be delayed if they waited for me, but they were so kind with accommodating my schedule. It all worked out as it should timewise. I really enjoyed learning about Waco from Shannon and Don's perspective. First of all they are super friendly and welcoming and make you feel like neighbors! They shared stories of individuals from this small town who had done great things. They talked about big natural disasters that the town overcame! They showed us the natural beauty of the area around the zoo, and the rivers around town. I loved the college town feel too that made me long to go back to those college days. I also got to see several of my favorite fixer upper homes as we drove through town - many of which are now airbnbs! I don't want to spoil all that they shared, but I highly recommend their tour and will definitely return to do their river sunset tour. I also really appreciated that since they knew I was on foot and trying to get to the Dr Pepper Museum before they closed in less than an hour, they offered to drop me off there, which is not the normal ending point for the tour.

It's hard to hear the commentary from the back of the bus; and, we only stopped twice: once to see Common Grounds and get a drink, and the second to stop in a park to see a view. It was quite chilly in their Sprinter; and I would have preferred to have more places to explore from outside the vehicle.

Anyway, the site beside us was full of frat boys who were drinking heavily through the night. Falling out of their cars, puking everywhere, screaming. I checked on them a few times and they were nice enough but continued to play music into the early hours of the morning disturbing my family and the family next to us. People use hipcamp to avoid the crowds. This was like a typical Texas state park. Nothing special besides the river. The hiking was terrible. And the lots are SMALL. We left an honest and fair review on the hipcamp website and the owner Tony responded with the most hateful retort, haha. Saying that his ranch was worth $5million dollars and our measly $100 rental didn't deserve a bigger site or space. That the $100 wouldn't even pay for his gas. He caters to the ones who rent out the acre lots, not weekend campers. Very unprofessional. So I'm sure for some this place will be fine, but management is rude and the lots are trash. We will never go back and would not recommend this site to anyone looking for a relaxing camping trip. This is stripmall camping on a pretty spot.
