So we showed up today a casual 10 minutes late. I'm always stressed about being late and they were very cool with it which immediately relaxed me. I think the marina itself could use more signage as we didn't see where to go to check in and had to be directed by someone else on the dock. We find our way, one of the employees said she was going to check that our bobcat was working (really appreciate that, always want to know it works) and we checked in inside. Without prompting, they recommend some cool areas of the lake to check out. This was excellent and I loved it. Zach was driving, so I was thriving, and they had wine on sale for 20% off, so they twisted my arm and I ended up with some delicious, cheap, plastic, single-serving bottles of wine. They were very patient with my nerves as we got loaded onto the boat and I tried not to lose all of my items. I really misinterpreted the size of the boat and, as I always do, overpacked. We did not need towels, we did not really need ... anything .... except maybe the wine. They gave us a great overview of how to steer the bobcat, cuz it was a little different than what we are used to with big boy boats, and we were off! We had a great time, we made it back alive, we signed a paper saying we were alive and had returned their bobcat, and they surprised us by saying bobcat rentals no longer have to pay for gas. We did not argue and hippity hopped it out of there. They made it so easy, the price is reasonable, they seem to have pretty open availability, and you can rent by the 1/2 hour. I can see us having a date night where we grab some dinner at Deadfish and then take a bobcat out for an hour to watch the sunset from the lake. This is my life now? No complaints.

I went in on a Saturday to look at a specific kayak they had in stock. As soon as I opened the door…read morethe smell hit me. The shop smells like a litter box. There's at least 1 cat walking around and it's clearly been using several items in the place as scratch pads. One kayak had the flooring all torn up. The furniture with padding is disgusting! There are birds too. Cages were disgusting. Even the fish tank was gross. In fact, the place looks like it's owned by hoarder. There's stuff stashed in various areas. The more you look around, the more you see. Now on to the shopping experience. I told them what I was looking for and they directed me to a "salesman". He showed me what I was looking for which was outside covered in dirt. That's where his usefulness stopped. He had no clue about any of the kayaks I wanted to see. Told me the kayak had 800lb weight limit but it's actually 650lbs. When I asked where the floor inserts were he said they didn't come with them, but they actually do come with them already installed. Asked for a specific color and was told that color was "defective" and the manufacturer was recalling all of them, and that's another lie. When he realized I wasn't going to buy one right then and there, he proceeded to follow me around the store for the remainder of my visit. The only way he would've gotten closer was if he had ridden on my back! I ended up driving to San Marcos the same day and bought the exact kayak I wanted. If you buy anything from here, make sure you disinfect the hell out of it.

This place is just foul. This is a hole for sure. Walked in and immediately smelled cat piss. I…read moreonly noticed one cat but you can tell it laid on everything in the store. It had hair and scratches in the boats and furniture. Then there were bird cages that smells bad as well with almost black looking water in them. Fish tank didn't look too good either. There was a bag of open chips and other food items like salsa out in what looked like a break room, along with what looked like newspapers and trash laying around. It looked like hoarders storage unit. The boats were dirty and the kayaks were stacked on top of each other outside. So you had to move them to look at the other ones. It just looked completely unprofessional compared to other places. The sales guy didn't know anything. Everything he said was completely wrong from the pamphlet they have of the kayak I wanted sitting up front for anyone to take. If I can't get this kayak I want from anywhere else, then I'll just swim around.

Parking was $5. There was a playground for kids, the lake had a large swimming area, and the grass was well maintained. There were bathrooms, but they aren't air conditioned so it was like a sauna and there was no toilet paper as it got later in the night. Luckily I had baby wipes in my bags with me. There were ants that would bite every once in a while and that was probably the worst part. It would be nice to have power outlets for our speakers, a concessions stand for snacks so we don't have to leave the park if we ran out, and I wish we could have rented some boats or something. But besides that my friends and I had an awesome time. I definitely recommend this park for good times at the lake

Launching the boat by 7:00 am and returning late in the evening, skimming across the water as the moon light bounced off the water, as smooth as black glass. The smell of the night air, the cool breeze on your sun kissed skin, and the sound of the engine purring as we cruised back to the dock, was the perfect ending to a perfect day. The Army Corps of Engineers designed these boat ramps with everyone's safety in mind. The boat ramps are well lighted and maintained; most have floating docks, where your family can easily board the craft. http://brigittethompson.hubpages.com/hub/Things-to-do-on-Lake-Belton-Texas-Marinas-Fishing-Camping-Boating-Hiking-Trails We would ski across the lake to our favorite spot, beach or anchor the boat, grab the cooler, set up the BBQ pit and lawn chairs. My brother and his friends would fish from dawn to dusk, and I would hang out in the water soaking up the sun with my girl friends. I still remember the smell of the hamburgers and hotdogs, cooking on the grill, and the sound of my parent's laughter echoing off the canyon walls as they sat around the fire with their friends and told stories about life and the crazy things that went on in their jobs. As an adult, I knew this was something I wanted to share with my children and so a family tradition began. We have, water-skied, tubed, fished, picnicked and camped at several of the wonderful locations on Lake Belton. Together we made great memories, our children have since grown up, and have moved away to start careers and families of their own. When my son was 15, he gave us the greatest compliment any parent could ever receive. He said, "Thanks for teaching me how to fish, to water ski, drive and pull a boat and park a camper. Because of you, I will be able to do all these things with my family one day." And so the family tradition of a day at the lake will continue for generations to come. I believe spending time together as a family needs to be a part of everyone's life, all to often we are caught up in the drama of our careers, and the exhaustion of trying to keep it together, we often forget the simpler things in life. Belton Lake has many things to offer from fishing docs, campgrounds for tents and campers/RV's. There are fantastic parks, with picnic tables, shade trees, pavilions, playscapes, public beaches located in BLORA and Temple Lake Park, nature trails and more. In this article, I hope you will find great information on things to do and see on Lake Belton, Texas.
