Sugar Free Pecans and Pecan Clusters

Priesters is a gem. Great assortment of clothes, gifts and unique items. The star of the show is the Pecan products and candies. I especially love the Sugar Free chocolate covered Pecans. None of the sugar free products have that weird after taste. 10 out of 10.

This is a go to stop whenever south of Montgomery on 65.They have amazing pecan candy and fudge. They also have all kinds of merchandise as you can see in the picture. The staff are friendly and ready to please. There also is a cafe if you are hungry. The Working Man Review stops here for a taste of the south and a taste of Alabama.

We love a roadside attraction and this was a perfect place to stop heading back from Mobile to TN. They have a nice selection of pecans and we got to try a variety of the flavors, though the original roasted were definitely the best. They have a large variety of foods and lots of home goods (like Cracker Barrel), so there's definitely something for everyone here. It's just a nice place to grab some local pecans and we enjoyed stopping in here.

Pecans!?!? Who knew that you could do so much with Pecans. This place has candy, fudge, ice cream, cakes and food. Did I also mention Pecans? There are also so many kinds of gifts, clothing and college memorable. Along with so much more then could be discussed. Next level above Craker Barrel gifts shop. The staff was super nice and helpful.

A great stop when you are heading north on I65 from the Gulf Coast. Clean bathrooms. A nice dog walking area. The staff are very friendly AND they have dark chocolate covered pecans. The store also has some pretty cool stickers. Definitely worth a visit.

Kind of overpriced shop like Cracker Barrel. Sorry I wanted to like it. It a nice place to stop off the highway and stretch you legs.

Amazing pecans and several types of candied pecans and really neat shopping area. You can go upstairs to see the workers making the candies.

It's actually a very well-balanced sweet & spicy flavor. My husband couldn't stop eating them when I got back to Tampa. He makes roasted pecans at home. He's been trying to figure out the recipe. The praline roasted pecans were just as wonderful. We've been using them as a topping with vanilla ice cream. The praline gets another big shiny star. There were other pecan treats, candies, and pecan meal (for all your baking needs). They even had whole pecan pies at the register, and I'm not talking about their mini pies. I'm glad I don't live nearby, because it's just too tempting and addicting for me. They also have a gift shop full of gift items like jams, BBQ sauces, crafts, t-shirts, and souvenirs. They have ice cream. It's a family owned business, and local to Montgomery. It's across the street from Farmers Market Café. It's within walking distance of The Legacy Museum, and near Old Alabama Town. The service was great! I just wish I could get more of the Sweet Bama Burn. I don't see it on the website. It must be a limited time flavor. I didn't see any of their products on Amazon either, which makes me sad. Hopefully they will add this flavor to their website one day. Until then, I'll just have to settle for the praline pecans. Try it if you happen to be in downtown Montgomery.

But, that would not be a fair description of this tradition: BBQ is an incredible style of cooking and spots like this represent this tradition well. BBQ 65 is conveniently located right off the interstate in a gas station in a saloon like building that has a beautiful character from the outside. Open since 2010s, this spot has started to earn its place in the BBQ world, albeit being newer to it. There is an indoor seating inside near the gas station shop aisles. The ribs are cooked well with a nice wood profile, but neither very delicate nor particularly notable for their flavor of the meat itself, with smoke notes dominating. The quality of pork itself and the slightly tougher preparation could be better to rival Alabama's best. The BBQ sauce is loaded up with vinegar, completely overpowering the meat if consumed together, although to be fair, this may be a matter of preference for some BBQ lovers. The star of the show is potato salad which was perfectly balanced on its acidity, sweetness and overall flavor. As a whole, BBQ 65 is a pleasant stop to experience some traditional southern cooking and support a local business instead of tossing money into another "by the exit" fast food chain.

I was a little confused but I quickly learned that The Cheesecake Empori-yum is a distinct business. The woman was a friend of the owner and she kindly walked me through the cheesecake options that were available. I was debating between the white chocolate triple berry and the pineapple upside down cake for my husband and the snickers and red velvet for me. I went with the daily special - pineapple upside down cake - and red velvet. The cheesecake slices were $5.15 each, which was perhaps a little hefty for the size of the slice but still reasonable I thought. The pineapple upside down cake cheesecake came out hot. I was told that the cake portion had just been baked. I must admit that it looked very different than what I was imagining it to look like (i.e. Cheesecake Factory) as the cake was falling apart. We refrigerated it for a few hours before trying it so that the cheesecake portion would be cold. While good, this dessert very much looked and tasted like cake and not cheesecake. There was also a texture issue for me as it was all very soft versus having distinct cake and cheesecake textures. We thought that the red velvet cheesecake was more successful. It was rich and creamy and the red velvet flavor came through nicely. The slice held up well and had a nice Oreo crust. It was perfectly baked. We were rushing some so I didn't see the full menu. Next time, I'd love to try the soul food egg rolls!

As a lonely…read moreCalifornia transplant years ago, I remember feeling a little uneasy about the prospect of being in such a new place without any of my normal comforts -- including my favorite places to get comfort food. Naturally, one of the first things I did was seek out some new local places to fill the role of my favorite spots back home. This search led me right to The Cheesecake Empori-Yum; after all, what could possibly be more comforting than a cheesecake? I can definitely say that I found what I was looking for. I may have had better cheesecake experiences in the past, but certainly not by much -- it's hard to exaggerate how good the cheesecakes are here. I might recommend trying the original in addition to any specialty slices you order, just to give yourself a benchmark. The last time I visited, I went with the Reese's cheesecake -- peanut butter fiend that I am, I ordered a peanut butter cheesecake with chocolate crust, crushed Reese's Cups, and chocolate drizzle was only right. It was wonderfully dense and beautifully creamy, just as always. I did wish that the peanut butter flavor of the cheesecake itself came through more, though; the peanut butter notes were overshadowed a bit by the stronger chocolate flavor from the crust/drizzle. Although the cheesecakes are fantastic, I think the best part of all is the amazingly friendly service. You often here the phrase "service with a smile," but here you will find that to the tenth degree. The owner is so very friendly, and it's evident she puts her heart and soul into everything she makes. A little shop with a big heart... you can tell each item is made with love. Come by for a slice... or three. I won't judge.
