On a recent visit to the city, we stopped at Jozettie's Cupcakes. We were warmly welcomed upon entering and were 3rd in line. It was a few days before Christmas and patrons were picking up their holiday orders. The shop is small and got crowded fast, which we took to mean that they were good. We opted for half a dozen cupcakes. I tried the strawberry and red velvet cheesecake flavors. They were both moist and sweet and you could tell they were homemade and not boxed. The icing was yummy without being super sweet. While both cupcakes were delicious, of the two my favorite was the red velvet cheesecake. It was unique and melt in your mouth delicious. My guy said that they were hands down the best cupcakes he's had, and he's had many, lol. We will definitely return when in the area again. Heck, we may just make a special trip here just for the cupcakes! read more

I consider myself to be a cupcake connoisseur... I've traveled around the world and have sampled cupcakes in multiple states, countries and continents and I have NEVER found a better cupcake than I've had at Jozettie's. It's not even close! In the beginning there was a time to two where service wasn't the best, but they definitely improved in that area. Jozettie's has cupcake options for all taste buds. I try to limit myself to thinking about the red velvet cheesecake only twice a week for health maintenance. I gave three stars for poor service. One employee was very kind but the individual that ended up helping us seemed unamused by our presence. I came in and was promptly assisted by the cashier. Upon his recommendations I ordered the red velvet cheesecake and the sweet potato. Both were freakin amazing! The red velvet cheesecake was so rich and delicious. The sweet potato was delicious too but the red velvet cheesecake had it by a mile. The cupcakes themselves are decently priced at $3.28 per cupcake but they have deals on dozens for about $31. I'll definitely be back to try out the pineapple upside down cupcake and the pecan pie cupcake. Perfect cake-to-frosting ratio!!! The location is good, on Decatur near Alabama State University and convenient if you work downtown. It's a small store front so be careful not to miss it. I stopped by to get a treat for myself and a friend. I had the German Chocolate cupcake and I like that there wasn't TOO much frosting and too little cake like so many other cupcake places. The cupcake was a good size and the frosting was enough without going overboard. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the cake was a bit dense, I prefer mine a little more "airy" but I will go back and try other flavors when I get a chance. read more
