It was a few days before Christmas and patrons were picking up their holiday orders. The shop is small and got crowded fast, which we took to mean that they were good. We opted for half a dozen cupcakes. I tried the strawberry and red velvet cheesecake flavors. They were both moist and sweet and you could tell they were homemade and not boxed. The icing was yummy without being super sweet. While both cupcakes were delicious, of the two my favorite was the red velvet cheesecake. It was unique and melt in your mouth delicious. My guy said that they were hands down the best cupcakes he's had, and he's had many, lol. We will definitely return when in the area again. Heck, we may just make a special trip here just for the cupcakes!

With a health score of 99, I was already impressed. The service was fast and efficient. All flavors were not available when I arrived but there were still 10 options to choose from which is plenty, however, if you are particular, I suggest to preorder. I am a bit of a dessert snob and hate to waste calories on an ordinary dessert, with that said, I loved the way the strawberry shortcake cupcake included a small container of fresh strawberries to self pour. This is a genius way to avoid soggy cake. I'm looking forward to visiting again when I return.

I can't wait to stop by again next month as we road-trip through again. Also, must be noted, these cupcakes are SWEET. There is icing for days. They are large and delicious. The icing is very sweet and plentiful (reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5) so if you do not like a lot of icing this may not be the place for you. The icing is about the same size as the actual cupcake but it's still delicious! And the mini oreo on the top was a nice, cute touch. The actual cake part of the cupcake was delicious, it had a very warm and comforting taste - not too sweet and not too bitter! I would definitely come back here for a cupcake again to help fight the "pandemic blues!"

I would be willing to try something different in the future though, but for now three stars on pastries and five stars on chicken salad and pimento cheese.

We just happened upon this place as we were in the joint parking lot of Can a Brotha Get a Slice…read more As I was paying for our pizza, a lady approached me asking whether we wanted cheesecake. I was a little confused but I quickly learned that The Cheesecake Empori-yum is a distinct business. The woman was a friend of the owner and she kindly walked me through the cheesecake options that were available. I was debating between the white chocolate triple berry and the pineapple upside down cake for my husband and the snickers and red velvet for me. I went with the daily special - pineapple upside down cake - and red velvet. The cheesecake slices were $5.15 each, which was perhaps a little hefty for the size of the slice but still reasonable I thought. The pineapple upside down cake cheesecake came out hot. I was told that the cake portion had just been baked. I must admit that it looked very different than what I was imagining it to look like (i.e. Cheesecake Factory) as the cake was falling apart. We refrigerated it for a few hours before trying it so that the cheesecake portion would be cold. While good, this dessert very much looked and tasted like cake and not cheesecake. There was also a texture issue for me as it was all very soft versus having distinct cake and cheesecake textures. We thought that the red velvet cheesecake was more successful. It was rich and creamy and the red velvet flavor came through nicely. The slice held up well and had a nice Oreo crust. It was perfectly baked. We were rushing some so I didn't see the full menu. Next time, I'd love to try the soul food egg rolls!
