It was a few days before Christmas and patrons were picking up their holiday orders. The shop is small and got crowded fast, which we took to mean that they were good. The icing was yummy without being super sweet. While both cupcakes were delicious, of the two my favorite was the red velvet cheesecake. It was unique and melt in your mouth delicious. My guy said that they were hands down the best cupcakes he's had, and he's had many, lol. We will definitely return when in the area again. Heck, we may just make a special trip here just for the cupcakes!

The cupcakes here are PHENOMENAL. They've found a way to take a simple cupcake and add a twist so unique that I'd argue with anyone that these are some of the best cupcakes in the country. They are THAT GOOD! The sweet potato cupcakes actually have the sweet potato pie filling inside of the cupcakes. Same with the pecan pie cupcakes, key lime cupcakes, etc. The moistness, filling, icing, etc., all come together creating a taste that is fantastic. On the flip side, the service is just ok, and has room for improvement, but as far as the cupcakes themselves, I've never had a better one in my life. I was a little confused but I quickly learned that The Cheesecake Empori-yum is a distinct business. The woman was a friend of the owner and she kindly walked me through the cheesecake options that were available. I was debating between the white chocolate triple berry and the pineapple upside down cake for my husband and the snickers and red velvet for me. I went with the daily special - pineapple upside down cake - and red velvet. The cheesecake slices were $5.15 each, which was perhaps a little hefty for the size of the slice but still reasonable I thought. The pineapple upside down cake cheesecake came out hot. I was told that the cake portion had just been baked. I must admit that it looked very different than what I was imagining it to look like (i.e. Cheesecake Factory) as the cake was falling apart. We refrigerated it for a few hours before trying it so that the cheesecake portion would be cold. While good, this dessert very much looked and tasted like cake and not cheesecake. There was also a texture issue for me as it was all very soft versus having distinct cake and cheesecake textures. We thought that the red velvet cheesecake was more successful. It was rich and creamy and the red velvet flavor came through nicely. The slice held up well and had a nice Oreo crust. It was perfectly baked. We were rushing some so I didn't see the full menu. Next time, I'd love to try the soul food egg rolls!

As a lonely…read moreCalifornia transplant years ago, I remember feeling a little uneasy about the prospect of being in such a new place without any of my normal comforts -- including my favorite places to get comfort food. Naturally, one of the first things I did was seek out some new local places to fill the role of my favorite spots back home. This search led me right to The Cheesecake Empori-Yum; after all, what could possibly be more comforting than a cheesecake? I can definitely say that I found what I was looking for. I may have had better cheesecake experiences in the past, but certainly not by much -- it's hard to exaggerate how good the cheesecakes are here. I might recommend trying the original in addition to any specialty slices you order, just to give yourself a benchmark. The last time I visited, I went with the Reese's cheesecake -- peanut butter fiend that I am, I ordered a peanut butter cheesecake with chocolate crust, crushed Reese's Cups, and chocolate drizzle was only right. It was wonderfully dense and beautifully creamy, just as always. I did wish that the peanut butter flavor of the cheesecake itself came through more, though; the peanut butter notes were overshadowed a bit by the stronger chocolate flavor from the crust/drizzle. Although the cheesecakes are fantastic, I think the best part of all is the amazingly friendly service. You often here the phrase "service with a smile," but here you will find that to the tenth degree. The owner is so very friendly, and it's evident she puts her heart and soul into everything she makes. A little shop with a big heart... you can tell each item is made with love. Come by for a slice... or three. I won't judge.

Thank you soooo much Fred and Nita for the wonderful Blackforest Father's Day cake! I'm telling you this cake is the BOMB! The very first sighting of the cake I entered "WOW"!!! The creaminess of the icing, the promise that strawberries bring, whoo whoo, produced a momentary struggle! When the cake was freed from its protective casing my nose was caught up with the aromatic rush of strawberries and chocolate. I'm telling you it was ON! Not trusting myself I asked my wife to cut me a slice. I felt no pity as the knife decended forever changing the beautiful symmetries of this treasure. I had to sample the frosting first! To my surprise it was infused with strawberries with just the right amount of sweetness, without being so thick that you had to hunt for the cake. There before me were two layers of chocolate and two of vanilla, separated by a layer of strawberry filling. This was no ordinary heavy tasting, jelled, overly sweet mass nor was it a mushy, gummy mess. I don't have the words to describe how the flavors complement one another. I just enjoyed the cakes texture and went with the flavors! I ate it without drinking any milk; it was moist and I didn't want anything with it in my mouth. All too soon my alloted slice was gone! The rest of the cake was put into its shield of protection in the fridge under the care of my wife. I knew two things: (1) this cake will not survive long (2) trying to hold out while getting Bae to order another one for the 4th of July. You can't just eat a cake like this and not experience the love, the attention to detail and craftsmanship that makes up this cake creation. Something that's rare in this day and age of mass production. This is an expression of quality and goodness on a whole different level. I really appreciate you both for making me something that will be known around this house as "DAD'S's CAKE"! I've had Blackforest cakes before but they can't touch the one you made for me; besides cherries are not my thing. I'M LOVING IT!! Excuse me for the length of my expressions; chalk it up to the cake as this is not your typical run of the mill everyday pastry. This bad boy is OFF THE CHARTS!!! read more

This is a REAL Cupcake place. Let's talk about Cupcakes! A Chocolate that's deep and dark - a lemon that sparkles like a June morning. Red Velvet? Sure! And a Red Velvet Cheese cake. There's always a great selection of scrumptious flavor combinations. Here you walk up to their sweet store front and step on the front porch - where you feel like you're visiting your best friend that lives in the South. No cold unfriendly and sterile plaza-style shop here. Their fenced in parking is ample and convenient. The Little Red Cupcake is owned and run by a husband and wife team that are as likeable as their cupcakes! Nita because she loves to make people smile when they try her cupcakes - and Fred - who loves Nita's cupcakes! Between the two owners making sure everything is at its best and giving you the friendliness and customer service that comes from liking people and doing what you love - the whole cupcake experience from walk in to last bite is just yummylicious. And you feel like you are part of the cool local Montgomery scene - no sterile cookie cutter "out of the box" cupcake "store" here. They are BAKERS. Come visit for the Southern Hospitality, to get your office cupcakes, or to bring your mom or kids by on a Saturday. (They make custom cakes too!) read more

I'm telling you this is the best tasting cupcake/cake place in the world. I have traveled all over the world and came to Montgomery, Alabama to visit my son who is in the military and was being promoted. I looked on Yelp to pick a place that made cakes. The different reviews sounded ok but not spectacular, not above and beyond as far as taste, beauty, and service. I asked around and someone recommended Little Red Cupcake and owners Nita and Fred Johnson. He was prior Navy and his wife supported him in his career and now he was supporting her in this business. Just go there and taste their mini cupcakes to get an idea how good it is. We ordered the Red Velvet Cake with icing and decoration to celebrate my sons promotion. Fred delivered it right to the room holding the celebration on base. We didn't have to worry about it once we made the order. It was delicious!! They also have flavors like key lime pie cupcake. You will think you died and went to heaven. There are so many flavors and icings each so great. I had a mini chocolate and it was so moist and the cake and icing is homemade. You won't be disappointed. Here is their website littleredcupcake.com. They are also on Facebook and Twitter. Thankyou Nita and Fred. read more

Hands down my new go to company for all sweets! The level of professionalism they have is impeccable! Last minute I needed some treats for my mom's 60th birthday. They made it happen w/ no hiccups! ANY questions or concerns I had, they responded within hours! I was able to choose a design, flavors, setup delivery for Prattville and pay -all while being 4 states away. Annnnnddd the cupcakes/cake -OMG - they definitely should be crown the BEST in Montgomery and surrounding areas! Did I mention...you can request a flavor that they don't have?! They are the best! The day after the event, ppl were calling me, asking "where did I get those cupcakes from". Maple walnut, key-lime, red velvet, cinnamon roll, vanilla & salted caramel were all hits! Moist...butter cream was amazing- not greasy ...everything tasted fresh! You are missing out - if you haven't taste one! I couldn't even get a picture of the cupcakes - they were gone too fast! read more

Whenever I come back here from Mississippi, I always text Fred or Nita with my order. I always place an order for a lemon pound cake(so good). Now that I'm back in town for Thanksgiving, I placed an order a couple months back for my lemon pound cake and a coconut cake. I ordered a German Chocolate Cake for a friend that lives also in MS and that cake was to die for. I always thought I hated German Chocolate Cake, that cake was so moist and good and it stayed moist until the last piece was gone which was about a week. Yummy. What I think set the cupcakes and cakes apart is, they are made from scratch and love. The themed birthday cakes are pure artisty, I think a good slogan would be, If you can dream it they can make it, so not only is the cake beautiful it is major delicious. So go by LRC and make your tummy and mouth sing. I just love the deliciousness. read more

Little Red Cupcake is the BEST!!!!! Fred and Anita are a power couple that does everything with excellence and the love they have for their customers are by far the BEST. Now days customer service has gone from a 10 to a 0 but not at Little Red Cupcake, they make you feel like family from the beginning to the end of your visit. I have supported them from day one and I will continue to support with many orders (lemon pucker cupcake is one of my favorites). The awesome thing that stands out is they believe in is giving back to the community by taking food donations to feed those that are less fortunate and supporting other small business's. We are so grateful to that Little Red Cupcake for not only making a beautiful and delicious cupcake cake for my husband's military promotion, but also working with us when we discovered that I had goofed and had given them the wrong date for the event. The mistake was caught the evening before the promotion, and they worked extra hard to come up with a solution that was not only in keeping with the original design and flavors we had planned, but was actually way better than we had hoped for! Everybody raved about how delicious the cupcakes were and I was so pleased with how it turned out! read more

First and foremost, the owners (Fred) are just about the nicest people as you can get. I would definitely rate their level of service and attentiveness as exceptional. They were more than accommodating to our company, given the short notice we afforded them. We ordered a 1/4 red velvet sheet cake for a coworkers 15th work anniversary. It was delicious -- all of our staff really, really enjoyed the cake. It was moist, the icing was ridiculously good and the price was fair. We will definitely order from LRC again and encourage everyone else to patronize them too. read more
