Boze was awesome! Worked around our vacation schedule so we could enjoy the water as much as possible. He works fast, just a few hours for the 2 of us together. Freehand work was beyond our expectations. Wouldn't hesitate to schedule more time with him next time we're on the island.

My wife and I visited Maui a few weeks ago and got tattoos from Boze and we absolutely love them. We contacted him about a month before our trip after seeing his work and deciding his style matched what we wanted. He was able to accommodate the dates for our trip to get us in near the end. We gave him a few elements we wanted included and he was able to incorporate them better than I ever imagined. This was my first tattoo, but I would definitely go back and get another one from him!

My husband and I decided to get a tattoo on our honeymoon stay in Maui. The hotel we stayed recommend pride ink and more specifically Boze Kapoi. Knowing that the chance of us getting a tattoo from the owner of the shop was pretty slim, but we took a chance and walked into the shop. When we stepped foot into the shop, it had such a chill and welcoming feel. Boze was very friendly and humble. After looking at a few photos we asked Boze if it was possible to accommodate the tattoos that very moment.. Without hesitation, he said yeah! He incorporated everything that we wanted into our tattoos and was so down to earth, he made getting the tattoos so worth every penny! Truly honored to get inked by a person so passionate about his work and cares so much about his customers! I hope he decide to open up a shop somewhere in Cali!

I had amazing experiences with both of my tattoos by Boze. Today he added a Lokelani Rose to the hibiscus tattoo he did for me last year. From start to finish, Boze was incredibly professional and friendly. He took the time to listen to what I wanted, offered great suggestions, and made sure every detail was perfect. The final piece turned out even better than I imagined -- the shading and line work are absolutely stunning. Boze is phenomenal. I've been coming to him every year for close to 10 years at this point when we come to Maui on vacation, and he's added more and more to the extensive free-hand Polynesian artwork I have throughout my body (he puts up with my constant neuroticism!). He's professional, fun to hang out with, and a true artist. As a plastic surgeon, I'm always attuned to aesthetics and technicality--he is truly gifted in these aspects. Boze is the man. I can't imagine allowing anyone else to tattoo me or my wife. His line work is amazing. His tattoos are simple and clean while remaining complex. His tattoos WILL tell your story. We got married this weekend in Maui & I wanted a turtle tattoo that represented us. We normally use puzzle pieces that represents each other as the missing piece in the others life. I sent Boze a picture of what I "thought" I wanted. Boze took what I wanted and gave me way more than I asked for or even knew what I wanted in a piece. He took my idea and just ran with it. My tattoo from Boze is the best piece I have. He included the wedding lei in his design. He even made room for the wedding date in Roman numerals. My wife wanted a tattoo that represented our trip also. She wanted a foot tattoo. Again...Boze took her idea and made it way better. And the pain was NO WHERE NEAR what she thought it would be.l due to his light touch. If you are looking for a tattoo ARTIST who will actually CONSULT with you versus giving you a tattoo sticker, Boze is your guy. Don't waste your time bounce around from shop to shop, looking at books after books of tattoos. This dude kept us both from walking away with a mediocre tattoo at best. Don't take my word for it. Boze Kapoi and Pride Ink are incredible. When my husband Tony and I were in Maui this past July, Tony decided that he wanted to have a large special tribute tattoo to my mother done on his upper arm. It needed to incorporate both my mother's namesake symbol (the crane) and traditional Polynesian design. Originally we had setup an appointment at another tattoo establishment on Front Street (across from the Banyan Tree) that Tony was familiar with, but the tattoo artist there completely flaked out on us at the last moment. It was late in the afternoon on our last day in Maui and Tony really wanted to have the tattoo done. What to do? We had noticed Pride Ink previously when we parked our car and walked into the studio to check out their portfolio and see if we could have the tattoo done. The tattoo artist there was busy doing some incredible Polynesian ink on a client and when we asked if they had any availability he told us the owner had left to go home (on the other side of the island), but that he could call and see if he might come back. We said "yes please!" It turned out that when he received the call, Boze had just pulled into his driveway at home, but made the 45 minute trip back to Lahaina to work on Tony's tattoo when he heard it was our last day, that the other studio had flaked out on us and the significance of the tattoo. When Boze arrived back at the studio we consulted with him and showed him a very simple pen and ink concept of what we wanted. Bose turned our "outline" into an amazingly beautiful piece of art. My mother would have been amazed and honored to see her namesake as the stunning Polynesian crane it materialized as under Boze's artisanship. And not only did Boze create a beautiful tattoo but he was able to completely camouflage a small old tattoo on Tony's arm. We were (and continue to be) ecstatic about the service we received and the beautiful outcome of the tattoo. In conclusion, we cannot recommend Boze and Pride Ink highly enough, and Tony is looking forward to having more work done when we return to Maui. read more

My experience for Pride Ink was amazing! Glad that I went to this place over the other shops that are on this island. The person who tatted me was Jacob. He was excellent! He is a very talented professional and artist. He puts a lot of detail and time into his work. His lines and attention to detail are beyond amazing. His freehand flows and it truly shows in his work. You definitely won't be disappointed. The shop overall is clean and spacious. You can find Polynesian artwork posted all over the shop. Boze is da man! My husband and I were both tattooed by Boze. We both got the Polynesian style Hawaiian island chain for significance of that we were just married in Hawaii 1 week prior. This is my second tattoo from David "Boze" Kapoi and I already can't wait to get another one. I emailed Boze about 1 month ago with a general Idea of the tattoo that I was hoping to get. I wanted a Koi fish, but with a polynesian twist to it. Boze sent me a few pictures of his sketches for the tattoo in the next few weeks. When I went in for my appointment and saw the final sketch I was beyond excited. Boze is extremely professional and made sure I was 100% sure with every detail and placement of the tattoo. The tattoo it self took just over 3 hours and Boze constantly checked to see if I was doing alright or if I needed to take a break. When he was done, I was completely blown away by the result!!! The tattoo came out better than I could have ever imagined. The intricate detail and shading is absolutely amazing!!! It is very apparent that Boze loves what he does and passion for tattooing is obvious through the detail and thought he puts in every tattoo. If you want to get an amazing polynesian style tattoo and happen to be on Maui, I would HIGHLY suggest going to Pride Ink and see Boze!!! read more

I came to Hawaii for vacation and asked around for the best place to get a Polynesian tattoo for my birthday. The place that kept coming up was Pride Ink, hands down. I contacted the shop and spoke with David "Boze" Kapoi, the owner and artist, he was extremely friendly and informative and we set up a time for me to come in. When I arrived, Boze took time and walked me through all of my options and showed me pictures of his previous work, which were stunning! He made me feel very welcome and was very attentive to my questions. I have just returned from getting my tattoo and I couldn't be happier with the work. The level of detail, the cleanness of the lines and the absolute beautiful masterpiece that is the final product is beyond compare!! This isn't my first tattoo, and I've been waiting patiently to find the right place to do the work. I just can't emphasize enough the skill level of this artist! He free handed the design and it is unbelievable!! My wife is even asking me to take her to get a tattoo after seeing mine, and she's been on the fence for years deciding if she should get one. Being of Maori decent I found the right artist, who could interpret my korero and transcribe it with the respect and quality it inherently demands while preserving the integrity of this art form, in Boze.
