Piercer was unprofessional. It felt like it was his first time piercing someone. He took too long setting everything up, then at least five minutes struggling to get the jewelry through the piercing, and then LOST THE PIERCING NEEDLE IN MY SHIRT. Had to get undressed in front of him to find it. Overall not a good experience. He drafted up a design that was authentic to the Hawaiian fish hook and explained his design, he took great care of me knowing it was my first tattoo and I was scared out of my my mind. I was very excited to get a tattoo of my daughter's handwriting done here. We asked my daughter to write her name and used her handwriting as a template for my tattoo. The process itself took less than 30 minutes, since the name itself is only 6 letters long and fairly simple. Here we are a week later and the ink on my tattoo looks very sparse. I took care of it following my artist's recommendation (use aquaphor after removing the cover they provide two days later, no sun, no water, no lotion, nothing!). I was very disappointed with the outcome, given that the tattoo was very simple and it cost me $220 for it, I wish the execution and the outcome of how the ink looks like was a little better. read more

My husband decided to get a tattoo on our recent visit to Maui. He called ahead and asked some questions. He was told to send a picture of what he wanted and to come into the parlor for a consultation. He gave a $100 deposit and make a consultation appointment and a tattoo appointment. When he went for the consultation, the tattoo artist was not there. When he asked the price, he was told between $300-400 depending on how long it will take. He was told it would take between 2-3 hours. He went for his tattoo and the artist was one hour late. When paying (the tattoo artist was great and fast ) they told him $650. My husband compromised at $450 with a 22% tip. My suggestion is, make sure you get accurate information. I think there should have been some type of compensation for the artist's delay. We had to pay $12.00 for parking because Tattoo Parlor would only give us a 2 hour validation! Good luck read more

So Amy still says nothing to me 45 minutes into my appointent time. No suggestions what to do. was she going to let me sit there til maybe 5 then offer suggestions. then the $204.00 for the word Ohana. when asked why so much. the answer shop minimum which was never told to us when making the appointment. So now I get to back to Florida and tell the entire world how horrible you treat people. read more

NEW AND FANTASTIC In looking for a reputable tattoo shop google was not helpful since all of the shops in Lahaina burned to the ground during the August fire and google had not made any updates. BANYAN TREE TATTOO is open at Whalers. The owner was the co-owner of Blue Hawaii in Lahaina which was destroyed. So happy to see that there are talented employees here, several who used to manage their own shops. Had a great experience, love my new tattoo and the people were like a family. Best experience ever!
