Yup, we love Mehuron's for the full cases of local cheeses, game, prepared foods, locally produced…read morebakery breads, craft beers, and so much other local goodness. But I have to give credit where it's due. There's a lot of awesomeness going on at Shaw's, too, that we need to acknowledge. Shaw's rotisserie chicken is fabulous for a grocery store -- a delicious, easily customizable dinner option if you're too tired to cook and don't feel like doing the apres ski meal out because of, well, youknowhat. . Also, they also have fresh oysters!!! Large, mature Wellfleets in Dec. this year for a mere 75 cents/oyster. (They were fresh, aggressively briny as east coast oysters are.) There are live lobsters, well priced major label products of all kinds, especially if you shop weekly deals. (Cabot cheese always seems to be on sale... and frankly, that shiznit is good!) There are fairly priced wines from major label vineyards. They are not as esoteric as some you might find at Mehuron's, but you can certainly find excellent, well-priced options for a Christmas crowd. Most importantly for us, though: Staff were so deeply kind despite pandemic / nation-wide economic and racial stressors this year. We have to give a special shout out to the really, really lovely human wearing a Pride pin who encouraged the lobsters to be more active for my fascinated 6-year old. (Frankly, captive lobsters in a tank always make me sad, but he did this from a kind and generous place.) I think he may have been the same employee (wearing a "Joe" name tag) who dressed as Santa in a kilt on Christmas Eve Day and gave my same 6-year old a candy cane. This truly made her day. (She talked about how she met Real Santa at a grocery store to anyone who would listen for hours after.) The transplant from Tennessee who worked the cash register every day we were there was friendly and cheerful to everyone, seemed to be known by everyone. The guys at the deli case were affirmatively helpful. I know what you do isn't easy and we appreciate you. Happy holidays!!

Buffalo Mountain Co-Op Market still rocks! Last year they moved around the corner to Mill St and…read morenow have a much larger store with more inventory. So many great quality products here from the local produce, local meats and cheeses. I also like the health and beauty products too. Now they have a parking lot and more also accross the street in a small lot. If you are not a member of the coop you of course pay more.

Only in VT, there is an awesome little coop in the middle of nowhere (aka NE Kingdom). Well…read morestocked fresh local produce, dairy and meats and decent packaged foods that city folks are used to. This is a small grocer about 1/3rd size Sprouts but is packed with excellent edibles! Outside blends in with the town but don't judge this grocer with its cover. They have little of everything and comparable to and at higher quality than WFM. This isn't fancy but authentic goodness! Buffalo Mountain Food-coop has a cafe upstairs but wasn't open due to Covid when we visited. BMFC was busy and had a steady flow of locals and peeps traveling through. Staff are friendly and helpful!! This is one of the few places that wasn't understaffed in VT this season. Prices are a little higher as it's customary in VT. Many local producers' goods seem to be in line with other coop prices but the packaged were slightly higher likely due to logistics and volume. Parking is street and free. Hardwick wasn't busy but parking was tight. If you visit the NE Kingdom, Buffalo Mountain Food Coop is a very good place to find sundries and nourishment. Produce was fresher and was better stocked than Willey's. Enjoy!

Is it possible to fall in love with a store? YES! The Warren Store is not your typical "store". It…read morehas one of the best selections of wine (from $10 on up) and craft beer. The deli is amazing!! Fresh roasted coffee, house made pastries, homemade bread, soups, sandwiches, everything you would want from a country store. The owners are wonderful people, warm and inviting, as well as helpful (without being pushy). It's adorable too, rustic, and cozy with great local art. It's been in business for several decades and is cherished by the locals. That tells me everything. If you are headed up to ski or explore, stop here. You'll probably see me stuffing my face on one of their pastries. (We are lucky enough to travel here four times a winter). See you there!

BLUF: food was pretty good, service lacking. Awesome location…read more Three of us went for lunch on a Friday afternoon. Don't worry about six people there ahead of us. We chose to sit on the outdoor patio which is by far the best place to sit. Get to hear the sounds of the river going by. This dining location is the best thing about the store. We ordered a turkey sandwich, a vegetarian wrap, and some chicken tenders. The food itself was actually pretty tasty, nothing special but certainly not bad. What kind of was odd was the service. So they said they would bring her food out to us and someone came out with three wrap sandwiches put them on the table and said if you want utensils or napkins they're inside. Just seen God to us that it you're going to say you're going to bring food to the table you can bring out some napkins and utensils. The food itself was very expensive. Lunch for three of us came out to you $71 and all he just got was one sandwich or wrap and one bottled non-alcoholic drink. I'd go back if I was close by with friends and looking for a nice place to sit and eat but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there
