First time there for the fish fry, as we heard it was good. Very good old fashioned and bartender was friendly. The dining room was stark and run down with minimal decor. Folding tables and plastic table cloths. I had the all you can eat deep fried white fish and perch. Took a long time to get served even though we got there early, before the rush. Fish was ok but the batter was a bit too heavy and retained a bit too much oil. Seemed to need to be fried longer or hotter to brown it. Potato pancakes appeared to be from mashed potatoes instead of shredded and were soggy; not browned or crisped at all. Cole slaw was good. Hard to find an all you can eat fish fry now days and prices were good, but not worth it for the negatives. read more

We've probably gone to The Maple Inn for a fish fry once a month over the past 15 years; it's that good. The all you can eat battered whitefish is phenomenal, always piping hot and crispy and with the slightly sweet taste whitefish has - seriously, only one time did we have unpleasantly greasy fish. The German potato salad is excellent, and while I'm just not a fan of any potato pancakes, my husband is and enjoys them with a bit of syrup. Actually, diners can have potato salad, potato pancakes, and French fries if desired! The coleslaw is homemade and crisp with a creamy yet tangy dressing, which is nice. Service is usually pretty good, and given that the restaurant is in a very old building, the decor tries to reflect the Victorian era. Not crazy about it, but I'm not there to really look at it - too busy enjoying the delicious and very reasonably priced food. For us, it's more than worth the 50 mile round trip once a month! read more

Being from the south, i was hesitant that i was gonna have some of the best fried fish up here, but i will honestly say that the fish here is in my top three places I've ever had it. I don't like beer battered fish and i loved it here. The sides we're amazing as well. This will be a must stop every Friday night I'm in the area. Staff are just as good as the food. read more

We just went there on Friday for dinner , Fish fry were good , very crispy and well seasoning , potato pancake was delicious , the restaurant make me feel like family get together holiday dinner which is good but only down fall was our server! Visiting family over the Holiday had not had a fish fry in about 3 yrs, went here with my brother in law and family. Very good, nice little bar for a couple brandy old fashions, and into the dinning area for an all you can eat WI fish fry. You do not have to do the all you can eat but hey you are in WI, I had the shrimp and fish combo very very good. I would recommend take the drive and eat. read more

Solid fish fry. Place itself is cute- old school decor, simple furnishings. Service was friendly. We walked in on a Friday at 6:30 and were sat right away. They have an all you can eat whitefish that is beer breaded and perch. You can get both as a smaller plate too. I liked the whitefish better than your traditional cod. Breading was good-- not too greasy and crispy. The potato pancakes are legit, potato thin, homemade. A little onion in them. Delish!! The coleslaw. Let's talk about the coleslaw for a moment. So many places screw this up. Dreamy. Excellent flavor, creamy, not too vinegary. We had the schaum torte for dessert and the cheesecake-- both also excellent. Overall for the price-- great value. Fish fry only review. That's all I ever have here and I love this little place. It feels like coming home. Not at all fancy or pretentious, just solid food served in plastic baskets, and great service. They get you in and out in a friendly and fun way. The shrimp basket is great. Low prices are in line with the smaller portions. Last year they had a 2.99 lent special on Wednesdays which we enjoyed a few times. If you are hungry, you can afford to order two! read more

The Wednesday Fish Fry is so reasonably priced, it will knock you socks off. A fish sandwich from McDonald's is more expensive. We drive in from Pewaukee to take my 92 year old father out for fish who absolutely LOVES it! And, we do too! Once you go, you'll find out why Dad likes to treat! read more

Due to the building being so old and in the middle of nowhere I thought it was a has been restaurant. People told me it was indeed old but great food. So, one cold Wisconsin Friday night after snowshoeing, a friend and I ventured a visit. The beer selection was slim but I did find a craft beer to my relief and my friend tried an old fashion to which she found to be perfect. We were seated quickly in what must be the older of the two dining areas. While the other was more of a hall or banquet area this room was as old and as quaint as could be. With the fireplace, bay window, floral wall paper and silk flower swags I felt as if I was transported back in time to the 1800's. The chairs had straight backs with rattan seats(not a favorite with most men, I would learn later). While other diners were near to us, the sound did not travel, giving us a surprisingly relaxed atmosphere. We ordered the all you can eat fish fry with potato pancakes. Within 9 minutes our order had arrived. The fish was light and crispy. Very thin batter with the fish being a filet instead large hunk of fish some restaurants prepare. Coleslaw was nice and flavorful. All of this made for a great fish fry but then we tried the potato pancakes. We swooned over each and every bite. I could not decide if I should order more pancakes or fish. We ate until we were stuffed, as if we would never have such food again. Each time we needed something the server was there at our table right on time. She was friendly and warm. This fish fry was priced well too. Since that first dinner at the Mapleton Inn I have returned many times. The bartender always has my beer ready before I can order it. She remembers my family and friends drinks as well. A feat as we only go but once a month at tops . The waitresses are very good too. Once and awhile I do get a new one and we are gentle with her as she learns the ropes. All and all a great fish fry to put in your list of favorite places to eat. Side note; If someone in your party has hearing aids you will prefer the dining area to the right of the entrance (It's the old seating area with all the old world charm) If you have men with you the banquet side would probable be the best. The host is alway happy to seat us wherever we ask. I have since from this time eaten on one buffet of theirs, Easter. The food was at best meh. No one at our table liked it. This restaurant has a great fish fry on Friday nights. They have all you can eat fish fry with homemade coleslaw,potato pancakes and another choice of potato. They also have a special deal on all you can eat shrimp with a purchase of an all you can eat fish fry for an extra $3.00! Great deal! Oh, I almost forgot... They have the best Schaum torte! Fish fry is excellent, so is the "steak for two". Odd hours though, so call ahead. They really make an effort to make you happy. All you can eat fish with potato pancakes and fries was $7.95 I think. Drinks very inexpensive. Fish very fresh, beer batter perfect. read more
