We saw that this was the season, until the end of May. Once you drive in where the sign is there, there is parking near the front and overflow parking around the back. It seems like a huge area, but there are Iris plants all over, and once you start from one side, you lose track of time till you get to the end. There were other families and couples just enjoying the space and looking at the different type of Iris plants that were there. There were some folks getting photoshoots taken too! The people have done so well with the place, with signs for each one, the flowers so neatly organized with benches and paths everywhere. They even have coffee out and sign up lists to be notified of the bloom season for the following year. We came to the latter part of the bloom season where the flowers were withering, so I can't imagine how nice it would be in at the start of full bloom. Now we know what we are going to target next year! Major kudos to the farm for doing such a great job with the place and making it accessible to the whole community to share their love for these flowers.

I'm so glad I had the opportunity to stop by on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in May, sunshine mixed with a cool breeze, and just a handful of visitors so it didn't feel too crowded. We were immediately drawn to a funny candle with the F-word on it, and my girlfriend ended up buying 4 candles for us. The sweatshirts were hilarious and perfectly labeled for plant lovers. The shop is adorable but small. The merchandise is reasonably priced for the bay area. Parking is very convenient as it's right there by the shop. You just park, go down to the first floor, and you'll find it facing the colorful walkway that was recently painted, opposite a variety of restaurants in the pedestrian-only street.

As someone who loves peonies, I was delighted to discover CharMarron Peony Nursery, tucked away in…read morethe hills of San Jose at 535 Sierra Road. According to their website, they have over 240 varieties of peonies under cultivation. It's a bit of a drive to get there (a very scenic one), so you want to check their website to ensure they will be open. We caught them on one of their open days before they closed for the season (usually around Memorial Day). But they sell potted plants all year round, and you can make an appointment on their website. Bare root shipping is available from Aug. 15-Dec. 31. The lady who owns the place is friendly and helpful. I purchased 2 of the potted plants, "Bowl of Cream" and "Nellie Saylor." Compared to what they charge in most nurseries in the area for similar sized peonies, these were a bargain! Next year, I'll be sure to go earlier in the spring, to catch most of the plants in bloom.

I went yesterday, found most of what I needed, went to check out, and inquired about ordering additional things. I was informed they actually had EVERYTHING I needed in stock at their other lot. They pulled the additional plants for me, and I was able to pick up the next day. I really appreciated that. They said they take care of their contractors, and I definitely believe it! It is obvious that this place caters mostly to pros, so I would not recommend this place to novice gardeners. Hire a designer or a contractor to help you if you want to buy plants here. I have worked twice now with the same gentleman to pay (I didn't catch his name yet) He is funny and friendly. I will be back often.

We visited here when we were searching for drought tolerant, native California plants. They had a very nice selection them. Like many other Bay Area nurseries, the people are super helpful. We spoke with Agnes, who provided a wealth of information on the plants we were seeking. She also shared the history of Our City Forest and their mission. We liked the volunteer spirit of the organization, the thought of helping others and goal of improving climate.

I actually have been trying to come here for some time 1) LOCATION: This place is located right near the airport. So you have trees flying over you which is somewhat of a nuisance if you are trying to talk to someone and are hard of hearing! The trees are nicely organized and you can even down load the availability sheet before you come. They update the sheet pretty often, so you get a good idea of what's available before you go. 2) TREES & PRICE: Quality: Hands down quality for the price. Everything looked pretty healthy. I didn't see any diseased trees, and there were no dry or dead/ weeping trees. They are organized and there are so many!! Usually when you go to a nursery, you tend to see a lot of plants and just a handful of trees. Not only are there a ton of trees (see the list), they are massive compared to trees in other nursery's. Price: WOW!! Such great prices. They ask for a donation of 80-100 per tree, which is a lot less than some of the other nursery trees we have picked up. Typically you pay anywhere between $170-350 for a tree similar to the on ones in the tree lot. Not only are they great prices the trees are around 9' tall for some of the bigger ones. Same price. The only bummer is that it is only open to the public Thur-Friday, between 8-12. It makes it hard to get in there with such a small window.

It's hard to believe it's been six years since Teddy first started going to Lucky Buddies! We joke…read morethat we're one of the "OGs" because we've been with Yesi since the very beginning--back when she was caring for pups through Rover, long before Lucky Buddies grew into the incredible daycare it is today. Watching Lucky Buddies grow has been such a joy, but what amazes me most is that their heart has never changed. Even as they've expanded, every dog is still treated like family. Teddy has been loved, cared for, and celebrated every step of the way, and there isn't a single person on the Lucky Buddies team that I wouldn't trust with him. They've truly become part of our village. From daycare and baths to transportation, check-ins, and walks, they've made life so much easier over the years. But beyond the services, it's the peace of mind that means the most. I never have to wonder if Teddy is safe, loved, or happy--I know he is. As I prepare to move away, one of the hardest things to leave behind is Lucky Buddies. I honestly don't know how I'll ever find another place like them. They've set the standard for what exceptional dog care looks like, and I will forever be grateful for the love they've poured into Teddy over the past six years. Thank you, Yesi, and the entire Lucky Buddies team, for loving Teddy as if he were your own. I would strongly caution anyone considering Lucky Buddies for cat boarding. We used this facility…read morefor years, but our last two experiences were bad enough that I would never leave my cat here again. The cat boarding area itself has deteriorated significantly. On our recent visits, the room was dirty, visibly soiled, and smelled very unpleasant. For a facility that is supposed to house cats for extended periods, I found the condition of the space unacceptable. More importantly, during my baby's most recent stay, he was severely distressed while being handled by staff. When they attempted to put him into his carrier/bag, he defecated on himself and was returned to us covered in feces and visibly shaking. This was incredibly upsetting to witness. Lucky Buddies later apologized and acknowledged that he had been mishandled by their staff. What followed was equally disappointing. Despite repeatedly following up, I did not receive the updates or communication I expected regarding what had happened. While they apologized, there was no meaningful rectification, no clear explanation of what would change, and nothing that gave me confidence that the same thing would not happen to another cat. Poofy is still recovering from what was clearly a very stressful experience. We have noticed behavioral changes since the incident, particularly increased fear around handling outside the home. And now, after acknowledging what happened and apologizing for it, Lucky Buddies has deactivated my account. I find that response extremely troubling. Rather than meaningfully addressing a longtime customer's concern after admitting that their staff mishandled an animal in their care, their apparent response has been to remove the customer. Cats are not small dogs. They require calm environments, clean spaces, patient handling, and staff who understand feline fear and stress. Based on the condition of the cat room during our last visits, the lack of communication despite follow-ups, the handling of Poofy, and the way the complaint was dealt with afterward, I would not recommend Lucky Buddies for cats. We trusted this facility for years. Unfortunately, the standard of care we experienced during our last two visits was completely different from what we had come to expect. I genuinely wish we had stopped using them sooner.
