When we lived in ABQ (moved up to Seattle two years ago) we used Preventive, and they were definitely awesome. It was expensive, but there was NO way I was going to be able to handle the profusion of spiders, ants, and cockroaches in our concrete slab house. They even found a way to come up through the drain into the bathtub. Nope, nope, nope. Preventive was great to work with and it made a huge difference in the amount of pests we had. They were a little pushy through the winter when I put them off for warmer climates when there weren't as many bugs, but I understand that from a preventative perspective, it's better to spray year-round. Last time the technician treated our yard, I think his name was Brandon, I thought he did a really good job. He already had the information of areas that we did and areas we didn't want treated. But he was also careful not to spray close to our tomato and pumpkin plants. That was something I had forgotten about. read more

Not impressed at all with their customer service or how they handled my concerns about their service. It doesn't seem like it should be hard to schedule the service when it's convenient for the customer but for this company it was. I called three times to reschedule my appointments because they couldn't grasp the concept of scheduling the service every month from April-August and every other month Sept. - Mar. I was event willing to sign a contract. Nope, not for me. As the customer I shouldn't have to remind them to provide me with the service and then charge me on top of that! no thanks! read more

The techs in this company are amazing and do great work, the back office not so much. I have three properties on one street that I have serviced. I have tried to work with this company for over a year to get these properties on one invoice and serviced at the same time. We finally got them to service and schedule the properties at the same time but they are still unable to ensure that these are on one invoice....what is so freakin difficult. Then I call the office because they call my wife and indicate there is a balance due and am told no everything is paid, not ten minutes later they call my wife and tell her there is a balance....what the hell. Confused or incompetent, not sure, blame it on the software whatever, I truly think it is time to move on to another company that has their service together. read more

I canceled an upcoming appointment and rescheduled for the following week. I received 2 confirmation calls and accepted the new appointment. The day of the appointment I took time off from work and waited 6 hours for Preventive to show. They never did. I called the office, the receptionist I spoke with did not have me on the schedule for the day. I explained that I had confirmed my appointment and she did have record of the conformation calls, but couldn't explain why I wasn't on the schedule. She then told me she would have a manger call me. I'm still waiting 4 weeks later. I am currently looking for a new Pest Control service. I'll let everyone know when I do. read more

This company was supposed to kill the weeds in our yard. They were never able to do the job. Spoke with Rodrigo in their office over and over but he never offered any more than respraying. He admitted that the "new" chemical they had used did not work. In order for them to respray with the proper chemical, we had to pay a lawn company $160 to cut down the weeds that Preventive was not able to kill. Received no compensation from Preventive, were only offered a discount on our next 6 months of service. I fired them. If they couldn't fix the problem in over 6 months, why would I pay them more money to fail again? They still owe me $160 but have made it clear they do not care. Never had any trouble with the indoor pest service. read more

Worst possible record keeping. Signed us up for a year of treatments with no authorization and had our neighbor sign paperwork that created a yearly contract that then was automatically renewable. Should have nipped it in the bud over a year ago but agreed with them to serve out the contract. They then padded the number of visits, seemed to be keeping two sets of records. There has to be someone more reputable ... felt like I was losing my mind dealing with them. Twilight zone material. read more

I just wonder in some seconds how many ants can gather at a place. Thousands and thousands of ants at my home as if my home is a candy house. Hell crazy! What more I didn't try-tea tree oil, traps, etc. but to no avail. Even in the food, kitchen everywhere the clouds of ants that was just spinning my head around. Called them and within 2 hours a guy named Tom came and just vanished my problem away. He sprayed some oil in the corners and holes which is likely to be the ants' dome. It's been a month now an no ant to be found. All thanks to Tom. Loved this guy and his work. Keep it up! read more

This place is a joke. They don't do a good job and their customer service sucks. They told me that they would be out on Saturday 12-2 pm. At 2:30 I called to see where they were, the guy told me he didn't know, where the person was and how to get a hold of the person. So basically " call back Monday". There are a lot of things I would have rather been doing on a Saturday than sitting around waiting for them, only to be stood up. I will gladly be calling Monday to cancel their services, there are plenty if other places I can go and be treated with respect and not a burden. read more

It has taken months for them to come out for scheduled appointments, even when verifying the day before, the techs would never come out to the house. We live in the East Mtns and had a serious mouse and rat problem due to the recent bumper pinon seed crop. It was so bad that rats had gotten into the insulation under our house and mice inside our vehicles. What a mess! I attempted to solve the problem myself by purchasing numerous mice and rat bait stations, sticky rodent pads for the vehicles,etc. I also attempted everything imaginable (peppermint oil, mothballs, dryer sheets, etc.) without success. I called a major pest control company and set up an appointment on a Saturday between 0800 and 1200 hours. They never showed up. I did some online research and decided to try Preventive Pest Control. The technician was scheduled to show up between 0800 - 1200 hours. He showed up at 0810 hours! This was a good sign! He performed a thorough inspection and recommended a course of treatment. After three (3) weeks, we have not heard any rats under the house or seen any evidence of mice inside our vehicles for the past 6 days. They have followed up a couple of times since the initial visit to ensure that the treatment was working. Professional technicians, friendly and efficient office staff and overall great service. We were the FIRST customer in our Corrales area about 20 years ago and have used Preventive Pest ever since. Of course, from time to time, we have to call for a re-spray; but they always come out and cheerfully re-spray. No company is going to be perfect; but I love that they strive for perfection. I can honestly say that the price I pay now is only a few dollars more than I paid 20 years ago...THAT is amazing! I have been a customer for over 15 years at two different houses. My service is every other month and unless I tell them of something specific, the treatment is outside mostly around the perimeter. This is a service that I don't even have to be home for. I was skeptical at first, but the treatment works. The folks in the office are very helpful if I need additional services. On the rare occasion that I have an issue inside, it is typically scheduled immediately and there is no extra charge. I highly recommend. read more

My husband and I used PPC for over 16 years and we usually called them when it started getting warmer because during the winter months, we don't experience very many pests in or around the house. We have never had a problem doing this and neither have they. About a month ago I called for service. They informed me that since we hadn't had service in several months that not only were they going to require we sign a contract but our service would be going up $20 a month. After talking with them a bit, they gave me the original price but still insisted on the contract when we have never had to sign one before. I'm so disappointed, we really love their service but if this is what it's come to, we will find someone else. read more

These guys are horrible. We told them from the start that we would call them to schedule appointments when needed and want them to exterminate the house, but they apparently just show up while we're at work, leave a note on the door that says they exterminated the outdoors around our house (even though the gate is locked-not sure how they're getting into the back yard) and then bill us for outdoor service. I've called and complained. They said they'll put a note in the system so it doesn't happen again, but apparently they don't. I'm calling to fire them, but will probably have to send something to them in writing, otherwise they'll just pretend the call never happened and keep showing up. We just moved to the Santa Fe area in April, and live on 6 acres of natural landscape. The house had not been lived in for 18 months, and plenty of "pests" had time to reproduce and make themselves welcome around our home. The field technicians are all polite, throrough, informative and a pleasure to deal with.
